This neighborhood bar will make you feel welcome and fill your belly with southern tier comfort food. Don't feel uneasy when you walk in. Just squeeze between the locals, order a genny light at the bar and work your way back to a table for some of the most delicious pub grub around. Driving back to Buffalo from a graduation in Middletown, NY. Stopped here just off 86, literally a left and a right off the expressway. Monday night, seemed quiet but it was open. Place was clean, with a great menu and the bar had, draft beers, bottles, great selection along with open bar. Bathrooms were spotless! Willie was bartending and cooking. He did terrific in both. Food was excellent burgers, Buffalo wrap, Chicken sandwich and Barbecue chicken sandwich. Also had sampler which was terrific with side dips! Definitely give this place a stop! Whether you live in the Binghamton area or traveling by on Route 86! They have 4 different types of Pierogis....which other bar has that? Btw....the burgers were double patties, just huge! This place is in the back of a dive bar in Binghamton. Parking is a pain, and expect to spend at least 2.5 hours there. There's one guy cooking, so service is slow by normal American standards. The food is completely worth it. Our table had: -Pork chop with smoky, fruity habanero glaze (thick, tender, and perfectly cooked, the glaze had light heat and a ton of flavor), squash and green beans. -NY Strip (very tender) -Chicken with asparagus and bacon (juicy and also perfectly cooked) -Pasta with shrimp and seared scallops -Spring mix salad with bleu cheese (the expensive kind) and vinaigrette. -Seared duck (flavorful and tender, melted in your mouth) -Pan seared pumpkin cake with subtle carmel drizzle and vanilla ice cream. -No flour chocolate cake Try this place, because it's the kind of food experience that you aren't expecting! As compared to Moxie, you aren't going here for the luxurious setting. It's tastier and a tiny bit cheaper. My pork chop beat Moxie's, because it was thicker and more flavorful while costing $5-$10 less. Get water and beer from the bar. Also, cash only. read more

Best burgers around and by a bit. They start with a half pound handmade THICK pattie and go from there. Tons of options beyond the basic toppings and they get very creative. Also do a special burger of the night most nights. They have one with fried onion straws that make the burger about 8" high. They also do pizza and some really nice sandwiches. The "Chicken stackers" are layered thin chicken breast that come out to half a pound. They also have really great wings with lots of flavors, including a really nice buffalo sauce. Last time I got a dozen they told me they were kind of small that week and would toss in some extra; there were probably 24 in my takeout box. If you're REALLY lucky, you can catch the Philly night, tender steak in a perfectly grilled bun. Warning, place is cash only. Also restaurant is though a small bar and the outside of the bar is a little rundown and old, but look past the dive bar image. Bar is a separate business and is also cash only, but different bills. Right now there seems to be just the cook and a waitress, so a busy night might not be a fast stop. However... totally worth any wait! read more

Have been meaning to come here for so long! Wondering why we waited! We went in the front entrance, into the bar. We asked if we could eat at the bar and were told we could eat anywhere we liked, but that the bar and restaurant tabs were separate. No problem. We ordered some drinks and grabbed some menus. So many burger/sandwich options, salads, pizzas, wings, appetizers. The server made sure to tell us promptly that it was cash only, good to know. We each got burgers - The Reggie and the Rustler, and instead of chips, did the $2 charge to get house cut fries with one, sweet potato fries with the other. Great presentation, the Rustler was overwhelmingly tall, with a skewer down the middle. The burgers were cooked just right and had take great flavors and seasonings. The fries were great, too, and a huge portion. Don't normally take burgers home for leftovers, but half the Rustler had to come home with us, along with some fries... too yummy to leave behind. Prices are reasonable, everyone working was friendly and helpful... just a neat little place that's apparently been around (with some name changes) since the 1940's! The food here is great, the atmosphere less so. From the street, you walk through a divey bar, of which upstate NY has many, and into the dimly-lit back room. It's reservations only, cash only, and even though they had lost our reservation, we were allowed to sit anyway. I kid you not, the staff consists of one man who's the waiter and cook. He takes an order from one table, cooks it, delivers it, then takes the next table's order. It's pretty slow, but while you wait, you can walk into the front barroom and order drinks. It took about 45 min. after sitting down to get waited on. There were two tables ahead of us. We started with a wonderful salad for the table; mixed greens, dried cherries, walnuts and bleu cheese, in a real nice vinaigrette. Two people ordered grilled salmon which was spicier than expected. I ordered a 1/2 rack of lamb ribs, which came with some roasted potatoes and some sauteed greens. Everything was delicious; the entrees came with pretty garnishes that were a shocking contrast to the down-at-the-heels look of the place. read more

Unbelievable! My wife wanted to turn around and walk out as soon as we arrived. I convinced her to stay despite the loud locals drinking heavily at the bar in front. It took a long time for anyone to acknowledge we were there. Once we talked to our waiter, Jim, I realized why it took so long. Jim is not only the waiter he is also the chef. Small menu with 1 soup, a couple appetizers and 4 main courses. Every day the menu changes. The food that came out of the kitchen was heavenly. I had pork with apple honey mustard and could not believe how perfect the presentation was. Everything was cooked perfectly and the pork just melted in my mouth. First, let's get this out of the way. As many of the other reviewers mention, when you see this establishment from outdoors, you probably would never expect the high quality food that is served. In fact, we met another couple who arrived at the restaurant first, and they were 'wondering if we had played a joke on them' when they arrived as they couldn't believe that we really meant to eat there. After looking at the menu, however, their concerns were assuaged ... After the appetizer course, they realized that this was no joke at all and we were in for some seriously good food! The decor is a very, very low key and a juxtaposition of golf clubhouse decor with some other flavors in the mix. The evening we were there, all of the patrons but our party were at the front of the establishment - which is a bona fide neighborhood bar in a decidedly not gentrified neighborhood. The crowd seemed to be regulars that knew each other and were having a fabulous time on a Saturday eve. The back half of the establishment is the restaurant. The chef comes to your table to take your order - the menu changes frequently and is based on what he finds available. So he can explain the dishes and their preparation. We had his greens salad which was both simple and delicious. There was only one order of scallops left, which we all shared. Wow -- lemony, ginger, buttery flavors with perfectly cooked scallops. A few of us like the sauce on the scallops so much that we asked for spoons to make sure we got all of it! For entrees this evening we had sirloin steak (cooked perfectly) served with grilled vegetables, chicken breast wrapped with bacon and stuffed with asparagus, and I had a shrimp dish that featured julienned, grilled vegetables, an asian inspired sauce, all served over rice. In a word, all of us thought out entrees were fabulous and couldn't get over how come the dining room wasn't packed on a Saturday night. The meal was topped by some very tasty desserts ( a bread pudding with ice cream and flourless chocolate cake) which we all enjoyed. If my memory serves me, the entrees ranged from $18-26/8 and the desserts were all $5 each. We felt we got a fabulous meal and enjoyed the unpretentious location. We'll be sure to return! There is not a wide selection of beers and wine, but there are a few options at the bar. Very cozy, affordable and delicious. The menu is always new, so when I can't decide what I want for dinner, I know there will be a variety at Saches and I will definitely be back. From the Asian Nachos to the delicious Scallops. It was so quaint and my boyfriend and I could sit, talk and not feel rushed in any way. I have been there many times while on business. One of my favorite places anywhere. The menu is different every day. Gourmet food in the most unexpected location . I have never had a single dish, appetizer or desert that wasn't outstanding. Just be aware that they do run out of some so I suggest getting there early. Amazing food!! We came here for our 21st wedding anniversary. I had lamb chops. My husband was torn between two dishes the Asians scallop and shrimp or the French onion sirloin steak. Yes the chef to surprise him. He got both entrées basically. It was delicious exquisitely prepared. The outside of the place is a whole dive. inside isn't much better as far as ambience is concerned but the food is amazing. The dessert was fabulous too. We had some white truffle amazingness. This place is a diamond in the rough! From the outside you may want to turn and run. The place looks run down and parking is awkward. Once inside, walk past the bar into the small back dining room where it is a one man show. The food is absolutely gourmet and the presentation is phenomenal! The menu changes day by day. Today's menu included a Belgian endive salad with Asian pear, water cress and asiago, a chicken satay with peanut sauce appetizer, as well as a seared duck breast with asparagus, rice, and chipotle blackberry glaze. The desserts included a pumpkin gingerbread torte and raspberry hazelnut cookie tart. I had the Soy wrapped Ahi tuna with vegetables, rice, wasabi & spiracha, while my husband had the double boneless pork chops with sweet potato and saute cabbage. We also had the cheese and potato soup that was to die for. The flavors are complex and the dishes could easily pass for New York City 5 star quality. If you don't mind the vinyl table clothes and paper napkins you must go here. The cook is the waiter, I do not know why he isn't someplace fabulous and chooses to work in a place like this. The exterior is offputting and the interior is only marginally better. But the food delights, both in taste and in presentation. The menu includes about six entrees, which change quite frequently. Entrees are in the $12 -22 range, which is most reasonable given what is served and how lovingly it is prepared. It seems to be a one man show; Jim Buchta is both cook and waiter, as well as dishwasher, etc. When we were there, only three other tables were occupied and service was fine. But I fear what would happen if he had a full house. Hence, I suggest weekday visits. There is a separately operated bar with low quality beer and some wines, a few rather pleasant at a modest price. In toto, Sach's Tee House is a significant addition to the Binghamton dining scene. read more

I was curious about this place because of other reviews I read and decided to try it out. I had a difficult time finding the place and when I walked in, it was a straight up dive bar. However, everyone was very polite and the bartender seemed to like that people were coming in for the food service. This is a reservation only place because the chef is actually the one who waits the table and you know what...I enjoyed the personal touch. For the entree I had lamb which was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes w/ salad were seasoned well. The appetizer we ordered could have used more bruschetta and less bread but the bread was fresh. The portion for the entree was more than generous so we skipped on dessert.
