In addition last time for an older mechanism at their shop they were able to free a frozen part so I have a backup part for an obsolete Weiserlock handleset, nice they had the latch in stock. Came in with an old 80's bmw door lock that I needed to have rekeyed to my existing key. I had already tried calling several local locksmiths and they didn't even have a clue what I was talking about. About 45 minutes and $35 later came out with exactly what I wanted. I brought my Range Rover key into be duplicated. At first the new key would not work and in the process Mark took my remote apart and broke the spring mechanism. After fumbling with it for an hour, he hands it back to me and says "This is the best I can get it to work. I have another buy who can look at it if you bring it back later." I told him that he broke the plastic tab that hold the spring and the case would have to be replaced. He suggested that I call the company I bought it from and tell them it did not work. I told him that would be a lie since it was working when I brought to him. He just shrugged and told me I can bring it back later for someone else to look at. Will never go back. Update, 9/28/13, the remote has not been working properly only unlocking the car and having to lock using the key. Today, I go to unlock the car and nothing so I go to use the key to open and the whole case comes apart with the internal electronics falling all over the parking lot. Will be calling the dealer on Monday to find out what can be done. Also, he cut two other keys for me at the same time (house and mailbox), the house key works but the mailbox key does not work..... Update, 10/04/13,the remote must be replaced and since they are coded to the VIN the dealer is the only option and the replacement is $250. I sent a letter to A-1, to Mark Lyons' attention, asking to be reimbursed for the replacement. Will update once I receive his response or lack of response. Update, 10/10/13, no response to my letter. I am assuming he will ignore the letter and believe that I will just go away. Update, 11/05/13, no response. Not even a simple phone call to discuss. Will be filling small claims action. read more

This is the most unreliable and unprofessional establishment I have ever been to. Lily is rude and lacks customer service skills. Made appointment to get work done and when I showed up she had to cancel. She was on the phone using bad language while telling me to comeback when I had left work earlier to be there on time. Then she called me to begin the process all over again blaming her coworkers for the misunderstanding . Went back again only to be told the parts that were order did not work and had to order more parts. Bad way to conduct business . Save yourself a headache and choose someone else. read more

My Lexus key fob broke so I bought two online and needed them laser cut. They did an amazing job and it was way cheaper than buying a new one from the dealership. It was also super quick...in and out within 20 minutes. He even reminded me to check the keys in my car before I left. Went in to get a valet key cut for going to the beach and putting it in my wetsuit. VW decided to do away with them as an included item, so they can charge you a fortune for a chipped unit after the fact. I had no need for the chipped version, just one to lock and unlock the door. They were able to get me exactly what I needed at a very reasonable price. They worked on it a few times to make sure it was just right. The service was excellent, too. I purchased two blanks because I wanted the the keys to match my car. I went to four locksmiths in town and they all refused to make the keys because of the material of the blanks. I called Tom and he said sure bring them in. I did and he not only made the keys but personally went out in the rain to test and make sure they worked. I started going here to get Porsche key blades cut and over the years I have learned nobody has more experience or better equipment and a better inventory of keys than this place does. And they are always friendly and quick. The prices are definitely competitive and if you are looking to do a really cheap job with some bargain key for a car then you really should talk to them first instead of making a mistake on the wrong blanks or really cheap stock that will not fit or break. Sounds like a shill? Nah, it's 'been there and done that' so I just threw away three mercedes blanks that I bought on ebay that were the wrong ones. Anyway ask Mark about his TV show appearances as a handcuff expert! lol or get him to tell you stories about crazy customers. He has lots of funny stories. This place is amazing! The owner, Mark, saved me over $300 to fix the ignition lock on my truck as I had been quoted almost $400 to replace the ignition lock in my car by the auto mechanic. A friend who uses A1 for locksmith services suggested I call because he has always had great service from these guys. He was right! 1st, I had my car towed there and I dealt with the owner Mark over the phone and never having met him, I was able to trust him and his staff with my vehicle over the weekend. 2nd) He did the work for the price he quoted me ($125) and made me 3 extra keys at no charge. Additionally, his employee or perhaps manager, I'm not really sure what position he holds with the store, because he acted so professionally, like a manager, Robert, really helped me with all my questions and even discouraged me from buying some items at the store because he said they wouldn't meet my needs. I was SUPER impressed by his honesty and the professionalism of Mark and his staff. I will always go there for any of my locksmith needs, I will also mention, it is a really neat store front with lots of locks, safes and gadgets to look at while you wait. These guys were great! We were locked out of our house and my parents had a spare key, but that was a two hour drive up north, each way. Thankfully Mark and the team were able to come through and make a new key based on the serial number of the duplicate. Lost the last remote key to my Honda Accord. Only had the valet key left. Called the Honda dealer and found out my older Honda required "chip" keys. Called A-1 and they told me to drive right over. Mark, the owner, assisted me personally. He made me a new key, programmed the chip in it, and then reprogrammed the computer in my car. (I had no idea this had to be done as part of the process). Mark had all this done for me in less than 20 minutes, and charged me HALF of what the dealership would have. Come to find out he's been re-keying cars for over 35 years. Put this on your list to stay away from. Had a simple key made, brought it back told the guy in the shop and ask for a refund. He could not figure out the machine. Had to come back at 3 when the boss mark was in. Told mark key did not work . I told him went to the dealer and they said the tip broke off and u cant match it up. Told that to mark and his response was i thought so! then when asked for refund he claimed he never said that and he wanted to try again. He should never have made the key. Lee locksmith declined to make the key. I just wanted my money back for a job he should have never tried. Stay away. read more

Very positive experience with Mark and his staff. When you call A-1, you speak directly with the owner. He's been in the lock business for decades, and he's honest. He delivers the service, at the price quoted, and on time. As a matter of fact, his technician called me half an hour prior to the quoted time to say work was complete. Needed a replacement key for my Honda and after making the mistake of calling a "towing and locksmith" company in the area first, waiting over two hours, only to have no locksmith show and no call from the other company, it was a pleasure- and an extremely opposite experience- to do business with A-1.
