First, they appear to operate under two different business names, which was confusing from the start. After booking, I received repeated calls and messages from multiple phone numbers, which was excessive and unprofessional. More importantly, the technician's visit was extremely rushed. Based on both the tenant's account and the time-stamped text messages, the entire service call lasted approximately 15 minutes -- for a three-story townhouse with a rooftop fireplace. The technician came in, stood in front of the fireplace briefly, and then left. The written diagnosis was inaccurate and internally inconsistent, and it did not align with what was actually happening at the fireplace. As a result, the $99 inspection fee is money wasted, as it provided no real value or reliable information. During the visit I told him the remote was already lighting up, so it didn't need batteries. It made NO sense to change them to begin with. While there, I asked him about fixing a loose halogen light, and he told me it was too complicated. When I explained that I had fixed them before, he then acknowledged how much I know about my fireplace, but still did not help. He just provided me a link to some glue. Nowhere during his visit did he exhibit expertise that warranted a $399 visit "for his time" (his words). After calling and emailing multiple times with absolutely no response, I texted Lance who was, it turns out, the owner, although this had never been conveyed. When we got on the phone, he was in a bad mood, called it an "f-in" (but used the real word) Monday and then proceeded to talk about how awesome he is, how much his time is worth, how many awards he has won, etc. He also said, "You are one of those people who lives in a world where you think the customer is always right, and you have no clue about the real world." He was so rude and disrespectful. My entire call with him was to understand why the invoice was $399. You can tell I'm not the first person to ever question this based on his response. I would NEVER use this company again. His work is overpriced, I'm not convinced he understands fireplaces since he changed batteries in a remote that was clearly working, communication is terrible, and his fees are not clear at all. A transactional relationship…read more I own 2 businesses in ATL and chose Moncrief based on what I perceived their reputation to be in ATL for a simple AC drain line & pan clear and clean at one of my locations (2 yr old unit) and to get a maintenance agreement going for each location. Appt was easy to schedule and I was informed a $199 fee would be due for the trip. Having lived on this earth 50 years, my experience has been trip fees are applied to work performed- NOT SO WITH MONCRIEF. First tech arrived with the wrong size ladder and couldn't service our location and immediately left- no problem, mistakes happen. The lack of same day follow-up from scheduling was a surprise. A text appeared next day that someone was on their way. Tech quoted $363 to clear the line and clean pan and informed the $199 fee was on top of that. I asked abt the maintenance agreement and he informed he would quote but they were absolutely inflexible to view these agreements or transactions together. Why would I reward the business charging me $563 for a drain line clear and pan clean with 2 annual contracts? Spoke to someone else but needed to transfer me to another "department". I led service and sales in a Fortune 500 and was never this inflexible with valued clients. I asked that my recorded call be shared across the org with feedback on their practices, I didn't need to route their org.
