After having lunch nearby, I stopped in for a coffee. The interior is small with four tables (two 4-tops and two 2-tops). I ordered a hot smokey maple latte. It was made with bourbon reduction, maple, hickory, sea salt, and of course, espresso & milk. Although I couldn't really taste the bourbon, all the other flavors were present from the sweet maple, smokey hickory, and occasional bursts of sea salt. Oh, and a great roast of coffee. The atmosphere inside wasn't quite what I expected for a cafe in Brea. The interior felt a bit small and a little dirty, and I could see it becoming difficult to move around if it got more crowded. The walkway to order drinks is also the same path staff members use to access the back, which only leaves enough space for one person at a time. This is a perfect example of everybody trying to run their own matcha brand and it just doesn't go right. If you're going to start a matcha business at least make sure you understand the techniques and what people really want... It's not any of the baristas fault as they are probably just following what the owners tell them. You can definitely taste a stint in a matcha. Ideally you want your matcha looking dark green and tasting like sweet dirt. Now I know what you're saying "well why don't you just order the double matcha?" because it wouldn't be a latte and I'd want more milk? Charging an extra $1 for matcha is also abyssal, $6.50 with an einspanner + $1 for extra matcha? No thanks I'd rather go to ROK, Stagger, or DAMO. At least I know they use a higher quality matcha, I may get less volume on milk but their simple syrups are made in house. read more

I am so glad I stopped in, their food and coffee did not disappoint! We enjoyed the pre-selected coffee flight for $15 along with two different breakfast options. The staff were friendly and attentive. The shop is on the smaller side, with a few tables inside and about 3 outside. Just a note, the tables intended to seat two people were a little small, especially when eating and trying the coffee flight - so if available snag a larger table. The newest coffee shop in Brea & it's busy!! This shop is inside a big plaza with target with lots of parking! Entrance is easy to see. This used to be the previous Sunmerry cafe and bakery, but they rebranded to piccolo. They just released new bagels, which are delicious. Especially the smoked salmon one. I love their Matcha cream top latte, taste is consistent & yummy!! Great space for work and study, with lots of natural lighting. Definitely recommend this gem! read more

My review is solely based off the matcha, so I can't speak for the other drinks which may be better. I ordered the Matcha Creamtop, which was unfortunately very disappointing. The drink just tasted like watered down milk, and I could barely taste any matcha. The cream top was also a very thin and mild foam that just mixed with the drink and made it even less flavorful. Maybe it was an off day, but I did not enjoy the drink and couldn't finish it. The service was quick, in and out. There's a few tables inside to sit and hang out. Goodbye Sunmerry Coffee, hello Piccolo Coffee! Same owners, different vibe. Their Instagram page is the same and their POS system still has the old shop name on it via online receipt. I had a subpar experience back when Sunmerry first opened up but I thought I'd give this place a shot because they're specializing more into coffee drinks and not just milk/fruit teas. I went in a few days ago right when they opened up and ordered three drinks. While making up my mind, the girl working at the register had no emotion at all. Didn't even ask if I needed any assistance or to order when ready. There was initially a woman ahead of me but I noticed the conversation was really dry. The whole time I was ordering and paying, it was awkward silence. When I picked up my drink, they said thank you and that was it. I left underwhelmed. I then went in again this morning around 10:30AM and the place was pretty packed. The girl working at the register was friendlier and more vocal, but when my drink was ready to be picked up, I said thank you and I got the cold shoulder... awkward. Here's everything I've tried: **Pistachio Rose (Hot): Ordered this half sweet and it didn't have any sweetness at all. I got no pistachio flavor at all. The only flavors I can make out were a slight hint of espresso, rose, and milk. (2/5) **Matcha Creamtop: I opted out for oat milk for my matcha latte. The matcha itself was on the lighter end but the creaminess was perfect. The cream top was on the sweeter side and nothing out of the ordinary. (3/5) **Americano (Iced): One of the most disgusting americanos I've ever had. It tasted burnt and extra bitter. I threw away 3/4 of the drink. (0/5) There's a few tables available inside but there's nowhere to wait for your drinks when you're standing around because the interior space is so tiny. Obviously, the service during both of my visits were subpar but the drinks come out in a very timely manner. Drinks are also about a dollar cheaper than most other small coffee shops like this one. They're newly renovated but they have a lot to improve on. I don't think I'll be back any time soon because there are so many great coffee shops around the city of Fullerton and Brea. read more

After hitting up Crumbl cookie on a "free cookie day", we were very happy to walk next door to fulfill our need. My little guy got an Everything bagel with their honey cream cheese. I know that sounds gross in theory, but he loved it so much. The cream cheese was handmade with love and he liked the mix of savory bagel with his sweet cream cheese. I got a perfect decaf Americano so I was happy too. And the little guy ate his bagel, while we sat at a clean table in their cute shop and did his homework. Com here for the coffee flight. this place has a unique variety of different coffees. I would recommend getting a flight so you can try the different unique coffee that they offer. The matchas were grainy and heavy on the milks. Thankfully we were able to change our drinks to their coffees due to our dissatisfaction with the Matcha quality, that's their specialty, so many unique coffee options!
