It's a local grocery store that has fresh produce, fresh pasta, a meat counter, deli counter, bakery, wide selection of wine and liquor, and all the aisles in between. The best thing about Draegers is that they not only carry the well known brands, but also local brands and products too. This is probably the worst Draeger's there is and is more similar to an Andronico's since they lack the unique Draeger's housewares section every other Draeger's location has. After hearing the Blackhawk location was closing the honey and I decided while we were in the South Bay to visit the two other locations. I was very surprised to find that outside the Draeger's hummus I love, this location is just like any other supermarket, including multiple rude handmade signs for where to stand for checkout. The service was standoffish, although I did like that this location had picnic benches outside to eat at and a nice sized parking lot. All in all at the end of the day it's between a 3 to 3.4 to me and we likely won't be back. read more

Okay well every place should be given a second chance in my mind. I was a bit too hard on them the last time I was in here. So I have gone in in the last month or so, it was much better and looked better and I felt more at home, I have moved my placement of stars with them. I placed a catering order for the bakery dept for 6 (6 ct) cupcakes with no cupcake toppers, just the rainbow sprinkles probably about 1 week before the date. Ordering online was so easy and convenient. I also loved that they had cream cheese frosting which is a lot healthier than the regular which definitely helped me go with the decision to place my catering order with Draegers. On the day of pick up, I was helped by a kind lady behind the counter and she found my order. I noticed they did not have the rainbow sprinkles. I also saw she was reviewing the order notes for accuracy , something I wouldn't think an associate would do upon pick up. Usually they'd just hand you your order. I saw she looked confused and she asked me if I wanted the sprinkles on top. Very relieved, I said yes, please. I was so appreciative of the extra care she took to make sure my order was correct. I wish I got her name, but I very much thank you for helping me out that day :) she even helped me load all of them into my cart and asked if I needed help loading into my car. Very pleasant experience and this does help shape my decision to come back for future grocery/catering order visits. read more

Always enjoy shopping at Dreagers Los Altos for the quality, convenience and helpful employees. on July 3, 2026 I tripped and fell in the parking lot. Diane who is a checker and sometimes bagger was right there before I could sit back up and gave first aid (that another employee brought out) and stayed with me making sure that my family was informed what happened and saw me home safely. Sorry, these guys were once a great source for quality, specialty foods, but in 2025 they must have become desperate to pay the rent. Or maybe Amazon is cutting into their business. Because $28 for 6 (yes, SIX) greasy pork ribs with rub spices and no BBQ sauce is outrageous. The meat fell off the bone and it was mostly tasteless. I ordered from instacart to get pork spare ribs to cook for Oktoberfest this weekend at my house, $8/pound, and was mistakenly given these $28/pound Draeger-cooked baby back ribs. I thought I was charged for this crap, but no, it was a simple mistake by the delivery guy. My own baby back ribs are 10 times better at 1/4 the price. Anyone who buys from the deli at this place is insane. I also got their good egg potato salad, which I intended to buy, but didn't know it was $13 for a tiny 1 pound container. So, apparently a larger 2 pound container is $26??? $13 to barely serve two people, when you can get the same thing, made in-house, at Raley's / Nob Hill for about half the price. They still have good, hard to find specialty items, but watch out for the rip-off landmine items. If they have what you need, you'll only be buying one or two items, then driving down the street to buy the rest for much less at Nob Hill. Many of the items at this place are priced like we are in Hawaii. 1 star because they exist as an alternative and 1 star because they still sell the hard to find stuff, some of which you can't find anywhere else, even at Nob Hill. More than ever before, they only cater to ultra-rich people who don't know they shouldn't be paying $28 for SIX pork ribs. And, hate to say it, do not be surprised if you go into this place in person and the other patrons who pay these insane prices look at you like a piece of dirt on the bottom of their shoe. About one in four Draeger's patrons have a serious attitude problem, and about one in six workers are the same. Instacart is the way to go if you really, really need something they have in stock more than waiting a day for the exact same thing from Amazon. read more

This store has very bad customer service. The cashier was very rude and had a very bad temper. His name was Craig K, as listed on his name tag. We asked him if there were any pumpkin pies available as we couldn't see any pies especially on the day before Thansksgiving. He responded very rudely by telling us that they didn't have pumpkin pies and turned his head away and ignored us. I can't believe that such a very expensive and overpriced store like Draeger's would even hire such as a rude person to deal with customers. We will never go back to this store again. read more

LOUSY customer service in the Bakery Department. I paid $28 one week ago for a pumpkin pie to pick up today. I reserved a time slot to arrive. I drive over only for them to tell me they were sold out! Whaaaaa??? They sold my pie to some schmuck who rolled in off the street!? RUDE!!! My adult daughter brought her small dog in a completely enclosed bag helping her dad who is a weekly customer from forever. She has rearranged her life in NYC to help me out as I am In the hospital. Props to the crazy employee who went ballistic shoving her dog policy in my daughter's face and yelling being beyond rude. She hunted her down and chose to humiliate her by making a scene. I'm extremely disappointed and angry by the treatment my boyfriend received from an employee named Craig K. We came to the store with our fully trained and certified service dog, and Craig immediately confronted us with attitude and suspicion because our dog's breed didn't fit his personal idea of what a service dog "should" look like. He then proceeded to discriminate against my boyfriend saying he didn't "look" disabled and questioned his legitimacy as someone who needs a service dog... claiming that only individuals who are blind or visibly impaired qualify. This is completely false, discriminatory, and dehumanizing. My boyfriend lives with debilitating chronic pain due to Crohn's disease, and for someone to judge him based on appearance alone is not only ignorant and racist, but deeply hurtful. Service dog laws protect people like him from exactly this kind of prejudice. Craig's behavior was insensitive, uninformed, and completely unacceptable. I sincerely hope this business takes steps to educate its staff about disability rights and service animal laws. No one should be subjected to that kind of treatment for simply existing with a disability that isn't "visible". After reading reviews about how horrible the employees are, we decided that we will NEVER shop here again. read more

Pricey to start with but a pretty nice store. The meat and fish departments are excellent. The deli is and continues to be disaster. They re-arranged it post Covid and all the products hard to see on shallow deep shelves. If you're tall you will have to bend down to see what's there. Then they have put so much junk on top of the deli glass that the generally sluggish staff (who typically have their back to the customers and are speaking to each other) can't even see the customers. I am routinely cut in line because the staff who can't be troubled to keep an eye on the line or verify who's next. Today I got cut off twice (once by a cashier for their lunch) and once when a new person (finally) showed up and just served the person closest to them, not the one who'd be standing there 5 minutes. Net: the deli service absolutely sucks. I no longer patronize the deli department because it's so bad. read more

I love this place! I can't really afford it because the prices are sky-high, but I sometimes stop in for a snack because it's on my way home. But the store is so DARK. When I was in recently, I needed the flashlight on my phone to read labels. The overhead lighting is minimal. Why? They do seem to cater mostly to older people, but older people often have trouble navigating dimly-lit places, so why can't it be a little brighter inside the store? The employees are charming and helpful (except for one guy, but he's my age and probably grumpy because he can't see what he's doing any more than I can). Please turn up your interior lighting, Draeger's. You can afford it! read more

The good: I love how the local products are labeled with a tag so it's easy to find. I was able to get some fun local vinegars as gifts from here and loved the options they had. I tried the strawberry morning bun from here as well as a chocolate dipped raspberry short bread almond cookie. I enjoyed them along with a fun ginger tea, lavender sparkling water outside at their picnic bench area. There's plenty of parking. I like their modern wood sign in the parking lot. They sell dried wild mushroom like chanterelles and morels ($26 for a small bag). The produce are fresh. The aisles are nicely organized. They have a good selection of flowers and prepared vases. The bakery section has nice looking cakes. There's a hot food area. The bad: Overall, things are pricey here. The interesting: They have a cooking class here. Favorite grocery items recommended by the cooking class are labeled in the aisles. They have their own dressings in the fridge section. read more

This is a neat and very clean local market in the area. It is like a Los Altos version of Wholefood. I love their deli and cake/bakery sections. Also, who likes cheese?? Because their selection of cheese is the largest I've seen! This market offers a lot of high end brand products, which is expected provided the area it is located. I like their flowers section too. I often wonder Draeger's can stay in business with these prices. Stopped by to buy a rotisserie chicken at $17.99, where the organic (which this was not) sells at 12.99 at Whole Foods and it tastes much fresher (stamped with time it was packed as well as the day). This tasted like it had sat under the lights for hours, beyond overcooked. The prices are just not competitive with nearby stores like Whole Foods (not even including Safeway). Produce quality is marginally better than Whole Food, but the hot food is inferior. Cheeses are also shockingly more expensive than others (for exact same cheese). read more

My friend had suggested we stop by Draeger's Market so we could stock up in desserts for our picnic! She had mentioned they had a great selection, and they truly lived up to the reputation! As soon as we walked in, we had seen halloween displays surrounding the floral department. It felt very similar to a Lunardi's, but their bakery department was in a league of its own! From corner to corner there were cakes, cookies, marzipans, meringues - you name it, it's there. The bakery staff takes pride in their showmanship, making everything look fresh out of a cooking magazine! Yum! When asking about their custom cakes, we were able to get a quote since every cake looked like it was decorated by an angel. Surprisingly, their custom cakes are fairly priced at around $30 starting/varying based on detailing of the cake itself. Not to mention, they even have custom macaron forms to place an order? Probably the most expensive grocery chain in the Bay Area, but I could be wrong. This location in Los Altos feels smaller than their San Mateo location, but it still has the charm. Don't buy anything you can buy elsewhere as everything is a few dollars more here. The items that are exclusive here, or the speciality that's what you want to get. One of the better grocery bakeries, and well as great deli and meat selection. Overall a nice place, but not a place I would come to often. It makes Whole Foods seems cheap, and that's no easy task. read more

I ordered a $70 tray of stuffed portobello mushrooms, and when I went to pickup the order, they gave me a single stuffed mushroom.....I did not discover this until I was home and reviewed the receipt. I drove 15 minutes each way to pickup this order. I called the catering manager, they said I could come back and pickup the rest of the order. Add 30 minutes for the return trip. When I came back to pickup the rest of the order, I was told the catering manager was out to lunch, and I needed to wait 10 minutes for her to return. I went to Draeger's Market for the first time yesterday. I ordered a quiche and a cake online so I went to pick these items up. The employee at the bakery counter seemed nice. Unfortunately, the employee behind the deli counter was not nice nor welcoming. He did ask me what I needed. When I told him that I was picking up a quiche that was ordered online, he pushed the item towards me on the counter and that was it. There was no thank you or asking if I needed anything else. He shoved the item at me and walked away. It's a shame because the cake and quiche were delicious, which is the only reason I even gave them a 2 star review. I've heard great things about the meat and other grocery items sold here. I am sad to say that I agree with a few other reviews here that Asians are not treated well here. I am Asian and I did not feel welcome. I live in Los Altos and I will just continue to shop at Lucky's and Safeway near my home. read more

Draegers is great if your looking for overpriced items and terrible customer service. I've been to dmv's friendlier than the cast of cooks down at draegers. These people are the most rude and disrespectful people working. The wine sommelier scoffed and rolled his eyes when I asked him if they had a particular wine... the weirdest part was, they did have it. So why he was annoyed is beyond me. At checkout, the soulless cashiers and baggers don't even look you in the eye not even after I say "hello" and "thank you" after they bag my items. They act as if your invisible. It makes me wonder why these people would choose a person to person type of job! The guys in the meat department however, are extremely friendly and helpful. Rock solid, classy dudes who look forward to helping you out! As for the rest of them, you're better off not asking any questions or even saying hello to them because they will take it like you just spit in their eye.
