I understand nerves and not wanting to mess up, but being in the customer service industry you should have some sort of depth to you & your conversation (Even if it's fake). I came here a couple of days ago to get my hair curled for a family photo shoot and Rowena was so amazing and accommodating. I kept changing my appointment time and she was very nice about it. We had some great conversations while I was in her chair and she also shared about some good eats in Maui. She knew I was on a schedule and had to be somewhere at a certain time, so she worked her magic as quickly as possible without compromising the end result. I also appreciated her giving me some extra hair pins, so I could use to do my own daughter's hair. Overall, I had a great experience at 808 Salon. My curls came out beautiful and held throughout the photo shoot even though it was windy on the beach. Even our photographer complimented how good they looked. I have thin, wavy hair and I came into the salon wanting a cut and natural looking balayage. After reading the prior success reviews and seeing the many pictures, I decided to give 808 Hair Salon a try. Jeremy was very thorough and meticulous from the start. He took the time to look at my hair and listen to what I wanted and did not want. Most stylist would usually jump the gun and do what they think will look nice on you. Not this guy. He is also the first stylist to tell me that what I wanted isn't going to look like the picture the first time around. Thank you for being real with me Jeremy. Jeremy also had an awesome assistant whom helped to wash, prep, and dry my hair. All the products they used smelled so good! This experience was money well spent and did not break my bank! Part of their covid protocol, they require you to text when you arrive. I first thought that was a bit inconvenient, but now I just go sit at Amigos next door and watch a game and have a cocktail while I wait for my stylist to be ready. Absolutely the worst service that I have ever received. Called initially to get a hair cut and dyed. They weren't to busy, they were able to get me in the next day. Spent about three hours in the salon getting 1" removed of split ends. Then the stylist "Rowena" suggested that I get highlights in order to get the purple dye to hold and show better. After the highlights with my hair still wet the stylist told me she was going to mix the permanent dye in with toner to give it a more natural look and allow the color to darken from the roots down. After all is said and done the hair looked nice and we took pictures at the end of the session. I waited 24hrs before using a color safe matrix Biolage shampoo and conditioner to wash my hair. As soon as my hair was dry nearly all of the color was gone and I was left with a faint hue of stained hair. I called the salon and spoke to "Katelyn" she said to text pictures before they could help. I sent pictures of the lack of color to their main line. Waited over two hours for a response. After a lot of back and forth texting she told me that my hair product was the fault and that I would need to buy a $400 set of purple shampoo. Then told me that if I wanted to try and get my hair fixed I would need to come in on there scheduled time and that I can not use the color safe products that I selected. I came in 10mins early then waited another 20mins before I could get inside. Once the stylist agreed to speak with me it became 5mins of her yelling at me, while I'm almost in tears just trying to get my hair fixed or get a refund for the highlights $105 and color $30. They agreed to refund me only for the "vibrant" color that they put in, and not the highlights that I didn't want. I was so fed up with how I was treated, that I couldn't wait around to get a refund while they continue to blame me. The sad part is that the original appointment was enjoyable. The stylist was kind and I left a generous tip. Come to find out that as soon as I needed real customer service, it was like a switch flipped this salon is shady at best. I will never EVER! Go back. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

While Visiting beautiful Kihei last month I decided growing out my hair for the past year made me look a bit drab-so I booked online a haircut with Fabrice Mira from 808 Salon. (The salon is off the main road and easy to find.) Once there- Fabrice asked some questions, checked out my hair and face structure and went to work cutting my hair lenght then adding layers. He knows hair types and I felt confident I'd like the outcome of this style. I saw the end results of his previous client before me, who was much younger, and she looked beautiful! I cannot say enough good things about Kat! I brought her a mess and she made it into a miracle. I dyed my hair a vibrant blue at home and then asked her for ashy blonde. She took me to the icy blonde of my dreams in only two sessions! The before pic in this review is the start of my second session. I appreciate that she was conservative with bleach the first time around because she actually listened and cared that I was adamant about keeping my length. She recommended the Olaplex "bond builder" that they have available to purchase and it is my new favorite product! We were in town for my brother's wedding but because there were no stylists planning to be at the venue, the mothers of the grooms and myself decided to find a salon to visit the morning of the wedding. We booked an appointment at 808 Hair Salon because they were open on Sundays, very prompt in calling us back, and had a stylist (Petra) who had confidence with all types of hair including black and textured. We met up at the salon and as we each showed her the style we wanted, she had complete confidence in her abilities to do exactly what we each needed (and they were all very different). There's nothing worse than showing a pic of hair to a stylist and having them say, "Well, I've never done that, but let's give it a try." So I appreciated Petra's confidence in being able to do the styles. She put us all at ease. Petra was incredibly proficient in the different techniques and products and we all loved our hair at the end. Very POOR service from an owner and very sad representation for Maui. I had an appointment with Jeremy and the minute he sat down to ask me what I wanted done he had an attitude with me. I let him know I was wanting to let my gray grow out but wanted some type of transition so not so drastic. He told me "I can highlight your hair with the time allowed". Not offering any options... He then told me that there was nothing he could do besides that & wasn't sure how it would come out because I use BOX color on my hair like it was a crime. I let him know when I did color my hair I used professional color because my mom on the mainland secured for me. He grabbed his phone and started reading that I had been there 2 years ago for highlights. (not me) I sat there quietly stunned because his words and tone were so insulting I was taken by surprise. He left to mix & as I thought about spending my hard-earned money and sitting in a chair for 1.5 hours with his hateful attitude, I calmly left letting the receptionist know why. As I was getting into my car he ran out of the salon & told me that if leaving I just wasted HIS time and to never make an appointment or come back to the salon. I never write reviews but people deserve to know. Since then I have had several people tell me similar stories about his attitude & that they had left reviews as such. Where are they???
