I was a little surprised at first, I have never been in this place before. But the theme of this place is inviting, welcoming, friendly, and cozy. I loved this place. I got the smash burger with no onion and it was the best burger I have ever had. Like literally couldn't believe how good it was. I wanted to love this place but it was so disappointing. The good: the smash burger was excellent and the decor was fun. The bad: Most of the games on the TVs do not work. There is a QR code for instructions that are useless. We went for the games and we weren't able to play any except on one TV that only allows you to play pac man on repeat and nothing else. The ugly: the "boneless wings" were basically large balls of chicken drenched in sauce and it was absolutely disgusting. The fries were all soggy underneath the sloppy wings. The worst: it cost around $70 for just the burger, 2 disgusting orders of boneless wings, soggy fries, sodas, and a milkshake. Never again. read more

Good Food in a fun dining experience. We had smash burgers and Tenders the burgers were slightly smaller than other restaurants weve been to. it wasn't messy at all. They was still juicy and flavorful however.. the bun was nice and soft So for a nice clean tasty burger this is your place. The tenders were actually bigger than most places I've been to. nice crispy coating, with a good crunch, but not too hard. very juicy. The fries were nice crispy slices of potatoes. Definitely very filling, don't eat those first! The decor is pretty cool and fun, some of it borderline goofy, but all in all a good time. We definitely had a good time playing those 300 in one Emulators at the table while waiting for our food. Don't forget to clean your hands before and after! The aesthetic of this place definitely doesn't disappoint. As advertised, it is full of retro gaming decor including ? Block lights, a color-changing lighted floor, and TVs at every table with retro game emulators you can play with 2 players. Plus, when you walk in the door you hear the Mario power-up SFX, which is a cool touch. The food was incredibly good. I was worried that the "Big Mick" loaded fries would be greasy and heavy (as I've had at other restaurants that do it wrong) but they came out perfectly crispy and flavorful. The sandwiches are also seasoned and cooked to perfection. You can't go wrong with any of their choices. When I first went there, though, it was around opening time during the summer so there were a ton of kids. Loud kids. This place is essentially a tin can, so any noise really reverberates around. We registered over 90 dB on our Apple watches, which is insanely loud. So if you get unlucky with kids bouncing around the place, it'll for sure kill the vibe if you're planning to relax and play some games while enjoying your food. They could really use some sound-absorbing panels. As an FYI, after you sit down they'll announce your order is ready on the PA system. However, if it's loud enough (as mentioned earlier) you might not hear it anyway. Lastly, although this place's normal menu is halal and they even have a halal sticker on the window to indicate that... their secret menu is very much NOT halal (e.g., bacon on everything). Frankly, I don't even see why they think people NEED bacon so badly that they felt compelled to include it in a secret menu. I'm hoping it's beef bacon they forgot to label explicitly but who knows. Some may find that appalling, so it needed to be said. I plan to come again in the future, but whether or not I stay to sit or not really depends on how loud it is at the time. read more

Atmosphere makes you feel like a kid, an old diner remodel turned into a cool hangout and eat place for anyone that likes older video games. Food was very good, we had a smash burger and Nashville hot chicken sandwich, both were terrific, and both with a nicely seasoned side of a fries. Food and service was fast and the price was only $28 for two. We will be back for sure! read more

Went here with a couple of my friends to check out the newly opened restaurant in JC which made the local news about its opening. I had high hopes but unfortunately not all of them were met. First we need to keep in mind that restaurant is part of a chain with two other ones located in NYC if i am not wrong. And when i came here it had only been open for a couple of days so the staff was still being trained, and it was showing. Usually these things should have been ironed out during their soft openings. As for the food, it was top notch, we all had chicken sandwiches and they were bussin. The fries were a big plus. The disposable containers they were in was in made it not so apetizing. Lot's of trash to throw out. Very wasteful for a sit down place. You did have to order and pick up at the counter which was unexpected, it was also not written anywhere how this place operated and i forgot to ask the person at the counter, didn't even get a chance to enter my information on the screen as it was immediately swiped away and not told anything. Very awkward. They have a halal sign up but in the secret menu you can see that they offer bacon in their meals whoch is a big red flag, as the sign usually means the food prepared is halal and has not touched bacon grease. I was unable to comfirm if that was the case. They should at least take the sign down as not to raise expectations. It just seems untrustrworthy. This place used to be a local diner back in the day, and some of the locals had expectations that it would still run like one from the looks of it. I saw lot's of seniors come in with what i think expecting this to be a diner. And not a kids playground. I was likewise mistaken to think this would be a cool retro place for young adults, as this place swarmed with kids when it opened and it became so loud my noise meter on my apple watch hit over 90db at one point. That's super loud. The music didn't help which was mostly playing at the counter, making hearing us make our orders that much harder. It was obvious that parents were treating this place as a playground, given that the floor lit up with colors when the kids stomped on it. And i believe it also made sounds. I am not sure though because of how loud it was. I was really not sure what to make of this place. There were monitors at each table for playing retro games. All which we couldn't enjoy due to the noise and the ruckus in the background. The seating arrangements were pick your own and we didn't know where to pick up our food. Much later we heard that the food announcements were done over a speaker. I want to like this place, i really do. Theefore i will be visiting again and editing this review in a couple weeks time to see if things have settled down and see where this place goes. I really want this place to work out because of the aesthetics and location. Hopefully more Retro Gaming centric and less mcdonalds ballpit. read more

8-Bit Bites is located in the building that housed the old Red Robin diner for decades. Red Robin was an icon for my family. Mom used to take us there for lunch when she went shopping on Saturdays, and decades later I always had lunch there when I came back to visit. Was bummed to find that the place finally closed for good, but held out some hope when my bro' told me that a new restaurant was opening in the old building. Enter 8-Bit Bites. For starters, I'm glad they preserved the old diner building (at least the outside) -- they don't build places like that anymore -- so points for historical preservation. The inside has been changed drastically, but that was to be expected -- it's 2023, not 1963. I like the "classic" video game theme. There are free video games at every table, and a lighted disco floor that kids really seem to enjoy. So more points for the video games and being kid-friendly. Looking at the menu, prices were a tad high, but not outrageous, so no problem there. Unfortunately, the food was a let down. Fries were so-so; soft drinks came in the can -- no glass like you'd expect in a diner, or even a paper cup like you'd get in a fast food place. But I could let that slide. The burgers, though . . . thin, greasy, and overcooked. It's like they just slapped a handful of loose ground beef on the grill, flattened it, and cooked it until it stopped screaming. Somebody needs to teach the cook how to make a decent patty. Excess grease made the bun shiny. Well, OK, I've only eaten there once, so I'll probably given them another chance. But for this visit, for the price, the meal was disappointing. We'll see how it goes next time. read more

Best halal food in broome county BY FAR. The Nashville hot chicken was seasoned to perfection, and the chicken burger was surprisingly so tender. The beef was perfectly smashed and the onions and jalapeños were a perfect additions. The shakes were fantastic and had such a unique taste but the highlight of the menu by far were the loaded fries. We ordered the beef bacon (halal), and the Nashville loaded fries and the quantity was top tier. The amount of cheese was perfect and on top of that it was so filling. The fries still maintained its seasoning through it all. The service was fantastic and everyone was kind, the owner was kind enough to have a conversation with us and she seemed very genuine. Overall the ambiance was fantastic with so many option of playing video games making it the perfect place to hangout with friends. When it comes to halal restaurants this without question is the best food in the broome county area. read more

Very cool restaurant for a quick bite to eat. It's a Gen X and Millennial dream down memory lane. Each table has two controllers and each table has a different video game to play. You're able to play before, during and after your meal. It has a really fun light up walkway to most of the tables. The food came out fast. My husband and I shared food to try out a few items. We ordered a single smash burger with fries and a 3 piece tender smothered in their sweet and Smokey BBQ with a ranch on the side. The food was delicious. It was not super greasy. The single burger was smaller than anticipated but you can get a double or triple if needed. It was a nice smaller plate size but definitely a full sized burger, not a slider size. The chicken was fantastic, very saucy and tasty. I kept finding myself going back for more. The chicken was a higher quality white chicken breast meat. The fries are unusual but delightful. Crispy, curled and seasoned to perfection. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly and we saw staff cleaning each table promptly between customers. Affordable prices was appreciated. My husband and I stopped there a week ago and the service was very poor we didn't even get waited on we stood there for quite a while but finally left without eating. Once outside my husband told me he could see into the kitchen and the workers were sitting on the prep table so that ws the last straw for me.
