Having dinner at 99 was a great experience. The staff is courteous, and the ambiance is laid back. Everyone is extremely friendly. I would recommend getting there early or making a reservation if you don't feel like waiting a bit. (It's a popular spot!) The shrimp scampi pasta dish was delicious but be prepared for a LOT of garlic. (I don't mind since I love garlic but I can see how it might seem a bit overwhelming to others). Everyone at my table enjoyed their meals, and I tasted some of the sandwich dip- it was sooo good. Well this has happened more then once. Yesterday we went to the 99 for a late lunch the restaurant was not busy at all. We got seated and just sat there did not get helped or even asked if we need help. We waited 10 minutes and got up and left told the door person that we never got waited on. She never offered to get the manager or anything just said sorry. AT best this restaurant is so-so they need to have great service so they can keep customers. read more

First time visit for dinner. Place was packed but was able to find a seat at the bar. I ordered the food (as pictured) & unfortunately wasn't that impressed. The Seafood stuffies was disappointing-- filled with lots of filling/stuffing & not "Plenty of scallops, shrimp" as the menu described. For my entree, I ordered my salmon cooked 'medium' but was informed that it was "normally cooked that way". Okay... I was pleased to hear this BUT when I received my food the salmon was cooked 'well-done'... Bummer. I did enjoy my drink though-- I had 2 :) Will I return again? Probably not. Another delicious lunch. Wonderful waitress & quick service! We were there for an early lunch as we had an appointment. Thinking that being there for an early lunch, things would be fresh. As usual, we both had to request for new French fries, as the ones served were TERRIBLE (soggy). The waitress was wonderful to obligue and quickly brought us a fresh batch. It was my first stay in Vermont and this location was within walking distance to my hotel. I scouted it out for HappyHour options which ultimately made me decide to come here. They have two HH times...an early bird hour from 3pm-6pm and 8pm to closing with $5 appetizers. I am so glad I went. Dennys used to have these honey glazed chicken kickers and I missed that crispy sweet chicken flavor and guess what, I found them here! It was a HH appetizer special! Yummm!!! I was SO overjoyed. I sat at the bar and enjoyed every single morsel. The service was excellent as well. They had two different TVs on each side of the bar showing two different sports channels. The bartender was fast and attentive, a huge plus, and the place was large with plenty of seating. I was really happy with the late HH times from 8pm to closing because I work late so I would miss the first HH time. I ordered my boneless chicken crispers, which tasted exactly what I wanted, and two large beers. All if it was $19. I thought it was a great price for what I ordered. I highly recommend this place. If I end up back here for work, I'd definitely eat my fill of those chicken crispers. read more

So, my husband and I didn't know this was a chain restaurant, but we came here because it was close to our hotel, and from reviews, it said it was kid friendly. For what it is (essentially an Applebee's type resto), it deserves four stars. The food portions were very generous, drink were cheap and our meal was quite tasty. The booths were large, and our one year old wasn't the only one yelling/laughing loudly. There's not much else to say about this place. If you've been to Applebee's, then you've essentially been here. I don't think I'd necessarily return, as we didn't realize it was a diner type chain, but it hit the spot and was relatively inexpensive. read more

Came here after an outing with some friends. We were a table of 4. All of us ordered regular draft beers. The mugs were huge but the beer was cold. To start I ordered the French onion soup. It was good. Nothing extraordinary about it. For dinner I ordered the salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were decent. The broccoli was slightly cold when it came out. The salmon was good though. Flaky and flavorful. Problem is, I had two bites of my soup before the entree came out. And this was for all four of us. I felt very rushed. Food was good. I love this place. It's always surprisingly good. No matter what I've ordered from the menu. We visit Vermont almost every month to visit friends and I just love this place. My husband is a vegetarian and he always orders the black bean burger and it's always super good, even my teenager eats it! My younger kid gets the spicy chicken sandwich and it's very tasty. I've gotten the Balsamic chicken, the country friend chicken and 3 different salads at one point or another and they were all well seasoned, and fresh and well made. The mashed potatoes are super tasty as a side as well from the "sides" menus. Also, order the cauliflower from the appetizers, they're crunchy and hot and spicy! Finally the service is ALWAYS super friendly, I've never had a bad waiter or a hostess!! Just never disappointed here! read more

This place is great. A bit like one of the competitors as it seems sports themed. You wait to be seated but service comes quick. Food and service are great. They have a huge menu and cheaper options for those on a budget. I chose the fit fair steak option and it was cooked perfectly. It came with fresh greens and asparagus. We visited Rutland from out of state and had never heard of 99 Restaurants before. We checked it out on a yelp and it seemed decent enough so we took the plunge - wish we hadn't! There was absolutely nothing special about this place, from the decor, the drink and food menus, the popcorn they give you when you sit down at a table, the servers, and most definitely not the food. It doesn't seem like Rutland has a great food scene overall, but anything would have been better than here. read more

Great service - they seated us much faster than they said they would, and Robert took great care of us. 2. Well-priced drinks - they were offering $3.99 Margaritas and my wife was ordering Meyers and tonic for $6.99. Hard to beat. 3. Good food fast. I had a steak with spicy sauce and shrimp - excellent. Our son had chicken and sausage baked with Penne pasta - huge and very tasty. My wife's salmon was great, served with not overcooked broccoli. 4. Food was awesome, the service absolutely sucks, waitress did not come back to the table to fill the drinks the entire meal, she threw trash on and took our appetizer away when she brought out the meals without even asking while I was still eating off the dish, my wife said something and she rolled her eyes and treated us like dirtbags the rest of the meal, won't be back Was in contact with 99, management was decent and they apologized for the waitress's actions, said they were replacing the meal and making things right, hopefully won't have to deal with that waitress again, every other time I've been there and other locations it's always been decent and good food read more

When you walk in straightaway there's a person to greet you right there. If you need to wait there's a little waiting spot so you can wait until there's a table available. When you get your food all of your family's food comes out at the same time. when you're eating your food they come and say is everything going okay. and I just feel like this is a really nice restaurant to go to. You should make it one of your go-to is to go out to eat dinner. This restaurant had all types of food. I got a juicy cheeseburger with Fry's. When I took a bite of that juicy burger the juice just exploded just came out of the burger. In the bread was crunchy. it was toasted just right. It was so delicious I could have it every single day. The last thing I have to say is you should really make this your go to restaurant. They have all different types of food. It's kid friendly food. You should really make this your favorite restaurant. When I moved to Rutland, I had to stay at the Hampton Inn for a month. So I became acquainted with 99 Restaurant very well. After the first week, pretty much everyone at the restaurant knew who I was and they were all very kind and friendly to me. Having said that, 99 serves very good food at reasonable prices, and the staff are very efficient. The menus also have calorie count on each food which is good if you are counting your calories. read more

The chicken was tender and moist, very good, the rice pilaf was ok, more than enough for me to take half the dinner home for breakfast this morning.
