So this company comes highly rated on the LA BBB but no reviews here. I sent the info to my neighbor since it clearly says on their website "FREE ESTIMATES!" Uh..no. Turns out this isn't the case, it's free estimates only if it's for a single dwelling. Our small, two story, eight apartment building does not fit into this. They wanted to charge us about $300 and make everyone home for the inspector to visit unit by unit. This is actually our second opinion and the first company didn't need to go see everyone's unit and offered the estimate for free...you know..like they say they do. They might be good...according to the BBB they are...but...don't believe Free Estimates. I'm giving 3 stars since we couldn't use them, a sort of..neutral review but also customer be ware. read more

Yearly contract price is minimal and inspections have always been thorough and any treatment has been included in that price. This year has been a bad year for termites and they have attacked my patio cover. This required extensive replacement of wood in very tight places. I was very worried about my beautiful patio cover being ruined! The work was done by A-1 Bonded carpenters! They were awesome! It looks like brand new! They replaced all boards and filled and painted everything. They also swept and hosed everything down. They even took care not to disturb the baby birds in a nest under my eaves!! On some points with a termite company, you just have to take them at their word that they did certain things and your house has been thoroughly "de-bugged" for a period of time. What I can attest to immediately however is the IMPECCABLE service I received from A-1. From the moment I called them and had them come out to the house I just bought, to a couple of weeks after the completion of fumigating the house when I called with some questions, A-1 has done their best to serve me. Geoff (estimator) gave me a two-hour window for when he'd arrive at my house. He arrived literally 5 minutes after I did with an hour and 55 minutes to spare! We proceeded to walk the inside and outside of the house discussing it and what my wife and I intended to do with some of the areas of the most obvious damage. Geoff had good advice and some I didn't even think of for us to put off some of the major repair bills to the decking and such and save us some money. What a help! Oh and yes, the estimate was FREE! After the whole-house fumigation was done, A-1 put notices on the door and gas meter for The Gas Company so they can come back and turn on the gas. Well, somebody on my end (probably my mother) got a little pro-active and removed the notices before The Gas Company had had a chance to come out and turn the gas on. I called A-1 on a Saturday asking them if they could email me the notice so that I could re-tape it to the house and meter since The Gas Company was coming out first thing Monday morning. Though their office was closed, I received an almost immediate call back from A-1 and they emailed the notice out to me very promptly. Even after my computer had issues opening the file, we stayed in contact and got resolved by them faxing it to me. A-1 didn't just do their job. We were forced to go through the termite tenting process because of our HOA, so I guess you can consider me a hostile witness. We didn't receive initial email communications about the schedule and had no idea it was happening until a gentleman showed up on our doorstep to give us the bags we needed for our food and medications. Once that happened, I called their office to find out what the actual date of tenting would be and they told me March 19 and added my email address to further communications. Then, i later found in the email schedule--after booking our hotel room--that the actual date of our tenting was March 12. Ok, great... like there isn't enough to stress about with this whole process to begin with... managed to rearranged the reservation just fine. All their other email communication talks about how careful they will be with your stuff but they broke a birdfeeder in our backyard that my children had given me for Mother's Day and tromped all over our succulents in the backyard. When they come back to take the tent off they just go through your house tracking dirt everywhere. The gas smell takes hours to dissipate when you get back. The whole process is such a huge headache. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. read more
