Tried this place a couple times and turns out it just gets worse every time. The cheese steak is like eating hamburger helper on a stale roll. The loaded fries are swimming in cheese wiz or velveeta cheese and it is gross!! The sandwiches are really poor quality and the flavors are not great at all! Stopped in for a quick bite to eat based on reviews before hiking the Catoctin trail. It was a bit hard to find as the overhead sign says CARRY OUT and only on the window is there a 7th Street Sandwich Shop sign. The place has a surf vibe to it based on the decorations and the music playing overhead. It doesn't seem like you're in MD! Everything seemed fresh from the bread to even the sandwich! The service was a bit slow (maybe we caught them on an off day? and I think they were training a new worker taking orders). I ordered a classic BLT and my husband ordered the Corn Beefy Rappin Chicken. The BLT was standard - they did not skimp on bacon. The bread was fresh (I got rye). The Corn Beefy Rappin Chicken was a bit greasy but lots of flavor. The only thing missing from this joint is bansai bowls and pitaya bowls to give it the full CA surfing/Huntington Beach vibe. My only wish was that it didn't take so long to get our food. Maybe we will try it again next fall when we hike the trails again. Bon appetit ya'll! read more

Although this lunch spot is unassuming and absent a real sign out front, it is quickly becoming one of my favorite escapes from the office. The menu and friendly service have never let me down, and you are guaranteed fresh ingredients. Sandwiches can vary from boring to the trying-too-hard variety. 7th Street stays off this spectrum entirely with a menu that is effortless but interesting. My recent favorite is the Backside, which is a roast beef club with horseradish aioli. Meat-to-bread ratio is great, beef is sliced thin, and it's all wrapped in butcher paper with a tiny chocolate chip cookie on top. Several of my friends rave about the salads, and I'll actually advocate for the fresh veggies and ranch dip. It's about 3 bucks and includes huge portions of chopped carrots, zucchini, red pepper, squash, and celery with a generous portion of a homemade-tasting dressing. Definitely enough to share. I also play to try the fried green tomatoes soon because the fried green tomato on one of their specialty BLTs was crisp and delicious with a cajun dressing. They have homemade chips and tiny addictive cookies. The atmosphere is surfer/casual but pretty plain, and I recommend calling in your order ahead of time. In my perfect fantasy world, they would serve sandwiches in half-portions and they would have a soup menu. But that's just a wishlist. And in reality, I still can't get enough of this place. read more

I'm always on the prowl for a good sub or sandwich so I'd been eyeing the 7th Street Sandwich Shop for awhile. It helps, of course, that they had pretty solid reviews. All in all, this is a pretty decent little sandwich shop. It's pretty divvy on the inside but seems at least mostly clean. I got the impression most people were not eating in anyways; we did. I got the Godfather while my husband got the Johnny Utah and the kiddo got a simple turkey and cheese short board. They were all pretty tasty. I thought my husband's sub was the best because of the yummy sauce that came on it. The Godfather was good too though. I think it's the bread that makes it. We also opted for an order of fries and some hush puppies; each were good enough. I think I just wasn't in the mood for fried stuff that day so I don't think I can give a solid review on those. Point being, this is definitely a decent place to pick up a sandwich or sub. We'll be exploring their menu more in the future. read more

We ordered a Northside Club and a Cowabunga and both were fresh and delicious. The ciabatta bread for the Cowabunga was particularly impressive. I was looking for a local deli/sandwich shop (open on Sunday's) that makes a caprese sub and while 7th street has an amazing selection of veggie sandwiches, I didn't see they offered a caprese. I called and asked if they could do their "summer" salad on a sub roll and they were more than willing! The sandwich tastes amazing and I will definitely be back again. We stopped here during a road trip and I'm glad we did. A couple people got the Reuben. They liked it but felt the open faced aspect was a little weird (it's served in a container like a plate of spaghetti as opposed to sandwich style). The fresh cut fries were also really good but if I could suggest- Get some decent ketchup!!! The packets were a generic, off brand ketchup that had a weird twang to it. This place has THE BEST BAGELS!! I am originally from NY and grew up on the best bagels. I moved to MD and all I had was supermarket bakery bagels . I am so happy my wife found this place.!! First time visitor today. Not all that impressed. The sandwich I ordered was enjoyable, so that's the only reason I'm willing to give 2 stars. First, there's no way the the bread used for my sandwich was baked today, as promised. The first inch of the crust was stale - so day old at best. Additionally, there was way too much bread (too thickly sliced) for a good sandwich. Second, the order took way too long to prepare. I was ahead of the lunch rush. People who arrived after me (and I heard them order - not called in ahead) were served well before me. The place was understaffed, and one employee was obviously new, or working in the wrong industry. Hint - don't put an under-experienced employee on the register where they will interact with your customers! Third, the music is so loud inside the dining area that I was forced to sit with my fingers in my ears waiting on my food. You'd think that would be a clear hint. Finally, and most importantly, the place is FILTHY. I'm surprised it passes the health inspection. You really must take better care of your establishment! Gross! Funk everywhere. Its such a cute little touch how these guys put one little cookie in with each sandwich. And the food is to die for! I had the Avon Pier, which had artichokes and pesto in it. Amazing. The prices are excellent too. While I think food quality and price are the two most important traits of a restraunt, and I give 5 starts because of this, I'd like to mention that they should put napkins and ketchup on the tables. My wife introduced me to this hole-in-the-wall shop this past Friday evening. Not much to look at as you approach but once inside the beach-themed decor and relaxing music set the tone quickly. The place was empty when we ordered but there were several customers when we left. Great assortment of sandwiches and salads, plenty of seating although my wife told me it's a madhouse at lunch time. Dinner for my wife and I was $20 and change, I purchased a longboard (large) sandwich with a soda and fries, she a shortboard with pumpkin hush puppies accompanied by sweet butter. The wife and I stopped in to try for the first time. The place was messy with cardboard boxes strewn throughout, paper menus taped to the wall and unclean tables. We ordered a mushroom steak and cheese sub with bacon cheese fries ("The American Fries?"). We liked the progressive modern rock playing and our wait was short. The sub was very tasty (real steak, cheese and sauteed mushrooms) and bun with loose flour on it (dry without Lettuce & tomato which I think is Philly style). The bun was a little stale, not fresh baked today. The bacon cheese fries were amazing with tons of real bacon. We shared the one sub and fries and couldn't finish it all. Although we are in the restaurant we had to ask for napkins, plastic forks and knives. Total before tip was $17.91. Product grade was A-, Service was C+, Eating in experience was an F. I found out about the soup a few weeks ago - baked potato with real bacon... need I say more? I am so happy that they have found a way to stay open through COVID!! The FOOD was good, the employees were nice... but the shop was unfortunately disgustingly filthy!!!!! I'm no "clean freak" but holy god I've never seen a dirtier establishment. The window sills were covered in thick dust. I used baby wipes to clean down our table and they were covered with BLACK guck. The chairs, the counter, the walls, the dirty paper menu.... even the cups that held the plastic silverware were grotesque!!!!!. The bottom of the cup was covered with hair and crumbs. Sickening. I should have taken pictures of all this but I have no reason to make any of this up. So why on earth did I stay ? Because we were starving and when you have two babies Its not easy to just get back in the car and drive elsewhere when it feels like it's 100 degrees out :) You know it saddens me to say all this because we came here because of yelp and we were really excited to come try it. Again this the food wasn't the issue. I actually thought the fries were phenomenal. My cheesesteak was served on really good homemade bread and the Greek salad and grilled cheese were ok. Even my wife's naked shortboard Sandwich was decent. But the entire time I was eating I kept thinking to myself " am I going to get sick?" And that just made for a bad experience. I thought Of leaving before eating but the kitchen didn't look half bad so I sucked it up. But Even as I write this review 5 hours later I'm really worried. Oh and they have no air conditioning and half the tables are covered in this dirty plastic that looked like it hadn't been changed in decades. Geez I forgot to mention the floor. That was probably the worst of it. This floor was caked with crap. I don't think it's been mopped in like months!! Dear health department,please pay 7th avenue sandwich shop a visit asap! My husband and I love this place! We've been here four or five times in the past few months and even ordered a TON of hush puppies for our wedding because they were that good! The hushpuppies, fried green tomatoes, onion straws and french fries are great starters, you can't go wrong with any of them. I suggest asking for ranch dipping sauce, theirs is homemade and delicious! As for the sandwiches, they're huge and enough to have leftovers. The twin fin club, buffalo chicken, mavericks and onshore are all the sandwiches we've tried and have enjoyed every one. This place was so needed in Frederick!
