I was advised to come here by my boyfriend's boss, and after reading the reviews, I thought it sounded very legit and well-priced. I'm not a car expert, so spare me criticism: I went in because my brakes were screeching like crazy, and I was told I needed to change the lower control arm bushing. Mazda in Ontario was telling me all of this would cost me more than $600. I figured Razi would be cheaper, so I called. He gave me a cheaper estimate (and by cheaper, I mean more than half of that). However, upon coming in, they looked at my car, and said the bushing was not a big deal, but that I did need the right front shock switched. My front brakes were at 25% as well...Price? $600. I don't know why I just didn't go back to Mazda (everyone was telling me that the dealership always rips you off), because the prices were the same, and I've always felt better about having the dealership fix my car...I stayed, he filled out the receipt, and told me to come back the day after. I saw that, on the receipt, he put $630, not $600, so when I went back in for my car, I pointed this out. He said that what he tells me and what he writes down can change, because it's extra for labor and whatnot, but because I pointed out that all of that should have been verbally communicated, he would just charge me $600...Um...Okay... I went home, and my brakes weren't properly working, but by this time, he had already closed shop (at 5 pm.) I called my boyfriend, and he advised me to slow down and pump the brakes repeatedly at a stop or red light. This seemed to help considerably. However, my brakes kept screeching for weeks after this, something my boyfriend attributed to Razi not using brake lube when giving me new brakes. All in all, the guy was nice, but I now know that I paid wayyyy too much for what he did, I shouldn't go in for screeching brakes just to get screeching brakes back, and I will just stick to the dealership, because the prices are the same, and I feel a hell of a lot better about my safety and my car. read more

After getting a $3000 estimate from the local dealer, we decided to get another estimate or two. A-1 was recommended to us by friends and I can say without any hesitation it was the absolute right decision. After an inspection we were told that the work the dealer said we needed was unnecessary. What?!?!? $133.56 later we drove away, as you can probably imagine, very happy customers! Our previous mechanic, who we had been using for over 20 years, retired and moved out of the country. Cheapest place I've found in the surrounding area (chino, Eastvale, Ontario, Corona, norco)!! And the service is awesome. they do take a little long but get to save money as a college student you just want to get things done as cheap as you can. I've gotten my brake pads and rotors changed at the lowest quoting ($260) I could find, and an oil change ($40), and serpentine belt changed also($70). This place has become my go to. read more

I have been coming to this place for a long time and never had a problem till now.I felt I had to let other people know to think twice before coming to this place.I brought my daughter's car here because it had stauled on her in traffic .I let them know the issue with the car and that it was very important to get fixed, because it was a safety concern.So they called me and told me it neaded a tune-up and a couple other stuff. I told them to go ahead and do whatever neaded to be done as long as it solved the problem.As soon as we left my daughter called me stating that the car engine light came on.Light wasn't on when we brought the car to shop .Took car back to shop and they diagnosed it for something else and wanted me to pay for it. I am leaving a one star review because I had a simple oil/filter change done here on a Mini Cooperq and I had a leak from the filter area later on. The filter must have been improperly seated/installed. There was white smoke coming from under the hood which was due to the oil dripping from the filter onto the hot engine components. Came here on a Saturday...not very many places in this area are open on Saturday, so I'm thankful this place was. I had to have my brakes replaced both in the front and back. He estimated it would take a couple of hours and it did, so the kids and I walked to the park nearby and ended up walking a couple of miles. :-) When we got back, the owner gave my kids some snacks, which I thought was very kind and the kids were happy, as we waited through lunch time. Took my fully restored 1966 Mustang GT for simple oil change and radiator service on Saturday. When I finally got my car back on Monday 4:30pm , the temperature gauge no longer worked, motor had radiator fluid everywhere in the engine compartment and a cracked on the windshield. Christian who claims to have automobile knowledge is clueless. Worst service garage not sure why people would give such high remarks. Got a transmission replaced took a week and a day to finish when told it would take a couple of days ..tried to charge me 1800$ they never changed the atf trans pan was cracked leaked all over my driveway filter was never changed white substance in the trans pan metal shavings in the pan magnets were filthy so spent 130$ to replace and change this issue ...Jose lied to me last night trying to justify the length of time the car was down tired to called my bluff when I called the police magically they charged 900$ instead ...this morning he lied again saying he witnessed the change of fluids when I offered to send him pictures to prove him wrong he's switched gears ..this place used to be good smh Jose knows nothing about cars or apparently where filters are in a transmission..treats customers like idiots ...this isn't how a business should be handled if the company knew better they would fire the people making them look bad .... read more

I do not recommend this place. I came in for a simple oil change and was told it would take 30-45 minutes. Pretty standard and reasonable for an oil change. After 45 minutes I walked out of the lobby only to see my car still sitting in the same spot. I told the front desk girl and she said they were still waiting on an oil filter to be delivered. When I asked if they had even started she hesitantly said they did and we're just waiting on the filter. I find it incredibly unlikely that an auto shop would start the oil change without the filter and re-park the car where it was, which by the way was not the closest spot. If this was the case they could have easily parked in 5 other spots closer to the shop. Ultimately, I'm convinced they had not started. I'm then told it will take 5 minutes. Guess what it didn't. It took me 1 hour and 30 minutes to get out of there. Look I wouldn't mind as much if they just would have been up front about the timing and owned up that they had not started the car. There are a dozen other auto shops on the street within 1 mile of each other... I'll be going to another next time. read more

I created a Yelp account specifically so I could review this auto shop and share my experience with everyone who, like me, uses Yelp all of the time to find places that are highly rated. My truck has had a simple "lamp out" dashboard light that came on and would make a dinging sound. Normally if you have a light out it will ding once letting you know. My truck, however, kept dinging every time I would put my turn signal on, drive over a rough patch of road, or drive over any sort of bump in the road or parking lots. It made driving really irritating. So I decided to take this quick fix over to a local auto shop. I looked on Yelp, sorted by Highest Rated, and found A 1 Auto was local and had 22 ratings that were all 4-5 stars, with nothing but nice things to say about them. I got to A 1 Auto at 7:45am on a Saturday. They open at 8:00am. I thought that I was fortunate to beat the crowd on a weekend. I explained to the guy that I had a simple lamp out light and it kept dinging as I'd drive it. He told me he would have it ready in a few hours. A few hours??? For THAT? Ok... I had someone pick me up and I went out to breakfast and went shopping. Before we know it, it's 1:30pm and we still haven't heard back from A 1 Auto. I called them up and he said he'd know what was wrong with it within the next hour... so I kept running errands. An hour and 15 minutes go by and I decided to stop by the shop to see what was going on. My truck was still parked in the exact same spot I left it, so it made me think it had been untouched for over 6 hours now. I walked in and stood by the counter until the guy came out. He saw me, looked down, and then started telling me that I had a bad electrical part for the left turn signal and would need to special order the part for $75. The part would take 2 days to get there and, with parts and labor, he could fix it for $135. I explained that I'd need to come back the following weekend because I have a day job. I took my keys and left. Last night I told this story to my dad. He had me Google how to change a turn signal for my truck. We actually had a spare turn signal bulb, and within an hour we had the old bulb out, the new bulb in, the dinging was gone, and the turn signal worked. The problem, literally, was a bad bulb that needed to be replaced. The guy at A 1 Auto never looked at my truck. He lied to my face about looking at my truck. He lied to my face about what was wrong with the truck and was going to charge me $135 for something that my dad was able to fix for free. I strongly encourage anyone who read this review to find a different auto mechanic shop. This shop clearly is not honest to their clients and look to rip you off. read more

This is the only mechanic I trust and go to. I live in San Diego, but I put off getting my car serviced until I'm up here visiting. I started coming because my aunt and all three of my sisters take their cars here. One sister lives in Chino Hills, one lives in Baldwin Park, the other and my aunt live in Irvine. Yet we all make the drive here. Where else can a young girl go, hand her keys off, and say, "The check engine light is on and I don't know what's going on. Please fix it"? I wouldn't trust anyone except for Razi. He's great. I just got my car back from him a week ago and you know what's wrong with it? My "check engine light" connection is faulty, so he didn't charge me a thing. Razi told the guy next to me who was picking up his car that there was a part next to the one he was fixing that also needed to get fixed soon, but it was only $15 and Razi didn't want to bother him so he replaced it for free so that the guy wouldn't have to come back in a couple of months and pay for labor all over again. I've spoken to others who come here because he's the most trustworthy mechanic they know. Razi never overcharges or says we need things done that sound suspicious. He'll give advice on whether something needs replacing right away or is still good for a few months. A basic oil change is $20, totally normal. There is absolutely nothing to do in the area, so bring someone along to give you a ride once you're done dropping off your car. read more

I really hate giving bad ratings to small businesses. But this company does deserve it. I was quoted $1,000 for my Mercedes, parts were $500 and labor $500. I went ahead and ordered the parts online and got them for $140. I had a personal mechanic install it for me for $160. One of the major parts, the lower control arms, that I ordered for $100 which the repair shop quoted for $400 WASN'T EVEN BROKEN! Our mechanic removed them and they were in perfect condition! I figured a person from my country wouldn't try to rip me off, but they did, big time. I replaced a part that I didn't need to and paid money out of pocket because this company wanted to make a quick buck. Please if you go here, get a second opinion! He may come off as gentle and friendly but I get the feeling that it's just one of his ways to counter general suspicion people have against auto repair guys. *edit* Turns out I don't need to pay anything. So, I live in LA, 40-50 miles away and when my check coolant turned on, I called A-1 because I was afraid of driving that long in this heat. Rifah answered my call, my first time here by the way, she was such a pleasure to work with!! I told her what I needed, showed up 7 minutes after we hung up, she had the guys take my car in, inspect it, top off the coolant and while doing so they noticed my tire pressures are off and fixed that too! Razi has serviced my truck several times as it has over 200,000 miles, I take my wife's truck and , my son' car to him when we have problems with the vehicles. We were orginally referred by my wife's friend a few years ago. If you appreciate honesty, and the personal touch of working directly with the owner of the shop, then this is the place for you. It is very common for Razi to walk out to the parking lot and look under the hood of your car briefly and advise you. Onetime I brought in my employee's truck that was miss firing badly because he tried to do a tuneup himself. Razi took 2 min looked at it, rearranged a couple spark plug wires on distributor cap that were out of order, problem solved, it smoothed right out. No charge! He wouldn't even take a tip. Another time I was towed to him right at closing time, they generously waited 10 min for my truck to be lowered off tow truck so they could push iit in the garage so it wouldnt be left outside overnight. Razi is hands on with everything, so sometimes he's not going to be able to pick up the phone the first time you call. A-1 Auto is worth the wait, if you want a fair price, honest service, then this is the shop for you. I reccommend A-1 Auto Expert to anyone who doesn't already have their own personal mechanic, with Razi you feel like you're asking one of your friends to fix your car. read more

I had the most incredibly positive experience as Razi's shop and would recommend him to anyone who wants a friendly, honest, capable auto mechanic. Service: resurface all four brake rotors, replace all brake pads, both front and rear; oil change with oil and air filter replacement. Cost: $291 Time: EXACTLY when he said it would be done. I don't know much about cars except that I like to drive them fast. I do know, however, that auto mechanics get a bad rap for being deceitful and for taking advantage of anyone who is relatively ignorant about car repair. Razi will make you change your mind, and he will guarantee his service. He even said to me, "I don't like to make mistakes, but sometimes they happen. If there is anything wrong with your car when you leave here, please don't keep it to yourself. Tell me so I can fix it." When I told him I found him on Yelp, he said he didn't want to read his reviews because he didn't want to get a big head. Service is great and got taken care even during a busy day. I started bringing my 2 cars for service last year and so far it is working out pretty well. I may bring my 3rd car at some point in the future. It will be nice if there are shops or restaurants nearby for me to hang out while my car is being serviced (wish it is located closer to the Shoppes in Chino Hills). After wasting money by replacing both my battery and temp sensor on my Honda at another place, and my car STILL having the same troubles, I went looking elsewhere..... Being new to the neighborhood I asked my neighbors where they went for auto repairs and BOTH of them recommended A-1 Auto Expert! I came here with my poor little Honda Civic because I had issues with it starting and my temp gauge control had been wrongfully stating my car was overheating while I drove it, even though it technically wasn't. I also came in for a full maintenance. Razi was able to diagnose that my temperature gauge cluster needed to be replaced and that is why the gauge was reading that my car was overheating! Way to waste money at the other place by buying a new sensor when I probably didn't need one. Razi even said he would test my old sensor to see if it was okay to begin with so I can get my money back at the other place - free of charge! As for maintenance repairs... they went ahead and re-surfaced my breaks and my car drives/breaks SO MUCH better now! What a difference! The only downside was they weren't able to figure out why my car doesn't want to start at times. Why the 5 star review you may ask? It's not their fault. They drove it around and stopped it / started it all day and it didn't happen to them... not even once. The computer isn't reading anything so he gave me a few tips to try IF it does happen again. He even told me to give him a call so he could hear what the car sounded like (if it happened again) to give him a better understanding on what to do next. He was very honest and didn't want to waste my money by "guessing" the problem without him actually experiencing the problem to diagnose it better. That says a lot about an auto repair shop. As you can read from my first sentence.. most places rather get your money by doing "guess work" rather than really diagnosing the problem. Honest service, great price, and good auto repair work! What a godsend Razi is! I've always had problems with my car (I guess I can be kinda rough with em' *shrugs*), and have had some bad experiences being ripped off from mechanics. Obviously, I go into panic mode when my "Check Engine" light comes on. A big THANK YOU to my fellow Yelpers! I chose A-1 because of the proximity to my work, and because of all your wonderful reviews. I called A-1, Razi answered, I told him my check engine light was on. He told me to bring it in and he'd check it out and call me with an estimate. Diagnosis = $45. Much better than the $100 the dealer wanted to charge me. I drop off my car, and then sheepishly ask if someone could drive me up the street to my work. Razi is super kind and without hesitation grabbed his keys and dropped me off at work. Wonderful! 3 hours later, I'm told that I just need a new gas cap and a new hose to fix a busted one. Razi charged me $65 for everything. YES! Razi is honest and kind, and I fully trust that he wont take advantage of me. He is truly a relief for people like me who live paycheck to paycheck, with no savings, and would have to take out a payday advance for unexpected emergencies like this one. This was 1 month ago and my car is running perfectly. Great experience, fair prices, honest work. There are some services that most people always wonder whether they're getting ripped off. One of which is a mechanic, this one is universal. I'm not too savvy in car mechanics, so I often times consult with my more knowledgeable friends regarding diagnosis and cost. When I went to Razi a couple of days ago, to drop off my BMW 330i, I was describing the problems to him, and he asked that I keep it for diagnosis and estimate. Mind you, in the past, my BMW maintenance had never cost me anything less than $1000. (if you ever owned a BMW, you'll know that). So my day was spent wondering how much of a hit I'm going to take on my car repairs. It was $833! less than a $1000.. great! so he took the car, and told me that it would be ready the next day. The next day, I went back to him, and first thing he says: " I have some bad news for you" ... With mechanics, I'm not used to jokesters. they're serious, and they rip you off... call me a pessimist, so I thought his bad news was going to be similar. Little did I know, he was in fact joking, and said that he had mistakenly diagnosed a hose that was leaking oil for another (apparently cheaper job to repair), and my bill dipped to $450... yes, $833, to $450. That really completely confirms all the other reviews on Yelp: RAZI IS AN HONEST MECHANIC! he fixed my car, and even diagnosed an issue for me that a previous "unnamed" mechanic stated that they couldn't access the history of my "Check Engine Light". When you first enter, the shop looks modest (at least the office area does), don't let that disappoint you. Razi is a VERY friendly, and honest guy, and will tell you things like they are. If you don't have to spend money on something, he will tell you, and advise you to avoid replacing stuff unnecessarily. Finding a mechanic like A-1 Auto Expert restores my faith in mechanics, and, it goes without saying, he gained him a new customer and 2 new cars :) read more

First time taking my car there today. My electric car had an issue and wasn't charging. I dropped it off, went to grab lunch and recieved a phone call about 3 hours later of the issue. Upon my arrival to pick up my car, I went to the front desk, was handed my car key and was not charged for the service they just did because of a possible recall. The young lady, told me of the issue in great detail and I truly appreciate their service. I will now bring my cars there for service. read more
