So anyway the transmission was acting up (starting from 3rd gear instead of 1st) and I was short on time, which made me make a crucial mistake by taking the car to a nearby shop instead of B & J. Those little jerks at the other shop lied to me and tried to tell me I had to get a new transmission. They said they checked every milk and cranny and that it was 100% my tranny. The only thing is my Moms car shifts as smooth as an angels walking through the gates of heaven. Right away I called B & J (Who was originally my first choice, they were just further away so I didn't have time to pop over there) and B & J said that sounds like the solenoid, which the other shady shop said it is impossible for it to ever be. they said the Elvis would be brought back from the dead, before it was ever the solenoid that was making the transmission start from the wrong gear. Then the other shady shop said we checked your solenoids and they are clean and perfect like they were never used before. You could tell the guy was lying from his mannerisms, long pauses, shaky fingers and side to side eyes. Anyway I snagged my Moms car back and jammed to B&J and what's funny is when I walked in I told another guy who I didn't communicate with yet asked what the problem was and he's like "yeah, man that sounds like a solenoid" so yeah B & J replaced the Solenoid and the car runs like a reborn race car.

I get a call later in the day and he says my transmission is fine but has some recommendations. I took his advice, they changed some valve in my transmission and also greased the driveline. Boom it's like a completely different truck. Alex might quite possibly be the last honest shop in town. Highly recommend!

Colossal waste of time and misrepresentations. Mayfair asks if I'm driving or towing vehicle from Merced. I said Brake Booster Pump Assembly is bad and in Merced in my initial call. Original owner, OEM cat, passed smog, clean title, superior maintenance backed by records. Head gasket fine; no rattle, no steam. Offering free tow and nothing for vehicle was never discussed in your voicemail since we never spoke. I would rather donate to karsforkids.com for tax deduction.

We called and got the "Ohh yeah, we've got it" so we jumped in the truck and picked it up. I thought $650 for a engine that I was promised ran great was an ok price. When we got there it was a 97 Grand Cherokee engine (completely different but I knew we could make it work) then they swore up and down "We heard it run, it runs great. No clanking, ticking, or smoking." I made sure we had some sort of warranty before paying for it, THANKFULLY. Well the next day we gathered up all the need gaskets and things to do a tune-up (My step-dad's a mechanic, I was raised to do this on any used car or motor/engine.) Once we tore into we realized the number 6 cylinder had massive amounts of oil in it, the ENTIRE ENGINE needed to be rebuilt. The water pump and pullies on the front of the engine had also been pushed into the head so the engine would not have been running when the pulled it. We called them the next business day and were told they would not take the engine back if it was not completely back together which meant they didn't want to see what we found. I'm assuming they wanted us to put it completely back together because they are planning on reselling it and didnt want to have to pay their "mechanics" to put it back together. They did take it back and gave me my money back but they made it seem like we were screwing them over. "Make sure everything's on it, make sure it turns over." BOTTOM LINE- They mis-advertised this engine, they lied to me when they said they heard it run and it was fine, they knew they were doing something shady, and there is NO DOUBT in my mind they are going to re-sell that motor saying that it runs fine.

I called…read moreAmerican Imports and talked to Hooshi and he face me brand new OEM parts for toyota for $1,000 total. Wow. I couldn't be happier. He also found some mechanics to do the job for really cheap. Dealer quoted $10,000 to replace all the parts and with Hooshi's help i got it all done less than $1,800 total with labor for OEM PARTS. Hooshi explained to me that toyota get the same exact parts from china and put toyota stamp on it and sell it for 10 times more. If you want someone that really cares for you, check out American imports. I talked to the other gentleman that's behind the counter and he was super nice guy too. Highly recommend this place for most auto parts.
