I was looking for a day spa for a massage and facial, and turned to the ol' Yelp machine. A Bit of Bliss came up, and is located a short distance away from my home. I called to make an appointment, but was informed that they were booked. A few minutes later, I received a call back that I could be accommodated. The shop is located in a small, older retail strip. The inside of the shop does need some updating, but had a very Steel Magnolias vibe. The front of the house did have an overwhelming candle or incense going. It was very strong. I love to support local businesses, and the prices were great. There are packages available, or single services. The European facial ran $65, and the 60 minute massage $60. Sold! My day began with Jean, my massage therapist. The room was clean and homey, and was the perfect temperature. Jean was amazing. She was very thorough, and made sure that the pressure was at a level that I was comfortable with. At the start, I told her that I usually don't like my lower torso and legs done, due to extreme sensitivity, and even pain. She told me that she would go very softly and give it a try, and that if it was too sensitive, I could stop. I had no sensitivity and no pain. I had a wonderful service, and was given water and a spa wrap to prepare for my facial. I believe that my aesthetician's name was Leyna, and that she is the owner of the business. We discussed my skin goals and sensitivities. She used all natural, quality products, and was very knowledgeable. The service was thorough and relaxing. When a product made my skin feel like it was burning, Leyna quickly worked to make it more cool and comfortable. I left with very soft, moisturized skin. I will definitely be back to A Bit of Bliss. I am completely impressed with Bit of Bliss and Leyna. I just complete my second appointment with her and I am just as impressed as my first appointment. I have received pedicures, manicure, and eyebrows waxing. Leyna is very professional and she takes pride in her work and business as well as sanitation. She also pays special attention to every details with each services provided. Just WOW! I went in for a gel manicure and brow wax and was very impressed! The owner herself did both and was so professional and kind. She was sweet and made me feel at home and did a fabulous job. The price was so affordable and my nails looked the best they ever have. My brows came out Kardashian perfect and I didn't feel a thing! This is a special place. The first time I came in I asked about sanitation and was taken back (to that mysterious and secret place employees go) and shown the process. I was very impressed and they've never let me down since. Thorough and gentle pedicures. My polish lasts at least a month. The supplies used in the facial are really high quality and the facialist knows what she is doing. I've noticed a huge difference. My doctor even said I look younger than my age. They have also gone out of their way to accommodate me and my mom and are always so sweet. When she was going through chemo we'd come here to feel better. I have never been so put off by a salon before. First I called and asked some basic questions about services, the girl answering the questions was rude. I asked to talk to the owner and I was informed I was already talking to the owner. Wow! I decided to book an appointment for a pedicure anyway, big mistake, I walked in and the place looked like a ghost town, only one person in there, which turned out to be the owner and what looks like the only person who "woks" there. Layna, the owner, was slow moving and seemed very bored with everything during my pedi. Many times checking the clock. My wife and I have both had facials here and they were the best we have ever had. It started with a gift certificate for my wife and of course she made me get one too. We've paid almost twice as much at other places when we used to live by the Biltmore, and surprise, this place uses the same facial products that the high end places use. They didn't try and sell me on anything and did an awesome job at analyzing my skin. She could even tell what type and condition of skin I had when I was younger and told me what to look out for in the next few years (unfortunately for my wife it doesn't involve me morphing into George Clooney anytime soon). Some might think being a man in a place like this is weird, but #1. I'm used to it, #2. I have a face too so why should I feel weird about getting a facial, and #3. Everyone was really nice, especially the woman who did my facial. I don't know if shes always that nice or just wanted to make me comfortable, but it was great. And yes, I got my eyebrows waxed too.
