This place was next to my hotel in Blythe, where there are not many food options. I prefer to support something local. The people are very nice, especially Edgar. They make their own bread. The sandwiches are ok- nothing that I thought was amazing, and I tried most of the menu. The one thing I wish they would change is the styrofoam to go boxes and all the waste associated with that. First all...like others have done, we stopped here on our way from Phoenix to Cali due to the great reviews. We all ordered sandwiches. Hot Roast beef, Philly cheese steak, turkey and deli special. Be aware the Roast beef is the same meat used on the Philly. It took over 25 minutes for our sandwiches. The hot Roast beef looked like colored cardboard and the taste was horrible. They add Sinton that looked like catchup but it is sauce. This was the worst Roast beef and Philly I ever had.. this restaurant uses very poor and cheap deli meat. We would have been better off going to subway. The bread for the turkey was sweet and had cranberry .. which of you are looking for traditional turkey get a different bread. My wife found out about A&R via Yelp on a recent trip to Phoenix and we split the turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich on the cranberry bread. I was blown away! This was a great sandwich and the cucumbers provided an unexpected brightness. Bread was superb! Absolutely love the way they did the bacon - nice and crisp. The side dill pickle was great too! A&R is super convenient to the I-10 and there's a ton of parking on that street. Well, this sandwich made such an impression that I insisted we stop in a rainstorm on the way back to SoCal. This time, we got one each and again, just perfect sandwiches. The restaurant has a classic southwestern look and the restrooms are clean. Skip the fast food joints and treat yourself to A&R! This is our 2nd time stopping here and officially our go-to spot when we drive from LA to Prescott, AZ. We always get the turkey on cranberry bread- it's a well balanced combo of savory and a hint of sweetness from the cranberry bread. The avocado, cucumber and fluffy bread make it so fresh tasting. I love this place and will always support them as a small local business. The owner is so sweet too. Skip the fast food, people!! This is sooo much better. If you are traveling on I-10 and need to stop for lunch this is the place! Actually it is the only place that is worth the stop in Blythe or Quartzite. Yes it's a bakery but they have awesome homemade sandwiches. I got the turkey on homemade cranberry spice bread. The turkey was stacked high with lettuce tomato onion, cucumber mayo and bacon. I had my choice of potato salad or chips. My hubby got the Philly steak sandwich and that was served with piping hot French fries. Everything was so fresh and yummy. I've been coming here for years. The lady owner is the rudest person I have ever met. She is rude to her customers and her employees. I don't know how they work for her being treated the way they are. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the new afternoon worker. Tall red head lady, sweetest lady, and made sure we were well taken care of. She handled rush hour wonderfully, and the food was delicious!!! P.S... do not tip the front owner, lady, if for the cooks. It does not go to them personally hand it to them. They are doing all the hard work and no credit. I have seen this for myself. Ive been working at the prison nearby for alnost six months, and "crashing" here in Blythe during the work week, as most prison employees do. Let me tell you, Blythe is not an easy place to get used to, and the lack of shopping, quality restaurants, and basically anything of redeemable quality, sticks out like a sore thumb. So it was with great pleasure that I gave this place a try. Apparently Blythe has ONE redeeming quality: this place. That turkey sandwhich everyone is raving about? Yeah, its THAT good. Get it. Man, I did NOT expect this bakery to be as good as it was - it's surrounded by fast food joints and motels, and Blythe isn't exactly a destination spot, but if you're driving this AZ/CA stretch of the 10, this is the place you should stop for food. It is a family run bakery 2 blocks off of the highway - the family is super nice, dad and mom in back, son taking orders up front. They bake their own bread, along with pastries, donuts, desserts, and donuts. I suggest just ordering their sandwiches as is - the flavors are very well paired. We got a cheesesteak and fries, and a ham sandwich with fries. The cheesesteak was fresh and good, but the ham sandwich really impressed me - made with their jalepeno bread, avocado, sweet peppers, and lettuce and tomato, it was a very good sandwich - spicy, sweet, salty, so good! We also got some churros for the road - I'd recommend it! I knew the sandwich was going to be good when locals kept stopping by and picking up to-go orders while we waited, always a good sign. It's a nice gem in the middle of nowhere. Food was yummy and fresh. Bathrooms are clean. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Service was quick and friend. Philly steak and cheese sandwich was good, fresh bread and meat was tender. Veggie sandwich was a POS disaster. Tiny little thin bits of tomato... no slices, 3 thick slices of a 1 inch in diameter cucumber and what look like a 1/2 slice of cheese split between each half of the sandwich...no thought put into that sandwich. Very disappointed as the reviews were so good. I should have returned it but didn't want the hassle. Most likely won't go back or recommend. read more

This little hole in the wall bakery just off the 10 fwy is the perfect stop for lunch on your drive to/from Phoenix (or anywhere else, for that matter)! The owner is delightful, so friendly and welcoming, and the sandwich, in my husband's words, was "the perfect sandwich!" In-house made bread (the cranberry spice bread... OMG!), delicious turkey and fresh vegetables. Yum! I love finding these little gems when traveling and will 100% be back the next time we find ourselves in Blythe. Don't skip this one! After reading the reviews the night before there was no doubt where I was headed to for lunch after checking out of my hotel. I got the turkey sandwich. I'd say it might be a little bit of a stretch to call it the best ever has some people make a mean thanksgiving leftovers sandwich, but it was damn tasty. I think his name was Alex, the kid up front, but he surely recommended. Him being an extremely efficient fast talker while also taking the time to be personable, I had to mess back with him a little. He gave me my empty plastic cup and said here's your water. I told him it didn't look like water. He laughed, I laughed, the people behind me laughed, and then looked at me like hurry the hell up. So, I got out of the way. I got the sandwich to go as I am light eater. I ate the first half there as well as my potato salad. I saved the pickle and the other half of the sandwich for driving and they were just as good an hour later. Highly recommended. I don't know if there are too many places in that town that can compete. read more
