We asked for cheese and crackers and they charged us... smh then we got the broccoli cheese casserole and there was no cheese at all and the broccoli was literally both raw and burned. They seem to take the easy way out when it's prime rib night but when I pay $35 for a single entree and get up-charged for a side at a "neighborhood family restaurant " they could at least do a decent job. read more

This is a typical 99 with cold beer, free popcorn, and decent pub-style food. I like their burgers, chicken tenders, or the country fried dinner. This particular location is solid because staff are always pleasant no matter how busy they get, and the curbside pick-up is very convenient. Kudos to who ever cooks the burgers at this location. We used to enjoy an occasional meal at the 99 in Fitchburg. We have had our last meal there. We will not be back. We were seated at a dirty table. We requested the server wash the table before putting down our silverware. Our meal was less than the normal meals we were used to getting at this restaurant. My burger was dry and over cooked. French dip was served on soggy bread, the roast beef was microwaved with the cheese then put on the roll. The au jus was spilled on the plate resulting in the soggy roll. What happened to the 99? Even the boneless buffalo were deep fried and not enjoyable. read more

The food is fine - typical chain fare. The staff are always friendly and ready to help. The first problem is the temperature in the restaurant - it's always cold between 11am - 12pm. I realize the restaurant just opened, but people have been there opening it for a while; crank up the heat earlier so it's comfortable when guests arrive. Second, wait staff rarely write down orders. The 99 is a Massachusetts staple and always a go to when visiting. The restaurant is clean, the people are helpful, and the food/drinks are delicious! There was a group of 10 of us (including an infant, a 2 year old, and an 8 year old). They were very accommodating, and didn't seem to mind the business of have 3 children. Our server, Deb, was extremely attentive and friendly. The food came out fest and it was amazing. Ordered the Country Fried Chicken dinner from the Fitchburg location. Very Very disappointed. I am still trying to figure out where the mash potatoes are, let alone the country gravy. What you see in the picture is what i got minus a couple of bites of the chicken, couple fork fulls of corn and a couple bites of the biscuit. Keep in mind, this is the quote from the menu: "COUNTRY FRIED CHICKEN Buttermilk-breaded boneless chicken breast and Maine Russet mashed potatoes with country gravy. Served with cranberry sauce, a warm honey-glazed biscuit and one side." What you see in the first picture at the very top is the "country gravy." I declined the cranberry sauce, so not a problem. The country gravy looked like melted butter in color. In the second photo, you can clearly see the thickness of the chicken "breast". I've been to about 20 different 99 restaurants over the last several years in many state; never had a bad experience. Many times incredibly wonderful experience until tonight. I sat at bar a half hour before closing. This location It's a neighborhood bar where locals get treated more favorably than out of towners like myself.. Bartender Julia was rude, gossiped about me to two groups at bar and to other bartender. She was sharp with her responses to me, I waited forever for something I'd asked for and was told it was Kate because kitchen is closing. My meat was rare not medium rare. Again I had to wait for other bartender, Chad, to stop chatting w local folks to get help. Unfortunately this experience was so bad, I might not go back yo smother 99. Stay away from this one. One positive, i asked to talk to manager who was helpful. read more

I went to the 99 in fitchburg last night and was beyond disappointed. One of the bartenders was busy working while the one with the long messy hair couldn't even be bothered to clean up after customers, talk to customers who weren't regulars or clean dishes. I asked the other bartender if I could leave her an individual tip and she let me know they split the tips which is just wrong when she did most of the work. Trivia also seemed very rushed towards the end. we will be back but will make sure it's not on a Thursday. We've loved playing trivia however at some point enough is enough with the unprofessionalism with the useless bartender. Fries are not a bed for chicken. Chicken fingers...chicken breasts...they don't have a 9 to 5, they do not have a wife, they do not get tired. They do not need a soft bed, they just need to show up. If you really can't manage, put the chicken in one small container and fries in another. Nobody likes soggy fries. You are not McDonald's. read more

Some of the worst service at the bar. CHRIS the bartender started out well getting our menus and drinks as soon as we sat down but the proceeded to ignore us for the next 30 mins and we waited to put in our order for food. I would like understand if it was busy but with 3 bar tender working is is inexcusable to ignore customer that way. Thankfully Courtney stepped in. My husband and I tried it again. Thinking maybe we can go back for trivia. Have not been in 3 months since the bartender Julia is on. We feel bad for any other bartender who works with her. Number of people have told managers how rude she is and she is still on the bar. Been going for 5 years and never experienced having to wait 10 minutes for her to stop flirting with the same group of guys. While other bartender is busy doing both jobs. Then when she finally comes over rudely asking what we want. Take another 10-15 for drinks. Never gave us a menu's had to get the other bartenders attention. Then Julia took our order came our wrong. Never checked on us to even tell her. Kristi finally was able to make her way to our end and we told her it's not her fault she was doing work of two people. Came here with friends, I don't usually seek out the franchise restaurants,but 99 sticks out from the rest! Their menu is not too big like most franchise spots, but always something for everyone on here. The golden fever wings is my families go to. we love the combination of bbq sauce and honey mustard flavor. I usually get the sirloin tips, which are always cooked perfectly! I never enjoy anything I get from the 99 unless it's boneless buffalo wings. This particular 99 is where I had my first buffalo wing and fell inlove, so I must give it credit for that. Other than that, I don't know what it is... I forget every once in a while and end up at a 99 , only to regret it later. It's never a good choice. This review is based less off the food and more on the service. This Mother's Day we placed a To Go Order online. We wanted to drop off a dinner to my mother in law and my husband wanted dinner for us for the holiday. I placed the the order at 5:20 p.m., knowing it is Mother's Day we expected to wait, but if it was too long we would have tried elsewhere. It would not except my order for 6 or 6:15 p.m., but it did except it for 6:30 p.m., so we figured they must not be too busy and placed our order. We told my MIL to not make dinner, that we were dropping something off for her (as we already could not spend the holiday together). When my husband arrived there was a line of cars (about 45 long) out of the parking lot, down the driveway, and out into the street. As we had paid online to make it quick and contactless at pick up, my husband called asking what to do; should he wait or should he leave. At this point we had all ready paid and if we tried to go elsewhere who knows if we would even get an order in. I told him I would try reaching out to the restaurant directly. NO ONE ANSWERED not matter what number I pressed (1 or 3). I was on hold on both for 25 to 30 minutes a piece). There is also no way to cancel an order online. And I knew if he just drove off we would have been charged and that would have been a whole other fight. We opted to just wait. When, by 7:30, he was only in the driveway, we called my MIL and apologized for what had happened and that we really have NO idea when we would get food so she said to just keep her meal and she would have a sandwich and was heading to bed in an hour or so anyway. My husband FINALLY got a parking spot close to 7:45 pm. Three different people ran out to ask him the order name and no one gave him any answers about the long wait or the orders. Our ticket shows they started working on our order at 7:46 pm, yet he didn't receive the order at the car until 8:50 pm???? We live 10 minutes away (if that) and when he finally walked in the door it was just before 9 pm. We were both starving so opened the containers and they were all cold, like had to be heated up in the microwave they were so cold.Ugh. What a terrible end to what was otherwise a great Mother's Day. Why would the website accept the 6:30 order if it was something the restaurant clearly couldn't handle. It didn't take my other time requests, so we were lead to believe 6:30 worked. We are usually a fan of the 99's food and we have gotten the to go service one other time during this Covid-19 time and were happy. I don't know if this is a corporate issue, a restaurant issue, a poor management issue, etc. All I know is we placed an order at 5:20 pm and sat down to eat a cold meal at 9 pm and my elderly MIL got no meal at all. And by looking at the line of cars there are SEVERAL others who had the same treatment with ZERO resolutions provided. read more

Summary- Chain restaurant has consistency down to a science. It's always the same pretty middle of the road stuff. Food- 3 Stars My Soup and salad were fine, nothing to write home about but also no glaring errors. Service- 4 Stars Super nice waitress was excellent. Drinks- 3 Stars Typical selection of everything. 6 of us went New Year's Eve and we were lucky enough to sit pretty quickly. The waitress was very pleasant, the drink orders were pretty quick but then we come to the food! aw AWFUL! Everything came to the table cold! 2of us ordered steak which was not cooked to order. I had ordered a turkey burger and started to eat it and noticed the roll was kind of soggy but tried it anyways. As I kept eating it at about the third bite and closer to the middle it was still raw! GROSS! We actually had to send everything back except for the one bowl of seafood chowder. We ended up with no dinner that night as by that time it was almost 9 pm. OMG. hands down best salad I have had in probably 10 years. Then to compliment I had a nice glass of Pinot Noir w a side car of wine (also an up charge) and hands down I WILL BE BACK AND ORDER THIS AGAIN. The 99 restaurant is amazingly tasty!!! The food is scrumptious and the service is usually always good. OMG!!!! The rare smothered steak tips (w/mushrooms), has the most tantalizing flavors hitting.... Fireworks go off in mouth as the steak tips hit my palate filling my mouth flavor... It's heavenly... my two sides are -double mashed potatoes, and I get a side of country chicken gravy. My other favorite dish is the country style fried chicken, with double mashed potatoes, and brown gravy on my potatoes and chicken... Mmmmmmm.... Making me soooooo hungry!!! Placed on order for delivery wrong order delivered When I called told I would have to talk to a manager but he was busy would call me back tried to explain my son was a type 1 diabetic who took his insulin and needed to eat was told again the manager would call me back. Called back after 5 minutes told him the same story then told him I wanted my money refunded didn't want another order because how would I know it wasn't the order that got delivered to wrong address and he said we don't do that and I told him how would I know that he said fine he would refund my money and hung up. I've been a 99 consumer for many years and it's generally a great place, but today was disappointing. I was looking forward to the hot buttered "colossal lobster roll" for a summer treat. It was far from colossal. The lobster meat fit the roll -- period. Nothing overflowing or colossal in the least. The hot dog roll was yucky soggy on the bottom. The plate had steam sweat on it. Was it sitting around too long while the other diner's steak was being cooked? If it weren't for past positives, this review on this experience would be a 1. update: I rejected 99's PM request below.
