Purchased an apartment at Midtown Ave. Previous owners used A Advantage. We decided to continue their service. They provided us the same fee and did not raise it as new customers. They came out for the annual check for winter coming up. No fee as it is part of the service. Service person was very friendly and informative. Came out a second time a week later when I couldn't figure out why the heater wasn't working. Well the building runs on hot water for heating, and two levers had to be switched on to allow the pipes that service the heater to function. They didn't charge me for the 2nd appointment. And the building actually sent a message to owners the same day. Go figure. I appreciated their assistance. Highly recommend the company. When calling they are responsive and kind. I cannot say enough about having A-Advantage Heating and Air Conditioning as my company of choice! I have a 3-Zone home and A-Advantage has serviced my units since 1991. I had to have all three of my units replaced because they wore out (primarily due to aging of the furnace fire box) and additionally the A/C portion was using FREON (R-22) which dated them as well! All units have been replaced and maintained through bi-annual maintenance checks. The warranty portion of the installation contract has been honored quickly and without question; I might add the repair issues were minor and related to a fan motor and circuit board replacements. Love these guys; they treat me like family! and one more small thing - for service call response they usually provide a three hour window but 80-90% of the time the techs are there in the first hour! And I never had to make a call back! Their prices are fair; their techs are knowledgeable and competent. and they will not look for reasons to up-charge your call unless it really is needed. This company was hired to perform a routine service in mid-March. Just over 4 months later, we found our living room flooded because the condensation pipe had clogged causing over $8,000 in damage. Cleaning the condensation drain is one of the major points of a service and a pipe does not clog up in just 4 months. It was obviously NOT done. Also, beware: when they supposedly complete the work, the tech will push an invoice in front of you and ask you to sign, telling you that you are signing it stating that the work has been completed. READ THE FINE PRINT above the signature line as it states that they are NOT responsible for ANY damage that may occur because of what they did or did not do. DO NOT SIGN IT! Signing this relieves them of any responsibility for any damage resulting from their negligence. read more

I can't speak to their heating/cooling services but they do service Generac generators but not well. Our generator was not working and they came out and said the controller was bad and needed to be replaced and provided a quote of well over $1,000 to replace it (I want to say it was about $1,300, actually), in addition to the $175 trip charge. I called our normal generator service company who had previously been unavailable to come out and they said that same part is only about $500.00 from them. When our normal service company came out, they said the controller was actually JUST FINE but it was dirty inside and needed to be cleaned out with compressed air, nothing more. Apparently ants had gotten inside. Once they blew out the debris, the controller didn't need to be replaced at all. A Advantage either doesn't know how to properly service Generac generators, or wanted to take the shortcut and not try and actually fix the problem the right way, just the easy way. This is also after they rescheduled us to deal with other customers on a hot day, which I completely understand, however I went with them because of when they could come out since we were going out of town. After their delay, I might as well have gone with our normal service provider anyway, it would have saved me $175 diagnostic and over a week of delays. read more

Knowledgable! Friendly! HONEST! I had the fortune of contacting A Advantage Heating this morning to check my condos HVAC. A few hours later John, Service Manager, showed up. Once he looked at my system he began to explain what system I had. Turns out I have a heat pump in my unit that continues to run smoothly. When asked for the main unit, I told him the central unit was in the roof of the building. At that point he told me he couldn't charge me for half the work. It wouldn't feel right! I respect and, most importantly, appreciate John's honesty. I wish there were more honest service companies out there! The last company I hired to check my "HVAC" was happy to charge me full price! AAdvantage is dishonest. I don't like calling people liars, but they lied to me. We had them replace a humidifier in our third floor furnace room earlier this year, in February. A few weeks ago, in mid July, we noticed a drip/leak coming from a ceiling light in our second floor bedroom. We then went upstairs and found that there was a leak near the furnace, which we assumed was coming from the humidifier. We then got Aadvantage on the phone late on a Friday evening and asked them whether they would advise us turning off the water valve which supplies water to the humidifier. They said "No" and that there was no need to turn off the water valve. They came the next day (Saturday) and found out that a part went bad inside the humidifier which resulted in the leak. The part going bad is not their fault, but they should have told us to turn off the water valve to prevent additional water damage. There are several stains on the ceiling now in that bedroom and the adjacent closet has significant water damage, with a section of the drywall likely in need of replacement. We asked Aadvantage whether they would cover the repair costs. They said "No" because the part had gone bad. When we confronted them and said that we had asked whether we should turn off the water valve on Friday night, they denied telling us that there was "no need to turn it off" and their manager, John, said, "I told you to go ahead and turn everything off." He NEVER said such a thing. We would have gladly turned it off if we thought it would have prevented additional water damage, but Aadvantage was convinced turning off the water valve would not have prevented additional leakage. Shame on them. read more

Good customer service. I just called to ask how much it would cost to install a new fan coil two-pipe thermostat in my condo unit and the technician was very honest and gave me a very good idea of the cost range. He even suggested that, sometimes, the maintenance people in the buildings can do it for less. I told him that I did contact maintenance in my building and they said that a contractor would charge 580 dollars to install it and that they could do it for 150 instead. The technician said that it depends on the thermostat and it could indeed cost up to 580 dollars and that the price from the maintenance people was a good deal. Now, that is honesty and good customer service. I will check with my maintenance peeps but because of this good customer service I think I would trust them more if I decided to pay a little more and use the professionals. read more

I have used them a few times in the past for my HVAC. I have to say that they are very professional (they address me as "Mr. so and so" and don't call me by my first name like so many other moronic businesses out there). They show up on time, they are knowledgeable and their prices are reasonable. They might charge a little bit more up front for a service call than some others, but they never try to gouge you on the parts and labor like some others have tried to do. My only complaint with them stems from their persistent calling about service packages and seasonal inspections. For a while there they kept calling and trying to sell me on additional services. Each time I said no thank you and asked them to stop calling. By the fifth time it got old and I filed a complaint. Eventually they got the message and stopped with the calls, but it was aggravating. Otherwise they would earn five stars for quality of service and pricing. read more

My furnace fan would not come on. Yes they responded in a reasonable time. However, they charged $110 for a diagnostic test. The young man who came, not only "reeked of alcohol" he did not even put on shoe covers and walked on my brand new carpet. When asked if his shoes were clean, without looking he responded yes! NO ONE has worn shoes on this carpet and could have cared less or respect my property. Even the cable companies know enough to wear shoe covers. Once the diagnostic test was done, he called his supervisor. I was told they could get the part but it would be about an hour. Not a problem, I was still under warranty. After "SEVERAL PHONE CALLS" and missing a whole day of work he showed up 4 1/2 hours later! He also did not wear SHOE COVERS and walked right onto the carpet. It took less than 10 minutes to repair and charged me ANOTHER $175.00 with NO CREDIT from the $110 which I paid earlier. I expressed my dismay and was told no one would give me credit for the early visit. I called around an other HVAC companies told me that their charge would have been ONLY the $175.00. I proceeded to call their office and received NO COMPENSATION. This is outrageous and very disrespectful to the home owners property. DO NOT USE this service, they are in it for the money ONLY. Customer service is not even in their thought process. So disappointed in any company that takes advantage and is not fair. I explained to them I would give a bad review if they did not give any consideration. So here I am, giving them a BAD REVIEW! read more

Beginning in 1990, A Advantage maintained the original 1950 furnace in our house and upgraded our AC. They did so most professionally. Just recently, however, the old system gave up the ghost and after consultation with A Advantage regarding several alternatives and related costs we elected to have them install a new furnace and paired AC unit. In the process we worked with several people, all of whom were knowledgeable, personable and professional. At times, there were four folks at our home to ensure that the removals and installations went well. They did and the new systems are working flawlessly. I have especially high regard for Mike, John and Isaac. We'll continue to trust them with ongoing service and will certainly consult with them as we consider different options for our old house. read more

Excellent service! Can't say enough about this company and "John". I have faithfully used them for over 20 years. They saved my home and possibly my family when they found a totally charred breaker box from another company installing a heat/ac system on a breaker of the wrong amps. Several times that company returned and charged me to replace the under rated breaker. Finally I called A Advantage. They came late in the day and immediately identified the problem, showed me the black charred back of the breaker box, notified the county, shut the elec service off and worked through the night to replace it and keep my family safe. Since then I have had boiler and heat pumps put in the home we moved into. When the a/c malfunctioned and the pan overflowed the came immediately, upgraded the overflow and repaired everything to my satisfaction. The owner himself came and inspected it and worked out a very reasonable "split" on the total cost. Last winter my wated heater leaked and stopped working. The were there the same day and replaced it at a very reasonable price. I continue to have all my maintenace and service done by John at A Advantage and highly recommend them for all heat, a/c and water heater service. read more
