Fantastic experience and a journey through fine dining. We were thrilled to be part of the restaurant's 5th year Anniversary and they used the occasion to introduce bison and beef from the Tangen Draw Ranch. There is street parking but we chose to use the nearby Butler Parking garage, a 3 minute walk away. Easy digital payment. There is a wine bar next to the restaurant which made a great place to chill while waiting for our reservation time. The Chardonnay was especially fruity and delightful. 84 Yesler was built on the vision and passion of Takahashi Susumu, a well-known entrepreneur who firmly believes in the revival of the Pioneer Square area and continues to be one of its champions. The restaurant is well-designed, airy interior, an open kitchen, short steps separating two levels of dining spaces. There is a full bar at the rear of the restaurant. The staff are professional and attentive. The dinnerware was carefully selected and a delight to use especially with the uniquely crafted dishes in the special course. The bison tartare was my favorite, so well crafted and complemented. It was fine dining at its best and we were privileged to experience it!

I moved from Seattle to Chicago a couple years ago and this is the restaurant I always look forward to returning to. The fines herbs pappardelle with lemon beurre blanc & Dungeness crab is a perfect dish, as are the Parmesan churros. Service is quiet and impeccable. The space is gorgeous. This place should have a Michelin star, if they ever visit Seattle

We had dinner with a large group last night and did not have any expectation since we are from out of town. The restaurant is very well designed and ambience was dim but not dark, and in my mind, perfect. Service was excellent with Sarah being the star of the night. She was very patient with us, extremely meticulous, and had a great sense of humor! They were also very mindful of making sure the food came out all at once but also made sure food wasn't cold if the guest was away from the table. I had the Far East Old Fashioned which was made with a Japanese whisky, Hibiki. Not usually used in an old fashioned drink but it is a light smoky, citrusy whisky and worked very well with this drink. I'd use the word "crushable" with this drink. So good! Onto the food: simply phenomenal. The appetizers were so good. I thoroughly enjoyed the beef tartare, octopus, and foie gras. It was a toss up for me between the beef tartare and the octopus with the hollandaise sauce and salmon eggs. Both are amazingly delicious. I had the seared scallops and the sea bass. Both were excellent but the sea bass takes the win on this one. The desserts: all were tasty and so dang creative from the flavors to the dry freeze pea powder under the sorbets. In summary, this restaurant ranks exceptionally high and I'd say probably top 5 for me. Compared to other Michelin ranked restaurants, 84 Yesler ranks among them for sure! Compliments to the chef and the team. Amazing restaurant.

Dinner with our friends tonight. I was hesitate due to traffic and parking Parking: we got free street parking around yesler at and around the block. Free after 6pm. Otherwise, 2hr free or you can pay in the parking lot around the block if you arrived way earlier before 6pm. Restroom: clean and gender neutral Japanese style setting due to Japanese owner. When we seated, the owner stopped by our table to greet us and thank us for coming to his restaurant. I love that!! The menu has both tasting menu and a la carte style. We ordered almost every single dish on the menu. Appetizers: Seared foie gras - my fav Burrata - the dandelion leaf us a bit bitter Beef tartare - my Smoked octopus - a tad bit dry Parmesan churros - love it Pasta: Fine herb papardelle - yum Mushroom cestini - love the braised lamb with this Dry aged salmon & gnocchi - gnocchi can be more chewy, salmon a bit dry Large plates: American wagyu ribeye - yummy Seared scallops - very nice, big and juicy Sea Bass - taste like Japanese cod miso kazuzuje Desserts: Citrus pavlova - light and citrucy Tres Leche- my fav, coffee, the cake us super moist Apple cake - a tad too sweet for me Complimentary macadamia hazelnut truffle Overall food is amazing. Most importantly, the service is outstanding. When we were leaving, the owner bow and thanked us again for coming. That's a 5 stars service!! Ps: we were there from 6:15pm-10pm ...lol

Great place for drink. Great service and close enough to the stadiums if you're the area for a ball game. Seems to get pretty busy specially during weekends and parking can be challenging. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Enjoyed a phenomenal meal here while visiting Seattle. The restaurant itself is thoughtfully designed and has beautiful mid century features, which allowed for a relaxed yet intimate dining atmosphere. They offer a chef's tasting menu or a la carte. We decided to select items a la carte, but the tasting menu looked wonderful and we hope to try it next time. We ordered the focaccia, Parmesan churros, crab pappardelle, and the sea bass. Everything was Michelin star level, but the sea bass is what stood out. It was hands down the best fish dish I've had because of the quality, taste, and creativity. The service was also perfect. Everyone was so knowledgeable and friendly. We will make this a regular addition to our trips to Seattle from now on.

Loved the food. Service can be slower if there is a private party at the same time when you are there. The chef, Christine is amazing and so is the owner . Food can be more innovative but it's on point with taste.

My good friend and I visited this cool and cozy restaurant for dinner and it did not disappoint. She got a glass of wine and I ordered a dirty vodka martini - yum! We got the Beef Tartar and Fine Herbs Pappardelle dish which had crab meat in it and boy it was so delicious I had to tell her to shut up and take a bite lol. Afterwards the chef brought out two rich chocolate hazelnut truffles for us and those were yummy too! We were greeted by all the workers, and they were very pleasant! We are definitely going back here!

Holy moly...this is by far my favorite place in Seattle and we make it a point to come here whenever we are in town! It's been 2 visits to Seattle since August and 3 visits to 84 Yesler! The service here is beyond exceptional, as well as the food. It's also such a treat to watch the professionalism and well trained team in the open kitchen - which is extremely quiet. You wouldn't even know they were there if you couldn't see them. They have an on-site sommelier who is always eager to help you pick out wines to go with your food. On our last visit I told him what I liked and he brought out a wine that I had never had before and it was phenomenal and exactly what I was looking for. On another visit, he paired wines with our tasting menu and it was perfection! We've chosen to do the a la carte menu twice and the tasting menu once. You really can't go wrong with whatever you choose! Their menu changes often, as they use fresh ingredients and it's based on what they can locally source. One menu item that I will not go without is the butter bacon lettuce as a salad starter. It is probably the best salad I have ever consumed. I would recommend this to anyone and believe it's always on the menu. The Parmesan churros are also fun and different! All of the pastas I've had here have been my favorite dishes out of everything and I don't think you can go wrong with ordering one of the seasonal pasta dishes on the menu. All of the noodles are homemade and have the perfect bite! Desserts here are gorgeous and not to be missed. Honestly, all dishes I've had here are a work of art...just look at my photos! The chef here knows exactly what she is doing and her team is so well run. The experience you get here is 12/10 from start to finish and I can't wait to go back when I'm in Seattle next. Wish I could get an 84 Yesler in Orlando!

Summary: Excruciatingly slow, but tasty, seafood Details: * Nicer, slightly upscale Italian with a focus on seafood * Pretty solid food all around, and while some of the seafood felt a little overcooked, it didn't detract from the dishes much * Highlights included their beef tartare, parmesan churros, and chocolate truffles (complimentary for everyone, possibly?) * Service was great, but dishes came out excruciatingly slowly, with ~10-15min waits between the three courses our order was broken up into (appetizers, small plates, entrees) Accessibility: There's both an upper and lower level to the restaurant, with the lower being perfectly accessible, so be sure to request when making reservations!

Parmesan Churros... This dish is addictive and inspired.

Easily one of my favorite spots in Seattle. The food is unique and inspired without being pretentious. Staff is friendly and personable, creating memorable experiences. Do yourself a favor and go, but also sign up for their email list, as they do special dinners and brunches here and there outside of normal hours.

I came across this place by pure chance, and was intrigued by the unanimously positive reviews. With that, as soon as the opportunity came up, I had to check it out, and this place quite lived up to its high praise. From the elegant space with a large open kitchen and open brick walls, to the beautiful and delicious food (both the lobster tajarin and the citrus pavlova were exquisite), to the excellence service, it was all a 5 out of 5 experience.

I am very upset at how my friends and I were treated by the waitstaff at this restaurant after the Truffle Dinner on Nov 30, so I will not be back. The chef and waitstaff are unprofessional for such a "fine dining" restaurant where they charge exorbitant prices. Before Nov 30, I went to this restaurant semi regularly like 5 times a year to the point where everyone recognized my face. I'm not sure why I was treated so poorly despite being a regular customer. I went to this restaurant with a big group of my friends for the Truffle Dinner event because one of my friends really loves this restaurant's special dinners and asked a bunch of us to join. I personally don't like these special dinners and preferred to order a la carte because the special dinners are a poor value but went to hang out. The service took over 3 hours for only 5 courses and many of us were still hungry at the end. Since 2 of my friends and I reserved on Tock for the event, and it was getting late on a work night, 3 of us decided to leave early. We didn't realize that the Tock payment didn't include a service fee/tip until after we left, so we asked one of our friends who stayed behind to cover the additional $50/person of tip for us. We were going to pay him back. A little while later, our friend texts us and says the restaurant charged us additional $30 tax each due to some complicated issue they were having with Tock and their POS. We were en route to go home but decided to go back to the restaurant to fix the bill since we were double taxed. We went back and found our waiter. Our waiter, Justin, would not help us and blamed us for leaving before paying taxes and tip like we were trying to dine and dash. We already paid the tax through Tock but he insisted it was a booking fee and that we didn't pay them tax. He even said he gave the person who footed the rest of our bill a bottle of wine "for his troubles", as if this person was a random benevolent stranger who sympathized with the restaurant, and not our friend. The waiter acted like we tried to screw the restaurant over or were bad customers for leaving so he wasn't going to help us any further. This is after they charged $320 each for the meal plus the $30 in double tax. Anyway, Sam the owner sees this exchange and asks us to write him an email to get the refund. He gives us his business card. We oblige and leave the restaurant since everyone was tired. My friend, Yen, writes the email but Sam refers us to email Christina who is the head chef and head of waitstaff. She basically tells us the same story the waiter did and accuses us of walking out on the bill and that the over charge happened because of our misunderstanding with Tock. She basically told us to go take it up with Tock even though it was the restaurant who was incompetent and can't figure out their own system and double charged us tax. We were eventually able to get our money back through contacting Sam again but it took us 4 days of emailing back and forth. I also wrote 84 Yesler an email giving them feedback about the whole experience and how the service needs to improve since they are trying for James Beard award. Christina then responds and chides me for bothering an 82 year old man and causing him undue stress and that in the future I should just email her. I'm shocked at this rude response because Christina refused to help us and also the owner Sam, gave us his business card and told us to contact him. Christiana and the waiter refused to help us so what were we supposed to do other than bother the owner? It was weird how the owner Sam asked us to contact him but then the head chef stepped in and told us off. I never got a genuine apology except the fake "I'm sorry, you walked out on the bill, go contact Tock" story. Anyway regarding the food here. The only two dishes worth a salt are the Lobster Tajarin and the foie gras. These two dishes are exceptional I'll give them that. Christiana excels at cooking Italian dishes. They keep raising the prices on them though. The tajarin used to be $32 now it's over $40. The rest of the menu is only okay and the cocktails are mediocre at best. The special event menus (eg Truffle dinner, Japan night, NYE) are a total rip off and you will leave hungry after a 3-4 hour dinner. I enjoyed the truffle meal despite the little amount of food but the dishes are a hit or miss. The Italian themed meals are the best as that's the cuisine where the chef excels but the Asian, American, themed ones are no good. If you get a wine pairing, you'll be leaving with a $500 dent to your wallet, otherwise over $300 for just food. 84 Yesler has no business charging 2 star Michelin star level prices for the mediocre service and little amount of food they give here. No surprise they didn't make even James Beard semi finalists. I've been here at least 7 times (lost count) in the last 2 years but will not be returning due to my most recent experience.

She recommended a Mezcal cocktail that was a great start! Surprising because it wasn't smoky typical to Mezcal, just perfectly balanced. Exactly what I wanted. For my main, I went with the short rib pappardelle. It was incredibly rich, and the meat was cooked to perfection. Hailee was attentive and made me feel welcome at the table, which isn't always the case when you're a party of one. Incredible service and an all-around top-tier meal. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Seattle!

A puzzling experience. When we arrived the place was 25% full. When asked if we wanted bar or…read morerestaurant, I answered restaurant. The hostess walked us through the entire restaurant to the dark back wall, behind the bar. With tall bar chairs. Explained we didn't want that, she walked us back through the entire restaurant to a nice table up front by the windows. Tried a Malbec duo. One was delicious and didn't like the other at all; oddly tannic. The grilled mortadella should have been more grilled. Sitting in a generous portion of burratta-like cheese, olive oil and pistachio butter, it was delicious. But desperately needed some bread. How do eat this without any bread? Once the mortadella is gone, you are just eating spoonfuls of cheese, oil and butter? We hadn't seen our waitress since the app arrived. Having finished the mortadella we finally flagged down someone and asked if we could get a little bread. He said he would handle it right away. Another 10 minutes goes by and our waitress came by. Apologized for not being around and went to see about the bread. Finally got the bread, and it was delicious. But sooooo oily! Like a sponge it dozed oil every time I tried to break off a piece. Was dying to wash my hands. Our entrées were ok. The fried chicken with fusilli was pretty good, but difficult to eat in the deep bowl. Hard to cut. The crispy tofu wrap wasn't crispy and wasn't made well. I have absolutely no idea what flavor profile it was meant to be. Just muddy. I tried to eat the first half. It was stuffed so full it was impossible to eat. I took out more than half the filling before I could manage it. When I got to the second half I understood the issue. There was almost no crispy tofu, but lots of lettuce and other fillings. Maybe it would have eaten better if it had been constructed better. The fries were fine. Pleasant server, but perhaps had too many tables as we didn't get the service expected. It's been a long time since dining at the downtown Purple. Likely wouldn't go back.
