Clean, secure, quiet, and great customer service. Nothing more you could ask for! I looked around the area for a good storage facility ahead of our upcoming move, and after making some calls and reviewing some places on Yelp, I decided on A-1 Self Storage. Their phone system takes you to a centralized call center, which is odd but in the end was not a problem. They quoted some prices and told me the local site would reach out to finalize the details. Steve called soon afterwards and confirmed the details I got from the call center. So far, everything was going smoothly, and thankfully it only continued to be smooth sailing! At the site, Steve greeted me and got me signed in. He's very friendly and has great customer service, offering me a seat and some water as we filled out the paperwork. BTW, paperwork for a storage unit is pretty lengthy, just FYI. But Steve made the process very easy from start to finish. He then showed me to my specific unit, which was great. He showed me how to use the hydraulic lift since my unit was on the second floor. Certainly no one enjoys moving their stuff all over town, back and forth between your old house, your new house, and a storage unit. But, when you gotta do it, you want to make sure the process at the storage facility isn't going to make things more difficult for you. Not only did Steve at A-1 Storage not make things difficult for me, he made things better than I expected. Will definitely use them again if/when I need local storage needs. read more

Our family has been a customer of this facility since 2007. The grounds are safe and clean and the staff exceptional- many thanks to Dave, Traci and Jim for helping to keep not just our belongings organized, but our sanity while we keep up with our crazy life! Customer service is important to us and these guys will go the distance it takes to satisfy your requirements. Storage is expensive, while the prices and practices are competitive, they are on the higher end of things (-1*). In May 2014 my friend needed a small storage space , month to month.. searched the web and found an amazing deal with A-1 Storage. We got the first month free and the monthly rent was 50% lower than the market price. I'm embarrassed to actually talk about the rent. What I noticed most, was the friendly customer service. Billy is quick efficient, and has an adorable New York accent that he's not aware of. He offered me a refreshment, and sat me down to complete a simple set of paperwork. When choosing the unit, he picked one close , I think its attached to the main building, close the the entrance doorway. The lady behind that desk at Oceanside A-1 was very efficient at getting my storage space set up. Keys in pocket and lock on door in under 20 minutes. And,days later,when the movers had things in the truck and my first space was full,she found another unit right away. I barely had time to start worrying. If could have given no starts I would. Me and my husband went by because my husband forgot the key inside. And I kept getting Letters saying they will charge us $180. We went to talk to the manager to get our key back and to cancel our contract. They told us they had already sold the contract and that there was no paperwork of my contract. She scream at me and my husband saying we were being rude when all the time I was asking for a letter saying that I was done with my contract and that in any case I get charged next month I could come back and tell them. She said we were being disrespectful and told my husband to shut up and that we had no rights because none of my information was on the system yet I keep getting this letters saying they will charger me. Truth...if you need an A plus experience...I would suggest A-1 Storage. Moving will always be stressful but Tracy and Manager Cheryl helped us to create a smooth and easy move. I've been dreading finding a place to store my truck for months. I've been calling around trying to find out more information and I didn't feel comfortable storing my vehicle anywhere. I would highly recommend this business!I went there to ask a question and received even more important information. Billy let me know that they had recently gotten a lot of units rented (due to deployments), so he suggested for me to call back in 3-4 days (when I needed a unit), to check for availability. I did, and spoke w/ Corinna. With her kind assistance, I was able to reserve my space. A couple of days later, I went to the office and signed up, with Steve. I haven't had a chance with using the facility but I do have to say I didn't appriciate Billy just hanging up on me after I asked if it was them that had a deployment special. He did say they offer military 5% discount, I said politly alright thank you (im calling other places as well to see which fit is best for us) and he just hangs up. ***Update: I dropped my rating from five stars to one because I haven't even been using A-1 Storage for a full year and they already raised my rent by $15. In-store rep advised me that A-1 is "rent raise happy" and will probably raise my rent $15 every year. Of course, they leave that detail out when you're renting initially probably realizing that most people don't want to deal with the hassle of moving their stuff once their settled in. You've been warned. Original Post: I'm six months into my storage lease and have had a great experience! While still shopping around for a storage facility, I stopped off at A-1 where I was greeted by Steve who showed me around and explained how everything works (cost, hours, etc.) I declined the first two storage units he showed me and after explaining why they wouldn't work for me --Steve showed me the storage unit I have now. I didn't need the storage unit right away so, Steve put a hold on the unit for a couple weeks --which was pretty awesome. When I came back to sign the paperwork, I met with Billy. He made the process painless; I signed my paperwork, set-up auto pay, and purchased a lock. A few days later, I stopped by to ask questions about my paperwork/billing and Billy patiently went through everything with me again. More recently, A-1 has installed new doors on the units that are really easy to open. The property is pretty clean. All the guys are helpful. I strongly recommended this A-1 Storage. read more

Staff at this A-1 Storage are great. I looked into another A-1 in the area, and chose this location because Billy and Steve were so helpful and courteous (which goes to show you that the people on the ground are more important than the name on the sign out front). I would have given five stars except that the area can be a little shady. It is Oceanside after all and the highway and the Sprinter station are within a short walk - if you know anything about the area, you know that there are vagrants who have been hit by hard times and have taken to living along the Oceanside Blvd corridor. Sad but true. That being said, the facility seems secure, and in the year that I was there, I didn't have any problems. The facility is on a frontage road, so you have to navigate a series of weird lights and the Sprinter train - small price I suppose considering that it is right off the 5. I teased Billy about all the great reviews he gets on here but I do understand why. He was very friendly and helpful. Also Tracy from A1 on El Camino and oceanside Blvd was very friendly and helpful. (FYI the one with Billy further down oceanside Blvd is cheaper. That's where I decided to rent.) This company knows how to hire lol. The units are clean and the size should be perfect. And they are open on Sundays if you need help with anything. I like that. read more
