We've been to 99 several times and it's usually hit or miss on the food and service. We've encountered friendly mid-30's waitresses who cared and the food was fantastic to 18-19 year old teen boy waiters with massive attitudes, slow service and mediocre food and general lack of caring. The last time we went....which encouraged me to write this review was one of the worst. I had the steak sandwich and it was tougher than shoe leather. It was probably one of the worst meals I've ever had in my life. Although they did credit me for the sandwich with the "We've never had a complaint before" attitude, it was the last straw for us. 99 is NOT bad, just take it for what it is. A Friendly's, Denny's or similar type establishment with a hit or miss meal experience. read more

99 is a east coast thing! Its a chain pretty much on the same level as a friendly's just a better menu! So over thanksgiving me and the girlfriend had met up with a friend here to have lunch on black Friday. To mu surprise it was not that bad at all! When we had walked in it was about 12:00 noon. We put our name on the list and it was only a 20 minute wait...For being a black Friday that didn't sound bad at all! So we only ended up aiting about 15 minutes or so. We got sat pretty quickly! As we sat down we then got our menus and the server came right over to take drink orders and let us look at them menu. We took an extra 5 minutes or so and she didn't rush us at all! After taking our order we then sat back and waited for our food catching up on things! Food took about 20-25 minutes to come out! Again for being as busy as they where it wasn't to bad at all! I ended up getting sirloin tips and chicken tenders combo! The meal came out nice and hot and cooked just as I asked! It also came with fries on the side. The sirloin tips where pretty good. Cooked med well. The chicken are just your avg breaded tenders! Nothing special but still pretty good! We also ordered a honey BBQ chicken wrap. Its just the wrap with a chopped up tender. It tasted good. Pretty much your avg wrap. In the end for 2 of us (one of our friends paid his own check this is with 2 of us.) it set us back around $25.00. Each meal was around $9.99 and it was a fair price. The food portions for the price where also a pretty good size. So all in all the server was great and the food was avg. We will for be going back for sure in future. So far in VT this has been the only 99 that I have liked. Thats saying a lot! Because the one in Willlistion VT is just plain bad. They should be trained by these guys! For 99 its a huge step in the right direction! Very good 3/5! read more

I am not a fan of the 99 chain. I have experienced poor service, poor accommodations, and have not been pleased by the noise when kids start running around. It reminds me too much of Chucky Cheese. This visit started out meeting my expectations as we were left unattended by the door while the staff milled around just out of reach. Rather than leave we went to the bar for dinner. The experience was much better. The staff was pleasant and attentive. the food was as good or better than most mid priced chains, and the prices were reasonable. Looking at past experiences the bars in those restaurants were probably OK as well. read more

The ol' Ninety-Nine chain. For the most part, they are usually pretty good - though no better than any other chain restaurant. Maybe with less flair... This is actually the 2nd time I've been to this one in Rutland and each time I sat at the bar. The same bartender served me each time - he must have worked here for a long time. Very nice guy. So the 3 stars are for the ribs. They sucked, and sucked hard. Meat was overcooked, bad rub, bad sauce. But the beer was cold. read more

Turkey club: Bread was dry. I know, I know, bread IS dry. But this was like it had gone stale. And so little mayo it did not help at all. They had a TON of lettuce to cover for the lack of turkey and bacon. I left half of the sandwich. The fries were soggy. Not a good meal at all. A little over $25 each for burgers and sandwiches. Food not bad. However the waitress lost my credit card had to call the bank before i left to cancel my card. I did let the bank know the restaurant was my last charge so while i made sure to take care of them before canceling my card they failed miserably to take care of me the customer!!!!!!!!!!!!! So watch your wallet and your credit cards when you go there and don't let it leave your site or youll be calling to cancel it and having to call all the companies you do auto pay with! I have been to this particular restaurant many times and have ordered several items many times. Tonight was the worst dining experience I have ever had. First they seated us directly under the air conditioner. We made multiple requests to have it turned down and they never did. Next was our disappointment in the food we ordered. We ordered the lobster roll which we have ordered several times in previous visits. Most noticeable was the fact that the lobster roll was half the size and more expensive $17.99. Do they think patrons won't notice? I could go to McDonald's and get the same thing for $8.99. Bottom line is we should have been moved to a more comfortable location by our server after our second complaint about the cold and the food is of poor quality/quantity for the price. read more

One of the managers were extremely unprofessional and made me and my family feel VERY uncomfortable when he disrespected and raised his voice to an employee. There were many other customers who heard him and another woman said she heard him do the same thing to another waitress when they were dining in. Affordable family dining that can't be beat for the price. We ate at the bar. I had to 12 ounce sirloin. Very tasty. My wife had the salmon, very fresh and she thoroughly enjoyed it. This place has really gone down hill. Last night was the last straw. Wait time was ridiculous! When finally seated after over a 25 minute wait; the booths in many sections were empty. Wait time for dinner is very long for a restaurant that has very few customers. The last few times visiting the Rutland Vermont 99; have been multiple issues. Long wait time for food, wrong food, small portions, waitresses no where to be found, and a couple rude waitresses. With these issues being compounded over each visit; my family will never be back, and have heard the same issues from friends as well. Lack of care is going to force this restaurant location in to closing, if it is not already on it's way out. read more

I ended up here because I could literally walk here from my hotel. Same food as every other 99. What I like about this one over other locations I've been to is the staff. They are super nice and friendly to the customers. So the service was top notch especially in the bar area. They also had some local beer on tap which was nice. read more

Spent the last two nights at this pub while I was in town for business. The food isn't spectacular, but I'm giving 5 stars because the atmosphere is fantastic. We ate here last night on our way in to Mendon. The food and service were fine. The menu and decor reminded me of an Applebee's ornTGI Fridays and screamed "mediocre chain restaurant". A New England regional chain Ninety-Nine offers reasonable prices with full table service. Menu I guess could be described as "comfort" food, with burgers, sandwiches, a couple of pasta dishes, fish and chips, etc. Most items cost less than $10 to $12 or so. Has a full bar area and you may eat at the bar. Better than fast food but not fine dining, kind of like diner food. Service is usually good and is open until about 10 PM most nights which is a plus. Popular with families early in the evening. read more

The food was pretty good. It's definitely worth going, but I don't like being rushed. It was busy Friday night and they were clearly in a hurry for my table. That ruins a happy mood pretty quickly. For a big chain restaurant, they have some great food. The service always seems to be great, the waiters/waitresses are always there to talk and make you feel welcomed. Some of the food was under cooked, but for the most part the food is usually top notch, plus if you have a problem with your food, you usually get a free desert, most places to don't do that, especially chains. read more

My husband I have always liked 99, but last evening will be the last time we will eat there. The hostess and waitress were lovely. We both ordered the same fish and chips with coleslaw. The fish was warm, the french fries soggy and the coleslaw tasteless. The food was always good before the renovation, what happened? One of the better 99 restaurants I have been too, but all are good. Friendly staff that provided great service. We got our food fast even though it was a busy Friday night. I have visited this 99 quite a few times. I like going here because the food is always great and the price is always greasy! However, the last time I went, I was included in a party of 13. We all showed up by 5:30pm, but had to wait and wait and wait and wait. It was OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF before we were finally seated! But.... We came to Rutland on a family ski trip to nearby Killington. Rutland has very, very few restaurant options and we ended up eating here both nights we stayed. I am sure there are other locally owned restaurants, but we could not find them easily. The first night went smoothly. The restaurant was slammed. It was the weekend after Christmas and like I mentioned, there is very little to choose from. Our wait was about 25 minutes and when we were sat our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I will say that the food was not all that memorable, but was good. It is typical chain food...which the kids tend to enjoy more than the grown ups. My steak tips were good, cooked the way I asked and there were plenty for sure. The second night was more disappointing. We knew we were in for the same wait due to the weekend we were there and the lack of competition in the area. The hostess told us 30 minutes. We sat the kids down with their ipods and tablets to keep them busy. 30 minutes came and went and it appeared that we should be called next. We checked and they said it was looking like another 20 minutes. We saw another table of 5 come in and get sat before we did., I assumed maybe this was because they called ahead, but when this happened a second time we got up again to say something. The hostess told is that they are waiting for a table large enough for 5 (2 adults, 3 children). We asked how other families with 3 kids were getting their tables, and they stated that it was because we could not fit in a booth. (shocking...as that is what we sat in the night before). We told her that we have 3 small kids...and she said "no you don't" and then she finally actually looked at us and said "oh". We were quite annoyed by this and were then seated right away. Food came fast that night and again, was unmemorable. No one came to apologize even after we complained about this to the person (who was not the host) that seated us. Next visit to Killington, we will avoid this place all together unfortunately. I really go into all restaurants with high expectations and give the benefit of the doubt much more than my significant other does, but it was clearly obvious that they simply did not care on that second night. I realize they were busy, but my money is just as green as the next guys. read more

Had dinner here after a 7hr drive to go skiing; been to Ninety-nine in other areas before and enjoyed it. This was no exception; really good food, fun atmosphere. But the best part was our server Sarah....if you go there, request her by name. She was attentive without being overbearing, fun and engaging. Just really on point. Nothing fab here. We had the ribs which were dry. The fries that accommodated the ribs were limp. Also, we ordered the Cobb salad. The greens weren't chopped very well at all and the small toppings fell to the bottom of the plate. Overall, the food lacks flavor. Okay so this place is really great to begin with, but I just came here with my girlfriend and she showed me a new drink. Bubble tea. This drink is incredible, it's ice tea and orange juice, and on the bottom there are little balls. You slip one in your mouth and pop it and it's mango juice. This surprised me but it's amazing. I ordered the Tips and Chicken Tenders. The tenders and fries were McDonald's quality. But they were edible. The Tips on the other hand were crunchy, dry and cold. I ordered them medium for a reason. This was not medium. This was beyond well done. However, that does not explain the temperature of the food. I had not eaten since 9AM and it was 8PM. I have eaten many MREs in my life, so I just ate what was there since I was hungry. My guess is my food was reheated in a microwave and done so poorly. It was awful. Truly they are in the 99th percentile of bad cooking. Does ISIS train their cooks to inflict pain on Americans? This is definitely the worst meal I have had this year, possibly this decade. read more
