*They left our water running all night.* A better plumber was over yesterday afternoon to work on our master bathroom tub faucet. It needs to be reversed hot/cold for the city. In other words hot water came out first which is dangerous. So we thought fine if they have to make the repair go for it. First, rich the plumber was out in December and spent weeks on the plumbing and should've seen this and fixed this then. Second, they were here yesterday afternoon for around 3 hours and they just left around 5:30pm with our landlord. They didn't say anything to us about the water not being able to turn off in the master bath. I think they flipped the hot/cold correctly, but the water just won't shut off. Very disappointed they would leave a house like this. *How do you come in for a fix, make things worse than before you arrived, and then not tell the tenants who are right in front of you that their water will be running without any next steps? read more

I had hired them in past and they did fine job at that time only. I called them again for rodding, I paid them what they ask., they told me it will come with one year guarantee, when they finished the rodding, I find out that my neighbor had already got the job done with some other company and everything is fine now and even before this company started the rodding. ( lack of communication between us neighbors) But since they did bring their machine and rodded the already opened line, I paid them anyways for opened line which they didn't tell me that it's already opened. Definitely a cheating and Lack of professionalism. When I signed the invoice and paid them, they changed their guarantee from one year to 90 days and said that just because someone else already rod ( and opened the blockage), we can't give you one year guarantee. I've used A Better Plumber twice now and have been impressed both times. My first experience with this company was with a major problem with my sewer line and they knew the problem was on the utility company's end so my landlord was NOT billed for the servicing of that sewer problem. They also knew that my plumbing issue was an emergency and a biohazard/sanitation issue -- with sewage backing up into my basement, and they got a team out to my place FAST to fix this issue! They are a 24/7 emergency responding company and this is one of the TOP reasons I hire them. My area is known for root problems in the sewer lines and this issue can easily cause an unsanitary situation at the most inopportune times. I like that these guys can do it all -- from fixing a leaky toilet to rodding out a line full of tree roots and even excavation if needed to fix a bad pipe. This indicates this company is run by someone who's extremely knowledgeable in his trade. The dispatch/office staff is also a great group of ladies and are top-notch pros in relaying concerns and coordinating between the customer and the team of plumbing technicians that are sent to a job. In every category -- competitive price, professionalism, courtesy, respect and care while working inside or outside your home, being aware of pets as they go in and out to their work-truck, and just general knowledge of their trade is 100% top notch. Just a bit of advice: I personally make sure I'm free the entire day I'm expecting *any* service guys as we all know they can occasionally run late from jobs prior to your scheduled time. Even when this team of guys was going to be late -- the dispatch office was always professional and communicates well. They're in high demand due to the prestige of being a top-rated sewage and plumbing provider contracted with our local water and sewage utility company -- Illinois American Water. This is definitely a stand up company! I started having problems in February the week before I was to go in for Knee Surgery. They were so busy but fit me in their schedule. They were at my house at 7PM! I had a backed up drain in my laundry room! The owner came out and got it to drain. Barely 30 days later it happened again! I called and once again they fit me into a busy schedule even though they were only getting paid a small fee as I have a warranty. Now 2 weeks later after washing a load of clothes it backed up again! I was so irritated! Once again they were slammed so this time I had to wait 3 days. They sent out the technician that I like, so courteous and willing to listen to me! The office insisted on doing a camera, which my warranty doesn't cover and I'm still home bound recovering and out of work! I just couldn't afford it! The technician agreed to try snaking it this last time and instead of just going out 40 feet as he did the previous time, he went out 110 feet! Everything was cleared! I hope to not see them for 6 months! ‍ such a relief! I live in the heart of Crystal Lake with 200 year old trees! I'm new to backups but this guy put me at ease! We have two sewer lines for our house--the original line that was clogged and a line from the addition that was not. We needed the kitchen line cleaned out and not only did they clean that line but also the new line which we told them did not connect to the problem line. Then they charged us $225 more than quoted because they did work we told them not to do. read more

He even went extra mile to try to figure out other options for us, when I decided not go ahead with those options, he act professionally. Among four quotes they end up in the middle, I decided to go with them mainly because of my experience (both in person and on phone). The office admin Loretta was such a angel, she explain procedures in great details, work around my schedules, and streamline every single possible tackles. I had read good review about her here, and I am happy that I used their service. It has been about a week, everything seems fine. I will never call this company again. We set an appointment for Tuesday to fix my leaking faucet. They called and cancelled. They rescheduled for Friday and then cancelled again after leaving me with a leaking faucet for a week. No apology, explanation or anything. Talked to a neighbor and found out they were overcharged for a simple job so maybe I'm better off. Woman on the phone who calls certainly isn't a plus for their business either. read more

The main sewer line out of the house backed up in the basement late on a Thursday afternoon. A Better Plumber had recently cleared the line, even though it was under a warranty condition, Rich showed up that same day to clear the line again. Using a fiber optic camera, almost 50' from the house, they found a clay pipe to PVC connection was improperly performed in the past by another company and the clay pipe had broken away from the connection. A main advantage of using the fiberoptic system; they could now locate exactly where the break had occurred in the yard. The next day Rich was able to start the process and have the utility lines located before digging. It took only one business day to receive the permit to fix the line. Which if you have ever dealt with city permitting, that could have taken days or weeks! By Monday the repair had been completed and the yard was restored ready to be seeded with grass.
