Wonderful location, staff and service. This was y first experience with self storage and the team made it so easy. I was texting from the website and they texted back promptly and stayed in touch. When I was ready to visit they remembered me and took me on a tour of the available units. They were so helpful and friendly it made renting quick and easy. I would highly recommend them if you've got extra stuff to store. I switched from a POD which was costing me about $225 a month, I downsized a bit and was able to drop the cost to about $100 a month. I paid for a year in advance so that they won't increase the rent for a year. I will update in the future as they advised that the rates could increase by an average of 5 percent every 6 months. They said that was standard for the industry, which I didn't know but wanted to share for the newbies like me. read more

We used A-1 Self Storage while we were in between moving from house to house. I give them a 4 star rating because of the ease of getting started with opening up a storage unit. I have never rented a unit before and the front desk really took the time to walk me through the process while answering all of my questions! What I particularly appreciated about their customer service was their readiness to both present and answer commonly asked questions like, "what if I lose my code?" This review is overdue. I had to get a self storage unit a few years ago and had a great experience with a different A-1 location so they were my first choice. The facility is clean (the units are not temperature controlled but there is some sort of ventilation/fan system I believe to keep it from getting too hot) and appears secure. The set-up is similar to the other location and very straightforward. Lela helped assign/process my unit and check out the facility; they were great. This goes without saying, but moving is super stressful. My husband and I lived in our condo for over 8 years in Culver City and are somewhat unfamiliar with the logistics of going from point A to B. We needed a storage unit in between buying and selling our property and opted with A-1 Self Storage because of its proximity to our new home and, more importantly, the stellar reviews on Yelp. The reviews did not disappoint! Stephanie and her manager were extremely helpful and accommodating when we couldn't get to the office in time before closing to get our unit number, lock, gate code, etc. They were able to handle everything quickly over email and helped prevent what would've been a disastrous and stressful moving situation! She really helped me determine the best solution to meet my needs and was attentive the entire time I've had my unit. That comes across as less pushy and more genuine, even if it is a business. Thank you Sarah! *Clean, well maintained units and premises (but definitely keep anything of real value in secure containers/bags as there are mice and insects that drop by once in a blue moon) *Competitive pricing! *First month move in special... Cons: (Yes, you can still give a five star review and have cons) *About that move in special...it definitely hooks you in, but you'll somehow pay back the first month discount and then some because... *...rate increases! Yes, this happens unexpectedly due to business/cost reasons. A friend of my gave me the heads up on this one though that if you have a unit long enough here, your rates steadily go up. *They "require you" to pay for $10/month insurance on your unit if you don't already have insurance so remember to add that to the cost of your unit But in the end, extra storage like this is akin to paying interest on merchandise you already own. Question is, how important is your (storage) stuff? Would I recommend to a friend? If you need a storage solution, yes! Just read the pros and cons. Would I use A-1 Storage (again)? Yes! I've used this place twice now and I definitely appreciate their customer service. They were able to accommodate my need to access a unit quickly and during late hours. Although, I didn't get confirmation that I could come back after hours the next night, the alarm didn't go off which meant they had received my message of me needing to access my unit late that night. The staff here has always been nice & the premises are always kept clean. I've always felt my belongings to be safe here as the location is well monitored 24hrs. The team here is so friendly and helpful. Originally we'd booked a 10x10 unit, and Stephanie was so kind and knowledgeable throughout the whole tour process. No matter how tired and worn-out you are, he gets you through the process quickly, without missing a beat! If you interrupt, which I did (I'm sorry Todd) several times, he gets right back on track without skipping a step. He walks you to the entrance and makes sure you don't have any issue getting in. He then escorts you to the unit and opens the door, he's a true gentleman. Todd buzzes around often, adding to he already secure feeling. A really nice gal walks around with a broom and dustpan (please pick up after yourself and make her job doable:). I've been a few times and haven't had any issues.
