Quality/Quantity - Just left Lost Seoul Saloon in Virginia City and our guest wanted more authentic Korean food, so we drove her all the way here. Several cities away. Sparks does have the best Asian food, the best Korean food in the area. Seafood Pancake - Decent size, fried well. Could have used more sauce though. Also pre-sliced, thank you. Beef Soon Tofu Jjigae Soup - Good, more for our guest and my wife. I am just not that big of a soup drinker. Bulgogi - Piping hot. Again, a decent quantity. Two bowls of rice, more than enough for us as we are light eaters. Banchan - 6 different types, free refills, thank you. Atmosphere - A hard working family run business. You have done a great job with all your food pictures throughout the restaurant, both inside and outside. Open 5 days a week now from 11am or noon until 8pm or 8:30pm, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Plenty of mall parking. Service - Good. Both the son and the young waitress were nice. Price - $60+ tip. Reasonably priced, especially for Korean food. Took a quick trip to Reno with my family and we were all craving something warm and soft tofu soup was screaming our names. So glad we were able to find this spot! FOOD: We ordered the Cheese Tteokbokki and Beef Soon Tofu Stew. Both solid choices. The Cheese Tteokbokki I wish had more cheese though but it did come with fish cake and cabbage as well! The Beef Soon Tofu Stew honestly really hit the spot! Had the perfect ratio of all the ingredients - tofu, beef and vegetables. Took a friend here as he had not experienced any good Korean food in Reno yet. As we were walking in, the only server working that day walked past with a sizzling platter of squid. It smelled delicious and got me in the mood for seafood. Seems like they expanded the menu a bit since last time I was here, I ordered the spicy seafood soup which had a combination of shellfish and white fish. It was the best seafood soup I've had in town, no hint of freezer burn which I have had to endure with other places that have a seafood soup on the menu. Writing this review with mixed emotions. Recently, we had a yelp event here, and I was so amazed at the food. It reminded me of being in Korea. Home-cooked comfort food. Everything was perfect. I returned two days later because I was really craving the kimchi pancake. We decided to order some beef ribs (Galbi) to accompany th pancake to eat at home. The two dishes cost $44. What we ordered: Kimchi pancake Galbi dinner (rice and Banchan) The first thing I noticed was the kimchi pancake oil soaked and a bit mushy. It actually seemed like it was pre-cooked and just warmed up for us. It really was nothing like the first kimchi pancake I had on my previous visit. That was a a bit sad. The Galbi I thought was a bit expensive $28 however for an average size dish. It did taste quite delicious. The banchan (side dishes, that accompany Korean food) was fairly similar to my first visit. It included kimchi, broccoli with a slight sesame oil flavor, bean sprouts ( (Kongnamul Muchim, 콩나물무침) and spicy cucumber salad (Oi Muchim, 오이무침) I was really hoping for a stellar visit, but it was mediocre food at best for what I consider a bit pricey. I will definitely give it another shot, maybe ask them to make the kimchi pancake fresh. Because it was quite delicious my first visit and I'm still craving the texture and flavor. My absolute favorite place to get kimchi stew! I've been to Hana Garden several times and usually have a craving for their kimchi stew and their kimchi. Even when I'm out of town at other Korean restaurants, I can't help but compare it back to Hana Garden's kimchi and kimchi stew. Looking for something new..well, new to me, and ran across Hana Garden in Sparks off of Sullivan. It's on the smaller side and not a place focused on ambiance, but on the bright side, they do focus on the food. There are happy hour items from food to drinks. From chicken ramen to goju, I could see myself stopping for happy hour to take advantage of the discounts available. I highly recommend the bulgogi, just loknat that picture and try not to drool. Walking in, this place is very clean, quaint and relaxing. The aromas coming from the kitchen are superb. We were immediately greeting by a middle aged gentleman who was very friendly and quick to take care of us. We ordered an appetizer, all of th yummy fixings, some soup and a beef dish. I recently ordered the kimchi pancake, and a completely blew away my expectations! It's nothing special, but I find that restaurants often mess it up, requiring me to use soy sauce. This one didn't. The service is fairly quick. You often see yourself, and the employees quickly attend to water. My only complaint is that the food is a bit pricey. Food was yummy! I've ordered from here many times and always get the jajangmeon, but wanted to try something new. I got the grilled mackerel and soon tofu. This meal could feed 2 to 3 people easy. It is a whole fish filet and soon tofu. There was a ton of tofu and the fish was crispy and fried perfectly. There wasn't any seasoning on the fish, which paired nicely with the kimchi. Hana Garden has been in Reno for as long as I could remember and they're one of the few places in town (at least compared to other big cities) that serves Korean cuisine. Hana Thai Tea | 9/10, would get again Beef Soft Tofu Stew | 7.5/10 Corn Cheese | 5/10, the portion was very small for its price so we were pretty disappointed :( Fried Chicken Wings | 7/10, wings were a bit bland Hana Milk Tea | 7/10 There was only one server helping out all the tables so he was very busy and on his feet the entire time but he was also very friendly and we appreciated his service! Unfortunately, he forgot to bring out our Corn Cheese so we had to remind him about it. Overall, the dishes we had were okay and I really wanted to give this place a higher rating but I think I would have to come back to this restaurant to try their other dishes. I had the kimchi jjigae (spicy stew), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and my daughter had the beef ramen and fried dumplings. Kimchi jjigae was piping hot, like rolling boil. Always great with the side of rice it comes with. Tteokbokki was seasoned great and chewy. The ramen soup had a great flavor (I tried some) and a sizeable portion. The dumpling was crispy and my daughter made them disappear! My husband had the beef bulgogi and loved it. The prices have gone up because, ya know, inflation but the happy hour prices are great. It lasts until 5pm. I washed it down with some Thai tea. The service was good, always checking but not overbearing. The place is on the smaller side but it is clean and well lit.
