We were a large party of about 15 people that came for bottomless brunch. I had emailed their manager a couple weeks before to ensure we got a table and they had the capacity. Everything ran smoothly and I had to put down a card to ensure we would arrive for our reservation which is normal. The experience at brunch was ok. Service and employees were really friendly and good about bringing bottles of champagne when we ran out. I love that you can make your own and mix it with different juices, the strawberry was my fav! For food it was definitely pricier than I thought it would be and it tasted average. I got the chicken sandwich which was pretty dry. Most of the traditional breakfast seemed good. The one dish that really stood out to me was the popcorn chicken which came with a really good dipping sauce. It was delicious and a hit at our table. Overall it wasn't a brunch experience that stood out to me, but I didn't have any huge complaints either. read more

Came to 801 Shaw for brunch. This place was a bit crowded and really loud, but representative of people having a good time! The music were all hits (Spice Girls was a great choice ) though sometimes it got too loud so I couldn't even here the others at my table. I got the breakfast tacos with the hashbrowns which was okay. The hashbrowns were seasoned really well but the choice to put quinoa was... interesting but not really for me. The breakfast tacos I wish had more of an egg flavor than avocado and chorizo flavor, as well as more flavoring, but it was nice and light. A cute place in Shaw! read more

Solid happy hour menu. Drinks were under $8 and food was under $10. The food was fine to me--definitely not overpriced and nothing to write home about. I felt like it was pretty standard DC HH food. The rooftop is nice at sunset! You can hear a lot of street noise so if you're trying to have a conversation, your best bet might be downstairs on a different floor. Service was quick. I celebrated my annual camouflage birthday brunch at the 801 Bar, December 2021. We were on time for our reservation, therefore we were seated immediately. I love sitting on the second floor by the fireplace! It's always intimate and cozy. We ordered the bottomless mimosas with the peach & strawberry purée being my absolute favorite! The waiter brought a bottle and once he realized I was a professional champagne drinker, he brought two! I threw my daughter's bday brunch there in May, so I knew what was delicious on the menu. Therefore I shared that the Bailey's French toast with berries and the Eggs Chesapeake served well-done were my two favorite brunch items. Two of my girls ordered the popcorn chicken & breakfast tacos, which they stated were a little dry. However, the rest of us were quite pleased with the veggie omelet, steak tips, kale Caesar salad, Bailey's french toast, & The Breakfast of Champions. We stopped by for brunch. We didn't do the bottomless since we figured we'd only get 2 or 3 drinks so wasn't worth it. The breakfast sandwich was not good. I took one bite and I was done. It needed more arugula and aioli. The Parmesan truffle fries didn't taste like Parmesan nor truffle. Just tasted like salt. The steak wasn't well seasoned. The steak was only saved by the chimichurri sauce, which also could have been low flavorful. The expresso martinis were sometimes good. I recently went back for a celebration. We made brunch reservation for a party of 15 and this time we ate upstairs, the server was great made sure we had endless refill on our mimosas and drinks. Their unlimited mimosas are really unlimited by bringing out bottles not pitchers. The atmosphere was great as usual this was my second time. I missed my reservation so I just headed straight up to the rooftop bar, I order an orange crush first, I liked it because it was strong enough but without overpowering the orange flavor, then I proceeded to order the steak and eggs. Y'all know if it's brunch, I'ma have it! And of course this spot was sitting in my IG collections, so when I pulled up to the DMV area, I needed to go! We arrived and the first floor was basically empty. I kinda wanted to sit on the second floor but my laziness kicked in. We were greeted and sat quickly (like I said no one was there). I originally came here to endings in the huge Moscow mule, but I didn't see it on the brunch menu and before I asked that bottomless mimosa caught my eyes (if it's bottomless I'ma have it too lol)! I ordered the 8th Street Breakfast Sandwich with bacon and substituted my fruit for the hash. And for the mimosas I tried the strawberry and peach juices ($20/person). The breakfast sandwich was exquisite and they didn't overdo it with the pesto, just the right amount. I did find the bottom of the mimosas (judge yourself), but I opted to not get another bottle because we had errands to run after and yeah you adulting is all about balance. This place is bomb!!! Food is amazing & bottomless mimosas are delicious. For me, a quality bottomless restaurant must NOT serve premixed mimosas. So having the variety of juices along with the Gran Valor champagne bottle, complete does it for me. I rave about this place to all my friends cause it never disappoints! Just a QUICK FYI- during college/school season they get lots of college students and they tend to ask for IDs at the door. Sometimes that line can get a little long but rest assure your reservation won't be cancelled and just try to remember that tasty food and mimosas await you. Also because you got a young crowd surrounding you, expect to feel a bit like at a dorm party, loud music, a here and there birthday shots celebration/clapping etc. If this is not the experience for you, try going in the summer or winter. Bottomless brunch! They have $20 bottomless build your own mimosas that includes grapefruit, strawberry, orange and pear juice (all of which were really good). They have a 2 hour limit that starts when you are seated. We ordered the french toast, breakfast burger, and the breakfast tacos. The burger came with a fried egg and was super satisfying, as well as the french toast. They have a really nice outdoor patio that is able to accommodate big parties (they also have a rooftop area too). We all did the bottomless mimosas and the variety of juices were nice and the bottles kept coming over our 2 hour brunch. The brisket hash was amazing. Very flavorful with plenty of food. The presentation was nice , the service was prompt , however the tacos themselves where less than flavorful. The pairing of all of the ingredients made the tacos mushy , they also where devoid of flavor . It didn't have any flavor no seasoning , the chorizo got lost in the mix I couldn't taste it at all . The drink I had was the Paloma I believe it was spelled , it was some sort of tequila drink , it was just ok , it tasted like seltzer water , so I was not to happy about that . When you walk in you feel a great energy and when you sit down, you are attended to promptly. I can't quite remember her name but I think it's Noel. She was nothing shot of amazing bas she attended to several tables with ease. It was quite a site to see as she delivered champagne bottles and entrees with quickness and a smile, seemingly memorizing orders and request with encyclopedia memory. I had their signature burger and my friends had steak and eggs. It was clear that we all enjoyed our meals because the plates were empty at the conclusion of our meal. A definite highlight was the bottomless mimosas set up. Not only do you get fresh champagne but you get four different mixers. Who does that? They do and you will enjoy it. We came here for brunch on Sunday. I recommend reservations because it fills up quickly due to the good brunch specials. They also have a nice rooftop. Food is average and bland for brunch, the service is also pretty slow. We had the breakfast tacos and 8th street sandwich. The tacos needed hot sauce and pepper to give it flavor. The sandwich also needed some hot sauce. The bottomless brunch special is pretty good! You get a bottle of champagne and four different fruit juices for an extra $16 per person. Every time I go to 801, it's usually for brunch and it never disappoints me! The restaurant has two levels and although smaller inside, its very cute ! The service is always amazing, no complaints. The real star of the show (aside from me of course) is the brunch! I can rave allllll day long about how those buttermilk pancakes were so fluffy, served with fruit to add a little sweetness to it. The bacon is perfect, not too crunch but just right. I tried the egg scramble, I'm a little biased because I'm not a big fan of eggs, HOWEVER, the egg scramble and the breakfast sandwich were both very good. Of course my day wouldn't have been complete if I didn't have the fries, which were absolutely perfect. Well seasoned with a nice crunch but still maintaining its fluffiness. The drinks were great! Came here spontaneously for happy hour and I say that it was a SOLID win. HH is 4-7pm. We came a little after 6 on a Friday. We were on the main floor. Fairly empty. Service was on point and fast. I ordered the steak tidbits which come over fries and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious. It had a horseradish cream sauce drizzled (soaked really) on top and peppers/onions. It looked small but it filled me up. I did eat some of my friend's pomme frites as well with the sides of garlic aioli and chipotle sauce and ketchup and those are also scrumptious. She had the mahi tacos which she said she really liked. To drink, I had the 801 lemonade which was also absolutely on point. And if I weren't working a long shift the next day, I'd have gotten more than one. Alas.... Overall 10/10 food with 10/10 service. Being back is a must. I want to first say that I was impressed by the call from the host calling to confirm the reservations and ask whether the rooftop or main dining room was preferred. I found this place from a video online and thought it was cute for a girlfriends date so we booked! We decided to sit on the rooftop. This place's decor has the potential to be IT; it photographs well however in person it's kinda just "meh" :/. A lot of restaurants are taking this approach with decor with the neon signs, flowers and quotes and such but if you aren't going to do it full on; don't do it at all lol. It's like they started to make it super picturesque and just said eff it lol. It's cute, don't get me wrong but some aspects seem unfinished. The second level is cute and cozy, less flowers, but it's closed. The food was tasty! No complaints there. Nice array of options and good drinks. We had the calamari and lobster Mac and cheese balls for appetizers, the 8 St. chicken sandwich and the risotto for our entrees and i ordered the grill cheese with brisket for my boyfriend to go. I absolutely loved the seafood risotto. Must try. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The grill cheese is like a triple decker lol not sure if we missed that detail on the menu but my boyfriend said he could've went without the third slice of bread. The service was decent. I had an issue with a drunk St. Patrick day patron, and another group had an issue with a homeless guy literally sitting down at their table while sitting in the outside patio area. The manager was apologetic for both situations. We were offered a free round of drinks, I'm not sure what the other group was offered. If you need a spot at the last minute for a large group of people (10-15) this is the spot for you. The food and drinks are very affordable for DC and for the most part, it is very good. The drinks are strong and the portion size of the food is amazing for the prize. Items I've tried recently are the spinach dip, calamari, steak frites, and fish tacos. I would recommend all of the above. My friends endorsed the jambalaya pasta, lobster roll, and lobster scampi. The service is also pretty good overall. read more

I came here for brunch with 3 other people. Making a reservation was fairly easy and done online. That location is easy to find and it is a corner intersection. We ordered the bottomless mimosas and I ordered steak and fries with eggs for my entree. The food was food, eggs were well cooked, and fries were crispy. I like the fact that the mimosa was there for you to pour and there were 4 different kinds of juices. The service was good as our server gave us champagne bottles immediately once the other one is empty. The only issue I had was the hostess. I didn't know that you had to specify when booking where you want to be. There is an upstairs which I would've preferred. The guy just seemed like he hated his life and couldn't care less about us. My friend and I went upstairs to check out the rooftop and I don't think you can eat brunch there but we saw people drinking at the bar. We took a pic by the lead wall and the light sign so that was cool. This would probably be a better place in the summer when the rooftop is open. read more

Returned to 801 after a few years for brunch with a friend. Arrived right when the restaurant opened and was seated at what felt like the worst table in the corner on the roof despite every table except one being open. Had the french toast with bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. The french toast was great, as was the bacon and eggs. The hashbrowns are a little odd. They're made with quinoa and what I assume is spinach. Not bad but a bit of an odd take on hashbrowns that overall don't really match the vibe of this place. From what I could tell there was only one server for the entire rooftop. He did a great job and service was fast and excellent. The drinks were also very good. Because of covid there is a 2 hour time limit on the tables that they are very strict about. We didn't know about the time limit until we had 20 minutes left in our reservation and got kicked out of our table a little before the full 2 hours. Our checks were dropped off really early too, well before we were done ordering drinks. Thankfully the food and drinks came out fast but overall I felt very rushed. I wasn't even done my drink when our table was told our time was up. Our table didn't do bottomless mimosas and it seemed like the tables who did, particularly the one that was seated before I arrived, got a little more time. Overall it was very nice having brunch on the rooftop and since it's slightly covered it's nice for outdoor eating and the music they play is fun. I wouldn't come back though. I've been to plenty of restaurants with timed tables, all of which gave plenty of heads up and at least an extra 10 minutes to finish eating/drinking before being rushed out. It's super off putting being rushed out of a table, especially when you're still ordering and eating/drinking. read more
