OUTSTANDING FANTASTIC FLAWLESS Stucco Work. Working in construction all my life, I have a good amount of resources at my fingertips, but I knew it was going to take an especially skilled contractor to match the suede-like texture of my stucco. I even hesitated replacing doors and windows because of it. A&M's work is not only flawless, but they matched the discontinued color perfectly. For those of you unaware - it might be "easy" to match a color, but when you are looking at matching the color of stucco that has been sitting in the weather for 18 yrs, color matching is almost impossible. The work is so incredible in fact, that I am having them come back to do the entire house - not necessarily because it needs it but because their work is that much better than what I had considered perfect stucco. Just last week, the contractor working at a house in the neighborhood knocked on my door asking who had done the work because their client was wanting the same texture and their stucco subcontractor couldn't deliver. Hiring Moises company was a big mistake. I am writing this review mainly to help you not go through the same bad experiences as I did working with this company. I have worked with many contractors this past year and Moises company is the one I would definitely NOT recommend anyone to work with. I have learned that no project goes without its challenges, but a bad contractor like Moises can make things even more stressful and complicated. The company's poor reviews are here for a reason. I made the big mistake of not researching his company's reputation online first. This was our first project and many unplanned events happened so we ended up needing a stucco company in a hurry and since my main contractor worked with him in the past, we ended up hiring Moises company. I had to politely ask him many times through the project to be responsible and proactive. I really couldn't understand his lack of care and professionalism. Moises do not communicate important details of the project and ignore text message which is a big inconvenience if you are doing this kind of project for the first time. 1. He tried to overcharge us in any way he could after we were already in contract. I don't know if he's going through financial problems which wouldn't surprise me due to running business in an unprofessional matter. Here is the first example of what we experienced with him: He wasn't going to do work for a week around our home but still had all equipment set up on our front yard. Since we were living at the job site and children play on the front yard, I asked him to please put the equipment away until he resumes the work because the equipment could be a liability. He completely ignored my message and I didn't hear from him until I had to send a second message reminding his of my request. My main concern was kids or someone getting hurt with all that equipment on the way. He finally replies saying that it would cost $200 for him to send someone to put the equipment away. That was so outrageous that I couldn't believe what I was reading. Yes, this is the level we get working with Moises. I explained to him again how all that equipment for a week without being used could be a liability for his business. If anyone got hurt his company would be responsible. And that's how he finally understood how he could be liable and had someone coming the same day to put away the equipment. This was the first big sign of unprofessionalism and what was to come. 2. The next problem came when I noticed that there was a part of the stucco that wasn't being done as you can see on the photo below. He said that it's because I had a deck there before and it would be EXTRA CHARGE if I wanted that done. The reality is that the deck wasn't there when he started his stucco work and on the contract we agreed on doing the stucco work on the whole house. After confronting him with this information he finally did the job. The best way I can describe is lazy work. If you don't micromanage he will do the bare minimum. 3. Third problem came with the amount of cracks on the stucco even after the second coat. I noticed that this is something mentioned a lot on his reviews and it's definitely true. We took a lot for him to do the job right and correct most of the cracks. I understand such cracks might happen over time but you shouldn't accept that happening right after the stucco job is done. Be aware! He will try to get away with that too. Check and double check the work. In contrast to the other contractors we worked with, Moises will not come to the job site and check on the work at all. The only time I would see him was when it was time to collect payment. All our communication about the cracks were done through photos, videos and text messages. We experienced really bad business management with Moises. 4. And as we started approaching the end of the project, I had hope that we could finish strong without any more headaches. Well, I was wrong, Moises scheduled the final inspection without making sure we're ready for it. Simple things that the inspector confirmed with me that the contractor knows and should've been explained to me wasn't. There I was 8 months pregnant, with a bad contractor not giving any guidance to pass the second final inspection since we didn't pass the first final inspection. He went as far as mentioning an item that could be a problem to pass the final second inspection on the day of the inspection. I asked him why it wasn't communicated before or included on the list of items needed after not passing the first final inspection. And he didn't have an answer for it. This is clear a situation that shows a lack of care for the work. It wasn't easy solving all the last item on my own to pass the last final inspection. But I did it. And I can do now that it's all over is warn you of my terrible experience working with this business. read more

Fortunately the stucco work was acceptable. Moises was on time and his $70,000.00 stucco installation is holding up these 3 years. However there is no follow-up from him. I made 5 courteous requests from him to inform me of the company that supplied the stucco. I desperately needed to purchase a a barrel of the same color coat finish used on the original installation. I have graffiti to remove and replace with the same stucco color paint. All I need is the name of the manufacturer of the paint so I can resurface the area of removed graffiti with the same color coat. I did not ask him to do the painting. Simply tell me who you bought the stucco from. Among the 5 phone calls to him he answered 2. I asked him for the name of the stucco manufacturer and he promised he would look it up in his file and text me with the name. I have to believe that on a $70,000.00 job he would have access to our contract. Many days later still no text. Moises stuccoed my house 15 years ago and it still looks fantastic! He also plastered the interior of our home at the same time with Venetian plaster. His crew created a beautiful modern yet ancient look on our walls. I love it! There is nothing like natural surfaces to warm up a space. I cannot tell you how many complements we get including decorators and contractors who say they have never seen such beautiful subtle plastering. I love it so much that I just had him return to do more interior plaster work for a bedroom remodel, and his crew worked their magic again. Had A&M Lath & Plastering patch up some walls after having the whole house re-piped this spring. We went with A & M because 1) Moises really seemed to know what he was talking about; 2) they gave a very reasonably priced estimate for the work; 3) our old walls are lath & plaster and they were the only business we found that didn't want to do some weird drywall or sheet rock combo job. After 4 years, this stucco job still looks like new! I found A&M while looking for a contractor experienced with elastomeric stucco. After remodeling, half the walls on my house in Redwood City had new stucco badly applied by my contractor. Both the surface and the built-in color were uneven; small cracks were visible after just a few months. Paint on the old walls were peeling. Enter Moises: his proposal included replacement of some of the badly anchored new stucco. For all the old walls: cleaning and wrapping with fiber mesh to prevent cracks, and a top coat all over the house with colored acrylic built-in. I gladly gave him the contract to paint the overhead and soffits because I did not want a blame game if someone goofed. Although the proposal was on the expensive side, I would pay for it again, even with a premium: this job was perfectly executed by obviously real professionals. You can't distinguish the addition from the original walls, whose surface and color are now perfectly uniform. After 4 years, I cannot see even a single hairline crack. The stucco surfaces do not need painting, as the color is built-in. The finish is somehow dust-repellent and fade-free. Only the soffits and the window moldings were painted. Finally, my wife was very pleased to point-out that our new windows were cleaner after this work than before: Moises' workers had removed all the hardened splatter left by the previous contractor. I am very grateful that Moises was capable to correct all the problems left by the previous contractor and provided our home a great, maintenance-free curb appeal. read more

Moises responded on-site the same day for a request to quote: demo existing wood siding, replace with stucco and skim coat the entire two-story home with stucco and latex texture. The entire job took a little over 6 weeks to complete and the results are terrific. They erected scaffolding, power washed the entire house, removed the wood siding, repaired some dry rot and chipped the existing stucco back to expose existing water tight lath. They applied the scratch coat where the wood siding was. Returned onsite to apply the brown coat, paint eaves and wood trim around the house. Again returned to apply the finish coat, and foam trim plus touch up the paint and re-hang the down spouts. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. The house is beautiful. The workers cover everything in plastic when they started and cleaned up and hauled away all the waste when they left for the day. Moises did my entire home as a sub contractor after a complete rebuild on my home in 2013. I paid a reasonable amount for color elastomeric coating to prevent major cracking. Well, I expected some minor cracks but this job did not go well. He attempted two more top coats to cover the cracks, even bringing in the stucco supplier who stated that we slammed doors on the house before the stucco cured! No attempt to place a fiber mesh to reinforce the new coats were applied and now the stucco height is above the stucco stops at the doors, so we can't keep on loading on more stucco! Not a great look!. Well, after repeated attempts to contact Moises, he agreed on two different occasions to come out and take another look at the cracks that keep appearing in different locations on each coat. He no showed each time and than never returned my repeated phone calls. So, after 4+ years the cracks are getting pretty significant and no one wants to touch this project. I have had two local companies basically show no interest in fixing this mess. I had seen some of his previous work and it looked well done, but if a job goes south you don't leave the homeowner hanging with a really poor stucco job! So, please be aware that the customer service is poor and there sure is no warranty. read more

We reserve our highest recommendations for only the best and this rating for A&M is fully deserved. Moises and his team did an impeccable job completely replastering an abused former warehouse that is now a beautiful modern 2-story office. They repaired ceilings and walls, and applied a smooth plaster finish using four different colors of Imperial for the project. The estimate was cost efficient, the schedule (working around other contractors) was perfect, and the space was left absolutely clean afterward. The general contractor was so impressed, A&M was immediately engaged for several other projects. We could not be happier. read more
