Ima be honest, I wasn't expecting much. Every time I pass by there are always people sitting on the swings on the wraparound balcony so I genuinely didn't know what to expect. Anyway, coffee was tasty. It came in a bag but like not like in Mexico but like think big capris sun pouch or medical blood bag, anyway it's cool. Just a tip, don't leave your coffee bag on the table outside. The wind WILL knock it over and coffee WILL spill. T'was not happy and I felt like a child lol Staff is cool af. The people there weren't trying to be nonchalant they were actually hanging out which creates a chill vibe (duh) unlike a certain Greek cafe whom I won't mention lol Oh they have merch. I came here after work with a friend and we were able to find street parking. As soon as we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised with the nice decor. There is plenty of seating and they even have a second floor. I was very excited to try the Coquito Latte but unfortunately I was not impressed. We visited 787 Coffee on Sunday, a Puerto Rican coffee shop located in the Montrose area. I absolutely love the aesthetic of the space. It's the kind of place where you can work, do homework, or just meet up with friends. I also love the greenery. One of my favorite features is the wraparound porch on both the lower and upper levels, with seating that overlooks the neighborhood. It creates such a relaxed and welcoming vibe. There was a bit of a wait, but it was actually pleasant because we were able to walk around and get a feel for the space. This place is so cute and has plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, making it perfect for studying or catching up with friends. I will say that parking can be a bit of a hassle so you'll likely need to street park. They also feature rum- and whiskey-infused beans. We orderer the Horchata and the Dulce de leche latte. If you get your drink iced, it comes in the cutest little package with a fun straw--a small detail that makes the experience even better. Prepare to wait over 30 mins for coffee!! I get it, Bad Bunny vibes and Puerto Rican pride. Cool, sure.. thats great. However, while this coffee shop is "cool" and the aesthetic is pleasing, the baristas are slow and pretty bad. (Sorry, not sorry) I ordered 2 horrchata iced lattes to go for me and my dad. The Baristas were so damn behind. 30-35 mins waiting for 2 of the same iced lattes is crazy. And there was a hell of a line. While the baristas see people waiting, they were just having the time of their life talking and dancing. Management looked like Gen-Z which made a lot of sense. Finally got to come to this two-story beautiful porch coffee shop. The decor was gorgeous I loved all the sayings painted on the walls. The plants really added a Special Touch, by the way they all have names. The coffee menu is interesting unique to say the least. I did try the coquito latte and I couldn't figure out what the special ingredient was, was it Rosemary or thyme I don't know. I did have a piece of coffee cake which was $7 a little on the pricey side. Parking as in all places Montrose can be a little sketchy, hard to get. If you're not comfortable with street parking then really you might be out of luck. Overall the spot was really cool to hang out and chit chat catch up with a friend. Outside of that the coffee was actually good. I normally don't try iced coffee on the first try. I like to try the black coffee to measure the taste and quality. Service seem to be a little bit overwhelmed there was only one Barista and she was doing the check-in as well. It was a holiday weekend. But great things take time so we have to be patient I have noticed that some of the reviews did say a little something about them being slow. But Perfection takes time, the coffee is good. read more

I really enjoyed this place! It's such a cute coffee shop with so much seating to study (indoors and outdoors) and catch up with friends in a neighborhood. I will say that the parking is a bit dicey so you will need to street park. However if you live close by, this would be so fun to just walk to. They feature rum and whiskey infused beans, which to me made the coffee "feel" or "taste" smoother but for someone who isn't that picky on notes, I would not be able to tell you if that was true. I got a coquito latte with rum infused beans. If you get iced, your drink comes in a cute lil package with a fun straw instead of a cup. Fun fact, this does not make the coffee alcoholic, it is non-alcoholic. The good: the vibes and decor are great. The baristas are polite. Parking is easy enough. Regular coffee is good. The empana was filling and well seasoned. The quesito was large and creamy, but a bit too sweet for me. The not so great: it's pricey I mean paying over $$$$ for a quesito is a crime. the specialty coffee is blah. I had the coquito latte and it was fine but did not taste anything like a coquito, there was not even a hint of coconut in sight. Came here on a Saturday morning. Parking is extremely limited, so I had to park 2 blocks down to the east. There was no line when I ordered. I got the Coquito latte hot. It was very good! It came with a nice charming cup. There is plenty of seating - upstairs and downstairs, inside and out. However, when my friend arrived, the line was 10+ people long, and it took well over 20 minutes for her drink to be made. Their pastry options are also quite limited. read more

This place was super cute with the swings out on the front porch and the colorful murals but the coffee was extremely expensive for what I found to be merely a satisfactory coffee. I ordered the coquita latte which I was super excited about because I used to get lattes in PR with legit fresh coconut milk. This latte was basic latte with whatever milk you want (I ordered it with oat) and then pumps of coconut syrup. This drink was $9!!!! I have NEVER paid this much for coffee not even at my most favorite coffee shop in Houston when I add syrups, alternative milk, and decaffeinated coffee. The drink was okay imo. I barely tastes the coconut but I'm glad it wasn't overly sweet which tends to happen when you order any coffee drink with syrups. The service was very good. The cashier was very pleasant. My drink came out fairly fast considering the number of people in the establishment. The inside of the cafe was clean. The music upstairs was really loud so if you want to do a little bit of work here then bring some headphones if you think that will bother you. I really enjoyed the song mix but the sound level was just a tad too loud for me so I just put on my airpods and that dampened the sound enough. Also I only saw about 2-3 spots with outlets if you need that for your devices. Parking is extremely limited. Just fyi if you're not familiar with the area so you will likely have to park in the street. Overall, cool spot but I just can't spend that kind of money on a single coffee that's mid. read more

As a proud Puerto Rican, I was genuinely excited to see 787 Coffee open here in Houston. We absolutely love the ones back on the island, they truly capture the warmth, flavor, and soul of Puerto Rican coffee culture. Unfortunately, this new location completely missed the mark and doesn't reflect the magic of what you get at 787 in Puerto Rico. My husband and I both ordered the coquito lattes with oat milk, and they were so bland, nothing like coquito. I was honestly taken aback. We also ordered a chicken empanada, which was good, but for two small coffees and two pastries to total $30? That's wild, especially when you know that on the island, the quality is better and the prices are far more reasonable. I understand they've only been open for about three weeks, but this just isn't a good representation of the brand. The space itself is nice, roomy, and aesthetically pleasing, but the Latino flavor and authenticity are missing completely. It truly hurts to see something so special from home feel watered down here in the States. If you ever get the chance, please visit 787 Coffee in Puerto Rico it's amazing. I heard about 787 Coffee from my friends in PR and NYC. So when I seen that this Houston location was open I had to try it out. The ambiance at this place is amazing from the swings, wrap around porch, balcony and many sitting areas. It's a great place to work from or just chill and read a book. I ended up ordering the hot tres leche latte with oat milk and whiskey beans. My coffee was so yummy and I wish it came in a larger size. For all those complaining about the price. Have you been to a Starbucks lately?! With inflation, everything is high. I tried the chicken empanada as well and it was tasty. The service was good, but some staff members really should do some research on where they work. Your patrons shouldn't know more about the brand/company than you do. Just a thought! I'm pretty disappointed to give this place such a low rating. The space is large and I love the many plants they have all around the shop. Parking was hard to find, but that's to be expected on a Sunday funday in Montrose. My total was nearly $40 for two coffees and a take home plastic container of sauce. The service was very slow and I was the only guest ordering. There was a lady server in and out but wasn't tending to guest. Must've been management or something. Anywho, I had to wait a long time for my cold coffee and the actual roast wasn't anything phenomenal as I was expecting. It honestly hurts me to give this place anything less than a five-star rating because I really do love my people, but I also have to keep it real. As someone born and raised in PR I am very familiar with these flavors. While I am not a regular coffee drinker, I know what good coffee and good flavor should taste like. I had seen the negative reviews but decided to wait assuming they would work out the kinks and finally visited on a Saturday morning. The place was completely empty at 9 am which honestly made me sad. We ordered an Americano and a coquito matcha. Unfortunately, the matcha was terrible. The coquito flavor was basically nonexistent and you could visibly see the matcha settled at the bottom of the pouch like it had not been mixed properly. The Americano was drinkable but watery and lacked that strong authentic Puerto Rican coffee flavor. This location definitely has some things to work out when it comes to their coffee and syrups but the potential is there!! Now for the positives...The space itself is huge, very cool, and the vibes are great. They were blasting old school reggaeton and honestly the place would make an amazing bar. I also want to note that I have visited other locations outside of Houston and they are great so I know as a business they are capable of doing this right. On top of that, I have tried their chicken empanada and banana bread and both were delicious...so I will definitely give them credit there. read more

My friend and I came on a bustling weekend morning and tried the Tres Leches coffee latte. What I liked about this place is that it was unique - they have options like whiskey infused coffee and fun latte flavors like tres leches and marzipan. The coffee shop was formerly a house, so there is ample seating, outlets, and even a printer for your use. While the price is a little high ($8 for a latte), the vibes are immaculate and the Puerto Rican pride is strong. I was able to find street parking fairly easily near by. read more

Another reviewer recommended the chicken empanada so I got one and I enjoyed it. For my coffee I just went with an Americano and was pleased that they do it as a long black though. I probably would've asked them for half the water on my next visit. Their defaults are rum and tequila flavored beans, and also the café lattes, which come with your choice of flavorings very typical of the tropics. Tres Leches, Horchata, Maracuya, Piña Colada as examples. They tell me that the syrups are made in the house and one does have a choice of plant milk instead of regular milk. As of this visit, I have not tried them, but saw that you can also buy little to go pouches of the syrups to flavor your coffees at home. Unfortunately, my coffee did not taste like coffee. It had overtones of rum. and I don't know if that was because the espresso machine is the cleaning or that this is just their default even with their standard Supremo. But I did not enjoy the "hints of rum "flavor at all. I would probably never order a non flavored, straight black coffee here again. read more

Staff is friendly and helpful in making decisions for a drink choice. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy my coffee at all. It gave a burnt toast after taste. I hate sending drinks back so, I did not give them opportunity to fix it incase it was a fluke. Perhaps the shot died before they poured it. Coffee: overpriced, average, great notes. First I will start out by saying the beans here are great and I love that they make all their syrups in house. The lattes are not very coffee forward more syrups. That being said the price definitely takes away from the experience of the coffee. $8 for a standard latte and $1 upcharge for oat milk (the only alternative milk they offer). For 2 lattes total came out to $17!!!! Honestly insane. I feel if the base price was $2-$3 cheaper peoples opinions would be more honest. The service was fine, no complaints but nothing that was outstanding either. Ambiance is the real win. There is plenty of seating and lots of places to do work, read a book or catch up with a friend. 2 downsides, music upstairs is so loud, was reading a book and couldn't really focus. And parking is pretty sparse. Prepare for street parking and the need to walk if no parking is available right by the location. Overall would I come back to this spot? Probably not. For the price I can't justify, even though the coffee was pretty yummy. You can decide for yourself though. read more

Everything tasted thoughtfully made and well balanced, the kind of drink you actually slow down to enjoy. The lady who took my order I haven't seen before and she pretty much ruined our order. This place is a must try! It gives that Puerto Rican island vibe. Mind you I have never been to Puerto Rico, and yet this is how I imagine it to be. The staff were friendly and helpful in ordering. I had the coquito latte cold and it was perfect; not too sweet with a lot of coffee flavor. My daughters had the hibiscus tea and it was very refreshing. It was not overly sweet. I am not a fan of super sweet drinks so if you want more sweetness, please ask. This place is very spacious and has so many seating and lounge areas. The plants were my favorite and they all have names! If you are a plant person, you get it. We happen to go on a Saturday late morning and it was not packed at all. We were able to walk around, take pictures and try the many different lounge areas. It was perfect for a slow morning with some good strong coffee and chismesito or a book. There was several people studying and working on their computers. The only thing I would say is the restrooms need either napkins or a hand dryer. Also the water stations need a little updating. Maybe some cold cucumber infused water or lemon infused water would be nice. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely go back. read more

Gave this place two tries and both were entirely unsuccessful and disappointing. Yesterday, I realized their one gluten free breakfast option at the time was moldy after I took one bite. They begrudgingly gave me a refund but there was no apology, no nothing. This morning, the woman at the cashier was too focused on trying to upsell us that she got BOTH our orders wrong. I paid extra for espresso in my chai, and when I went to the front to have it fixed I could not have been met with a more defensive and argumentative barista. Get mad at your clerk, not the customer? She fixed it, only for us to leave and realize my partners drink had WHOLE milk instead of oat, which was really upsetting to her stomach. Stay away. Unorganized, unprofessional establishment. Not too mention, wildly overpriced. If you're going to charge like you're in Los Angeles, make sure the quality doesn't suck. read more

The only thing this place has going for it is the cute indoor/outdoor seating. Otherwise, the drinks are an overpriced, Starbucks-esque sugary mess and the staff are all slow and not pleasant. This the type of place where the baristas try to upsell you on sidelines but their music service still has ads. Also parking sucks around here but that's par for the course here. I'm a huge fan of 787 Coffee, having fallen in love with their El Paso location, so I was really excited to see them open up just down the street from me in Houston. Unfortunately, my experience at the Houston location has been a letdown so far. On my visit, even though the shop wasn't busy, it took over 15 minutes to get two cold brews despite only one person ahead of me. The baristas seemed quite disorganized, and I noticed our drinks sitting unfinished for several minutes before they finally added the milk. They were using the same spoon for dairy and non-dairy milk, which could be a real concern for anyone with allergies. Additionally, the setup felt a bit chaotic. There is a water jug on the counter with no basin, leaving water splashing all over. The menu was just a worn-out printout rather than a proper display, and they were out of their signature rum-infused coffee both times I visited, which was pretty disappointing for something they're known for. I really hope they can sort these issues out and train their staff better, because I'd love to see this location thrive. read more

I'm only a mildly snobbish coffee drinker, so my appreciation of the deep, satisfying and floral undertones in my quad espresso may be unwarranted. But hell no it was awesome. Mrs. had a horchata, her first and she agrees - outstanding cup of go juice. The space was bright and light and comfortable and we took longer than we needed to, a welcome place to sit and caffeinate. Good evening, Today is my 15 visit since opening, The coffee is very good the atmosphere is good, service is excellent but there is one thing that I and a couple of customers were having a discussion about and that being no anti fatigue mats, I know this is a small thing be I have seen baristas slipping and today was no different, we witnessed an employee slip and almost fall and that wouldn't be good with hot beverages around.
