Hmmmm! The advertised $19.95 rate is a little misleading my total ended up being $77.95 for about 30 miles and no insurance policy, plus an extra $13.00 for gas. That said, for a small haul/move, the overall cost was still absolutely worth it! The entire process was simple, I completed everything online and just picked up the keys in person no hassle at all. I've used this location several times and never had any issues. The customer service is friendly and professional, which makes the whole experience even smoother. Needed a moving van last min. This location does a large volume, so that's a win. I reserved the van online and went in at the designated time. The guys seemed nice enough at the counter. Young man that helped me name was Thai. He pulled the van over to the exit, which is narrow so time is key and handed me the key. I remember a move years ago, where I packed a broom so as to clean out the van when I was done. When I hopped in, the inside was really disgusting and I'm not a prima-donna but the console where you'd put your phone or keys, floating with water. Leaves and dirt everywhere along with some kind of dog hair. The back was equally dirty. He also told me that I had half a tank, I didn't. It was under the half tank indicator, so there was an immediate over charge or round up? There was a long line of people waiting and 2-3 guys managing the front desk. The takeaway was if you don't mind a gross rental..which if you're stuck for time or need, you many not, then this place will suffice but if you do mind sitting in a Petri dish, you may want to go elsewhere. TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY... Struggled to give two stars here. I've called 5X during the week, left a message with their national answering service (that gal was great), and ultimately had to get in my car, and drive 16 minutes each way to find two guys in the shop on a Saturday morning at 11:00a... seemingly waiting for customers to walk in the door. Their phone system is forwarded to the national call center, though that's supposed to be when they are busy. I inquired about that and Kyle (name on quote; the guy never told me his name and wasn't wearing a name badge) shrugged... as if to tell me "oh well." Customer service isn't expected to be high-end at U-Haul, I suppose, so they hire whoever. I chose to take a quote and check out another local shop and online opportunities for my tow hitch. A true waste of energy and time. It would have been great to have the quote over the phone, since they don't have my hitch in stock and can't get to my job for two weeks. I'd recommend checking elsewhere first. read more

The worst customer service ever. They were so rude multiple times and for multiple reservations. We showed up to pick up each reservation on time. The employees were so bitter and disgruntled. Every interaction was a hassle. Everything was prepaid with a reservation number. The amount of delays and rudeness was shocking. After this move is over I am done with U-Haul. Hopefully it is only this location with such poor customer service and communication skills. I would avoid this location if you want prompt assistance. read more

I've been in many U-Haul locations over many years in several states and have never written a review. But this time I met Bobby. This was our 3rd time at this location. The first two nearly got poor reviews but this time, Bobby helped us (might be Bobbie..) and he was great! It's hit or miss. If Dylan is there to do the install it all works well. If he's not, manager does not bother to call those with reservations to cancel. Double check everything you do with the and make sure to call before you go, as the management cannot be trusted to treat customers well. After purchasing some moving boxes I locked my keys in the trunk of my car. Being a slow morning Ty offered to drive me to my home to retrieve my spare key. Check in was easy - staff on site were great. The truck was clean and ran well - however the driver side visor was broken and continually lowered while i was driving. Not horrible, but not great. I had to go to this location to get the size truck I needed. The estimate was for about $75 with the mileage I was planning to put on it. When I returned it, I went to the gas station across the street to fill it up to the level I received it with. They didn't send me a receipt right away and when I saw my CC charge it was for $129 because they charged me for 6 gallons of gas. Poorly managed, employees are not trains at all. I called 4 times and only got the National call center. They called direct on the "hotline" to get someone in the store. They assured me someone would call me back. I knew they would not. 5 hours later I drove down to purchase a 2"x 12" hitch extension. The person could not figure to to ring it up and kept calling it a hitch, again no training. MANAGEMENT- if you want to grow your business two works of advise- 1. Answer the phone 2. Train your employees I suggest people use a different location with better reviews, save yourself the total frustration. read more

I have consistently gotten the absolute i've ever gotten in my life from any company. I have spent thousands of dollars with this Uhaul store in the last six months. I went yesterday to get some dish packs for packing. I'd called, and they said they had them. I arrived, and then didn't have them. I asked the woman helping me if she could call another location to see if they have them. She said "No, you can call them". When I asked to talk to a manager, she said, "I am the manager". Went there today. The line was out the door. One person working. Stood there for 15 minutes, no help. Then one guy working the counter left while all of us were standing there. This is review is for uhaul in San Diego, not just this location. This experience couldn't have been worse. I requested a 15' truck pick up at this location which is convenient to my home. U-Haul called me the night before to inform me that, not only did they give me the wrong truck, but that I could pick the truck up 40 miles from where I requested it. This caused a delay in our tight packing schedule because of the time required to travel to the location and pick up the truck. Then I was further delayed because they forced the mobile pick up option upon me when I had requested in-person. The app did not have the option to pick up the truck, so I spent an additional hour on the phone with customer service getting passed around. I don't know why they offer options when in reality you have none. Do not rent from this service. read more

In Feb 2020 I rented a van from them which required me to cross tolls on my trip. I returned the van, drove home, and forgot that I had left the cell holder that attaches to the window. I drove back in a matter of 15 minutes. The guy that I left the van with checked and said it was not there. Really? I feel like he was the only one who could have taken it, and it was my friends that I had borrowed. I knew that it was still on the window because it was really hard for me to remove and I know that I would have had to ask for assistance getting it removed. Back to the Toll Roads. When I returned the van I asked about how the tolls will be paid and I was told that the bill will go to them, and they will pay it with the credit card I have on file. Sounded fine with me. Well, 7 months later I receive a $200 bill from the Toll Roads. I called them to inquire and they said that I had received the bill because Uhaul declined to pay it. Luckily they believed I had no idea about this and they reduced my bill to $45 as long as I paid it in 15 days. I called Uhaul and the hold times were over an hour so I ended up paying it myself. Since August I have been getting the runaround, and have spoken to at least 7 different people before even being transferred to an actual Tolls Dept within Uhaul. Why was I not transferred there first? In the end they were able to show me that they received 2 toll bills and paid them but they could not explain why I still had to pay $45. In my experience, Uhaul is not a smooth-running business, they do not know how to assist customers right the first time, they provide wrong information all while the customer is on long hold times only to end up speaking to the wrong person! I will be sure NOT to use them ever again! They only got 1 star because I needed to pick one in order to post this review, but really they do not deserve ANY stars. VERY incompetent! read more

Never fails the level of disrespect. I am usually not one to make a big deal however... I do use this store location quite frequently and feel now is the time to speak up. Not one time I go in and the Manager (Dylan Earls) is polite. He is condescending and EXTEMELY RUDE. Today my puppy managed to follow me inside the U-Haul building, and relieve himself on a box. Mr. Earls screamed and decided to charge me $30. I understand this was unprofessional on my end, however the way the Dylan decided to handle the situation was too much this time. Alicia the manager needs training in proper customer service. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had with uhaul. The manager was extremely rude. I called to see if I could change my reservation, so I could drop it off at another U-Haul location. The person I was on the phone with Max, was very helpful and polite. however I could hear Alicia yelling in the background " don't do it" and " I will make sure he gets charged" in what seemed to be a threatening manner. Not to mention they refused to give me the exact amount I would be charged if I left the trailer at another location. One month later I did not hear anything from them. I went here to get a toe-hitch installed on my SUV. Super easy install but had them do it because I am Not sure how to install the wiring. I've been towing my trailer a lot lately and noticed that I didn't get the wiring I paid for, which was a 7 way which is what I NEED for the wiring to work with my trailer. Instead, I only received a 4-way wiring, so I've been driving my trailer in unsafe conditions. I went back to U-haul 2 weeks ago and the guy that did my install was no longer there and the new guy they had working there didn't know much of anything. He wasn't helpful and told me he couldn't do anything to help my previous install. It honestly sounded like he had no knowledge or didn't want to help me. I asked for a Manager to call me, but never received a call. I paid for a warranty and I expect to receive services that I paid for. I called yesterday to talk to a manager they sent me to scheduling and now I have an appointment in the Escondido location next week. Hopefully they can fix my problem so I can tow a safe trailer. read more
