    Scallops with couscous
    Kim R.

Seated as soon has we arrived. Service was ok. Upon arrival it took a bit for the waitress to come over. Once she did we asked for water we never got. Decided to ask another waitress and she brought us some waters. Server was nice but would have liked her to be a bit for attentive. We eventually got bread and garlic dipping oil. The bread was good. I ordered the scallops pan-seared on a rosemary skewer, over a succotash of couscous. My husband got the Herb-Crusted Haddock served with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I would say the scallops were not the best I've had. Pretty bland the couscous was good just because of the corn mixed in for me the sweetness and crunch saved it tbh. My husband enjoyed his fish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was family friendly. Lots of tables to sit at. They have the bar area right up front to grab a drink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking was easy. Pretty decent size shared with other businesses.

    Sad cheeseburger

Second time ordering a cheeseburger here - the grill is too hot because the outside is burnt and it's undercooked. When you send it back to be cooked they literally char the crap out of it, including the cheese and send it back out and it's expensive!

An option that was not offered to the table.

Went into the establishments at 4:50 with my adult sons and it was before the dinner rush. We were promptly served water and bread. However it took till 5:25 for our drink orders to be taken. I ordered the chicken piccata that was delicious. My sons ordered the bacon pizza and the Cuban. Pizza had very little bacon and it Market basket pizza hot and fresh is better than the pizza that evening. My oldest was just hungry and ate it. Also he ordered a skull drink and the black salt was on the back of the drink where hands were. The drink was all ice, two sips most with a wine floater. Asked for a vodka upgrade on the floater and it couldn't be done. The point of a floater, is to be added on the top of a drink. For $16, it should of had less ice and more of a drink. The waitress said it was pre made. Very disappointing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was clean, however the server was annoyed and she had just started her shift.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tip reflected service. The Nashua establishment is much more proficient in service. First come should be first waited on and not last. Very disappointed. Also, specials and promotions were not even mentioned.

Average Joes is just average like they say. Scallops were boring, scallops on a skewer cooked over a flame and then served with brown rice and broccoli was just okay. Best item is their coconut breaded fried shrimp. Crab cakes were average but tasty enough. Even my ice cream sundae could use better ice cream and hot fudge as it tasted like the ingredients came from the supermarket.

It's quintessencial central Mass. bistro dining, where the waitress is the bartender, the maitre d' is the owner, the empire and mid century china is mismatched but matches the food that is presented on the dishes, and where that food is delicious. Many, but not all, items on the menu are gf, several are vegetarian, and one main and one dessert are vegan. We tried the well-balanced "Red Skies at Night" cocktail and would have it again. We also tried some of the new dishes that are rotating through the menu. The gf seasonal watermelon and feta salad is a particularly savory example of this summer favorite. Crab salad with avocado, hard-boiled egg, and real remoulade sauce, was a nice interpretation (served on a period luncheon plate). The main course artichoke spinach cheesecake was outstanding. Among the desserts, the gf chocolate mousse, which was served in an old-fashioned metal sundae dish and garnished with a fresh violet and real whipped cream, was rich and delicious. We will be back.

We expressed disappointment, but they then checked with the Kitchen staff and said sure if you order right away we would be happy to serve you. We were thrilled! We ordered drinks and had food, and it was all wonderful. We loved the speakeasy, vibe, the custom cocktails, and the impressive and carefully curated alcohol options at the bar. The service was wonderful and friendly. We thought, oh great, this is going to be our go to place in town, we'll be here frequently! Our next visit was completely different. I called ahead of time to check on availability, mention that we prefer to sit at the bar, and confirm that they do not take reservations at the bar, but that there were tables available. So we had it in. When we arrived, we clearly saw at least four open seats at the bar. But we were informed that those seats were reserved. I mentioned that I had just called to confirm that there were seats available and confirmed that bar seats could not be reserved. Well, that was perplexing. And there was no genuine apology, no mention that they might be sorry about the confusion, let us see what we can do... Ultimately, the hostess, did checked with some folks and found that there was a table that we could have. So we sat down for our meal. The service this night was decidedly different, and we couldn't help feeling like we'd forced our way into a private club that we really weren't welcomed at. That was a few months ago, and we haven't been back since.

Our server was Sienna, who was bright and personable, and worked side by side with Chef Ben to make our meal memorable. We started our meal with oysters. Chef gave us his recommendations and they were has delicious as he hyped them up to be. Then we tried the lobster guacamole, which the star of the shows was actually the bacon lardon that's layered in. A must try for anyone who loves this dip. I had the pineapple braised pulled pork tacos. I could barely finish two, yet alone the 3 healthy sized tacos. And my girlfriend was treated to both the crab cake and the specialty salmon cakes. She proclaimed the salmon the winner of that cake battle. For desert, which we didn't finish either, was the berry cobbler. I compared it to an oversized toaster strudel, but homemade and much more flavorful. Overall, we love it here. This is our 2nd trip and we'll be sure to come again soon! Pro Tip: sit at the Oyster Bar, watching the kitchen working is a phenomenal experience. Thank you again to Chef Ben and Sienna! And look, they also have events coming up!!
