So I have ordered from this place at least 3-4 times in the past, had no problems with their delivery, so today I placed an order for delivery paid the hefty delivery fee, and tip, only to get a call from them saying they can't deliver to my location (even though they never had a problem the past 4 times!) I was told that it must have been a mistake and they should. NEVER have delivered to me. I asked to speak to someone in charge only to wait 5 min for the girl on the phone tell me that her boss is busy and will have to call me back (which he never did). I loved this place food was always fresh, but I probably will never order from them again. The atmosphere upon entering was very modern. Even the ethnic instrumental music seemed a bit more modern than classic. However, I will say it was far too loud. Very spacious and chic design. Practically empty at 1pm on a Thursday. They have a large sitting area outside as well. For being empty...they still sat me at a dirty booth. My waitress has only been on the job for a week but gave me a couple of suggestions when I asked her what was good. I ordered the sesame chicken. The food came out quickly, in under ten minutes. Decent portion size, and the lunch comes with a soup, which I declined. My chicken tasted like typical orange chicken with sesame seeds thrown on it. Truly nothing spectacular and nothing really stood out with the exception of cold broccoli. These large pieces of "chicken" were merely heavily breaded imposters. I came across several breaded nuggets that has barely ANY chicken in them at all. The flavor was spot on for orange chicken (mind you, I ordered sesame) and the sauce was thick and sticky, as it should be. Overall, I expected more from a restaurant associated with the great TL's. The environment was pleasant, as was the waitress. Prices were decent but I just don't feel as though it's worth the drive. I am so glad I gave this place another chance! I had been here when it first opened and had not returned until recently. This next time we sat outside and I ordered a maki roll- so beautiful and flavorful!! I enjoyed my dish very much and the samplings of others dishes too. Everything seemed wonderfully fresh. Wow. What a disappointment. Arrived last night around 7. We were seated quickly in the side dining room, which is where you should ask to be seated if you want to be able to hear the person you're eating with. The service is god awful. Surly woman waitress, totally non-helpful and not meant to be in the restaurant biz. We started off with pot stickers (dry and mediocre) and the crispy rice (only reason this place got 2 stars.) Had the sake flight and then sesame chicken and orange beef. How the kitchen got these dishes to taste exactly the same except for the orange peel and sesame seeds respectively is a mystery I don't want to solve. Ms. Charming Waitress never came back to see if we needed anything or to check on the quality of the food. They did not give us hot sauce, when asked for it she said you will have to pay for it. When I called to complain about quality of food, manager just said "ok". I am not sure what all the hype is about for this restaurant and I have been to numerous Mandarin and Cantonese restaurants. We have tried this place twice and both times we were disappointed. We tried several chicken dishes and the chicken tastes old which most people probably can't taste because of the amount of sauce on the dish. The service is always slow. Went there on a Friday night in January and was seated immediately. Server was sweet. The food was amazing. Ordered several sushi rolls along with chicken fried rice. A few glasses of wine. Food came out quickly (almost too quickly...we had a sitter). The rolls were TO DIE FOR. I will go back again for the food, but the service was sub par. Server was very sweet. But...I felt as though she was in somewhat of a rush. From getting our order to bringing out order. We finished and she immediately brought us the check. Not asking if we wanted coffee or another cocktail. Did I mention we were seated right away, so the place was in no way busy (several open tables). We had a Visa gift card that we wanted to use towards some of the bill to which she responded, almost rudely, "I can not take it, I can't take that. We don't take those" What? Visa? And it's not covered in Anthrax either, girlfriend, even though you're acting as if it is. I then paid with my Visa debit...yeah. How's THAT work? No where did it state that they don't take bank appointed gift cards. Which was OK for us. But what about the people that go in thinking they CAN use them and don't have the cash, credit OR debit to cover it? Banishment to clean Bento Boxes in the back? Two things: 1) This review is ONLY for the sushi and not for the rest of the menu and 2) it's only for the simple sushi rolls (Because really? Any place can do the fancier rolls and make them tasty but the basics are where you can see/taste the quality of the rolls and fish). After having a MAJOR craving for sushi we decided to try somewhere closer to home and landed on 8000 Miles. Having tried TL's in Bartlett, I knew I could get some delicious specialty rolls and appetizers, but again, I went for the basics to see how they fared. I don't know if TL's has also slid on the basics but I wasn't impressed. I like my rolls to be big (even if it costs more), have nice chunks of fresh fish (that don't taste fishy), and not be too mashed up or mushy (usually on spicy rolls). These unfortunately WERE tiny and WERE all mashed up and mushy. They were actually kind of spicy (which is another pet peeve of mine...I always have to add a ton of spicy sauce or wasabi) and they were fresh...they were just not to my picky standards. I would certainly come here for their delicious appetizers (especially those shrimp bombs!) or Chinese but I'll definitely be skipping the sushi from now on. read more

I normally don't do Yelp reviews, but I really have to vouch for this restaurant. My partner and I got there at around 4 pm on Saturday-we had skipped lunch, and we're hungry early. We found 8000 Miles on Yelp because we wanted a place with a patio, but by the time we got there it was raining. The people there were super nice and attentive. They let us sit outside in their COVERED patio- it was gorgeous watching the rain pour down close to us, while staying dry and eating our sushi. Setting and hosts: 5/5 For the food: Spicy cold beef appetizer (I forget what they called it. It Chinese it is "Fu qi fe pian"): 3.5/5. It wasn't super authentic, where you can really see the cuts of meat and where the spicy numb oil permeates through and coats your tongue. It was...made more appealing to Midwestern palates. Not bad, especially for around here, but I'm picky. Tuna and avocado shumesi appetizer: 5/5. It was really good. Chef Sashimi plate: 5/5. Sometimes the combination plates skimp on the sushi to justify the cut in cost. Not here. Really fresh fish, and Large portions. Ama ebi (sweet shrimp) sushi: 5/5. Good sized shrimp, heads were fried perfectly Shrimp tempura: 4.5/5. Nice large pieces of shrimp. Partner would have given it a 5/5 but I'm more judgemental and felt like the batter, while crisp and delicious, was a little on the heavy side. We've had good experiences and bad here. Been 3 times and probably won't go back. Service was great the first time, second time took 45 minutrs for the sushi to come out and the place was not crowded on a Sunday afternoon, 3rd time just ok. Sushi was not the best, seemed dried out and slightly fishy, Sushi Ya and Abishiri are better. I've tried 2 different cooked meals and all were mediocre. 8000 miles is a great find in Roselle. I have only had one dining experience but it was a very good one! I sat at the bar and ordered some quick food as I had to rush out. The bartender was attentive even though he was running around to a lot of tables. I had the potstickers well done, good. I ordered the tuna avocado sumiso, this was EPIC!!!! I cannot explain this dish other than saying, get off your A$$ and go try it. Thank me later. I look forward to hitting this place up for dinner. I was slightly obsessed with this place the first time I tried it. To the point that my boyfriend and I went three times in one week! Great drinks, sushi, and a variety of other foods- what's not to like? We even had two servers we really liked and we hated having to choose between them when they both were working. We took a little time off and went back and I had gotten sick- not from the food- I wasn't feeling well earlier, but our waitress (one of our faves) was so nice she got me some ginger ale in a to go cup and got us our check and some boxes right away. One great thing about this place- they deliver! We had gotten delivery and I had shrimp something or another but was pretty disappointed they didn't devein them. They were medium sized and it was clear it needed to be done. My boyfriends parents said they had the same issue. After that my boyfriends family went there and said they had the slowest service ever so we all agreed to take a little break. About a month ago we went back for date night- mai tai's (they're amazing- try them!) and some sushi. We had a mai tai and were still patiently waiting for our appetizer. Half way through our mai tai we got an app and a plate of sushi. Still patiently waiting after that for the rest of our sushi and my boyfriends meal. Still waiting. Still waiting. FINALLY! And then... two pieces of my sushi were half frozen and I couldn't even eat it. We spent almost three hours there not on our own agenda, but because everything was so. slow. We mentioned to the waitress the sushi was still frozen and she offered us more in it's place but we politely declined. We got the bill and... frozen sushi was on there. Kind of annoyed by it my boyfriend asked them to take it off because it wasn't edible. My boyfriend LOVES the fragrant fish meal and we both thing the mai tai's are beautifully boozy but that's the only reason we would go back. I know when we first started going there our servers had told us they were changing food items and they weren't as good. Our server even comped our meal the one time because the dish that I typically got was completely different and not in a good way- I didn't even eat it, I just shared my boyfriends. i like the food here and have never had a bad expereince. i recently found out i have a gluten allergy, and they have a pretty good selection of things for me that are quite tasty and not just the some thing but missing the thing that makes it good( like a chicken sandwich without the bun...THATS just a piece of chicken on a plate, whichis fine but dont call it a chicken sandwich!) this time i had veggie freid rice and thai shrimp both very flaforful. hubby had a couple of rolls which i didnt taste, but they disappeared quickly, so id say they were good! read more

This favorite asian restaurant. We always from the Signature menu. Thai Basil Shrimp is our go-to but also like many of the others. The ChengDu Whitefish Fillet is amazing and a lot! Also love the fish soup that feeds 2 or 3! We haven't tried the "Classics"'since you can get those in any Chinese restaurant. We come here for their specialties. When ordered for delivery its always quick and comes with everything we get when dining in. Patio dining is very nice and love when they have live music. read more

I want to give this place a higher review.. here was the experience.. The place was visibly understaffed. We made reservations and were sat at a table that had rice left on it, was sticky, and one of the sharing plates had a black speck on it. We were brought water after about four minutes by the bus boy- no big deal, however we weren't greeted by a server for over five. The hostess greeted us and said the server was busy, and took our appetizer order. Next, the bartender greeted us saying he would be serving us. He was very nice. The appetizer came out quickly. Our entrees came out fairly soon too. The only problem was they weren't hot. The nest was warm at best and the vegetables were cool. That was disappointing but we ate. No one checked in until we were basically done eating. Our calamari appetizer was a little oily but the sauce was delicious. The black pepper garlic beef was good in terms of flavor. The sesame chicken was overly sweet and almost seemed soft. On a side note, we saw a table get up an leave. We had a 6:30 reservation and arrived early to have a cocktail before dinner. At first, our bartender was charming and attentive. Once the restaurant began to fill up, we gave up our table in lieu of eating at the bar. There were several parties of 8 or more, all with small children in tow. Thinking that we were going to have an intimate dinner at the bar counter, we ordered food... Back to that in a minute... A man and his 7 year old son were seated next to me at the bar. Never mind the background noise from the kid's iPhone, as well as being nudged 15 times during dinner, but I didn't think children are allowed to sit at bars...especially when adults are standing around drinking waiting for seats at the bar. Now the food... Our spicy dumplings and crab rangoons were ok. The sushi was awful. My husband spit his spicy tuna into a napkin and told me not to try it. It was fishy... The general tso's chicken and spicy garlic pepper beef were mediocre at best. We picked at the food for awhile and only once did a bartender or server ask how things were. Our plates were cleared with food on them and we weren't asked if we'd like it wrapped until it was already gone. Um, no thank you I guess! The icing on the cake was one of the managers walking around all night taking notes about things he'd already like to change. Sorry, 8000 Miles... finally a decent place right here in that vacant wasteland called downtown Roselle. We have had at 4-5 food related places on this strip that has not lasted more than a year or two. Im hoping 8000 Miles sticks around for awhile as this is some of the best Asian food in the area whether your preference is sushi or chinese standards. My favorite here is the Cumin Scented Lamb. i was skeptical about a lamb stiry fry dish but count me as a fan now . The Seven flavor Chicken is a winner as well. Nice wine and sake selection as well. Nice open seating and service is friendly. Ample parking amid the tumbleweeds blowing down Main street. read more
