I have a leak coming down my chimney. I reached out to cozy chimney and got scheduled pretty quickly. Eli came out and assessed what I told him and went on the roof to look for himself. he came up with a troubleshooting technique that I agree with. He wrapped the top of the cap with a hefty bag to eliminate that area for the leak. This leak only happens during fairly hard rain, so it could be 4 separate areas. Once he left, he told me no charge, calling this an inspection, and then followed up with a phone call the next week. I appreciate the basic follow up that seems to be a thing of the past. At this point, if it doesn't rain, the next step would be to use a garden hose to simulate rain to see if that cap is the source of the leak and go from there. professional company with regular follow up communication. read more

Called the company to request a second opinion on a custom stove on an older home (built in 1983). We received an appointment for an inspection within three days. Eli and Raphael called within the two-hour service time frame to let us know that they were running slightly behind schedule. When they arrived, they were efficient and let us know that our custom built wood-burning stove, though it lacked a data card, was in working order but required cleaning. We had been previously told by another company that we would have to replace the stove because it lacked a data card, for the cost of ~$10,000. Eli and Raphael fit us in for a cleaning appointment appointment later in the afternoon. They called to let us know that they were again running behind schedule, but notified us when they were 15 minutes way. Eli and Raphael completed the chimney cleaning despite it being after dark and rainy. They explained in detail the findings of the inspection, and confirmed that while there was no data card for the fireplace, it was up to code with the exception of an issue with the smoke chamber and the glass screen, for which they offered a reasonable quote ($650) for custom repair. They had a great deal in December for chimney cleaning and inspection. We had two chimney's to look at and in the end they only charged us for one because the other was in great shape. We had to get the firebox and crown fixed, it took a couple sessions. Eli did a great job and he was so nice to our barking dog. Asked for estimate to put in a chimney liner. Paid $69 on 12-4-2023. After a number of attempts to get the estimate I was told I needed to have a fabricated part, I sent them a readily available available part. No response. They did not appear to know what they were doing. I want my $69 back, no estimate was ever provided. They refused to either refund my $69 or provide an estimate, now almost two months. read more

The dryer air duct needed major help. I had not cleaned it in 15 yrs (what... I didn't know) and we had a mouse using it as his home. He cleaned, vacuumed, and installed the new vent pipe. super quiet, quick, and good. Pro: On time, responsive, heard my concern, informed me well, quick, clean and efficient use of time. con: he didn't wipe his shoes or had a cover on them so now I have wet shoe prints on my floor. He was however good to not walk on my carpet with those shoes:) He didn't pick up garbage after him (packed it but didn't toss it) and he didn't put the sliders under the dryer as I asked him. read more

Good and bad. First, get the bad out of the way. Website says $229 flat fee for fireplace cleaning. Only exclusions mentioned are wood or pellet stoves. Upon inspection he says the cleaning will be $349 because of how dirty it is. It was dirty, but that's not the point. I chose them based on $229 and no mention of more dirty (or anything else) costing more. Maybe I'd have chosen them anyway but now we'll never know. I wasn't about to send him away and start all over finding another company and waiting for another appointment, which I suppose they know. It felt very "bait and switch" and I don't think it is good business practice. That said (here's the good), he did a great job of cleaning what was a pretty dirty fireplace. Plus he answered all my questions clearly and explained some things to help me best maintain my fireplace in the future. All that on top of being super courteous and cleaning up fully after his work. That's awesome and I am very happy with that part of it. If it weren't for the money part, this would be 5 stars. Bottom line: I think their website or the initial phone call should mention $229 is for an easy clean, dirtier fireplaces are going to cost more, and give a range of how much more. Without that they are unfairly getting customers like me who might have called someone else, which is not fair to all the companies who charge what they said they would charge. read more

Eli from Cozy chimney did a deep clean on our wood burning insert. I was surprised how much creosote had built up given that it was only occationally used. He spent a couple hours disassembling and reassembling the unit as well as cleaning the chimney liner itself. The cost was reasonable and just as important he knew what he was doing. He was careful to move furniture and rugs out of the work area and put a drop cloth down over the hearth and floor in front of the fireplace. Everything was left spotless. Our unit was working poorly before the clean, having trouble drawing, now it works as it did when new. read more

Made an appointment on Nov 14 @ 2pm to inspect the chimney. 1st appointment, the employee didn't show up so I called the company. They reached out to the employee and the employee said he had a family emergency. I was upset that they didn't notify me on top of not showing up but I decided to give them a 2nd chance because it was a family emergency. I booked another appointment on Nov 17 from 1-3pm. No show again! I called the company again to see what happened. The employee never called me back to even explain the no show. I think the guy that came out was pleasant/ nice, but overall a bad experience. He spent maybe 10 minutes in the house (including time spent on the roof) and told me I needed to spend almost 5k to make the chimney "safe" to use. He said there was a lot of damage to the smoke chamber, repair needed on brick, etc. I got a second opinion and spent under 1k. I think he was trying to capitalize on the fact that I don't know anything about having a fireplace, as this is my first home with one. I hired A Cozy Chimney to replace the top crown on my brick fireplace and fill in the places in the mortar that needed it from age and repair the lower crown. Two men came the first time and did part of the job and made arrangements to return 9 days later to complete the job. It appears they did a good job. The guy who finished the job took a picture of the top crown so I could see the finished job (since it was above my roof). The guys were friendly and hard working. Both times I was given a window of time for my appointments and they arrived at the end of the window or late without a call to tell me they were running late. That is my only complaint. read more

Debating between 1 and 2 stars here. So we had a leak appear due to all the rain and used Yelps project message system and A Cozy Chimney was one of the easier ones to message with INITIALLY. They got someone out who did an estimate and helped diag the leak, I agreed to the price and paid the 30% deposit and understood they would have to wait for rain to stop to due the repairs and they would contact me with scheduling. 3 weeks later after calling multiple times to get an update since they failed to provide any, the work finally got started. Ignoring the fact I got passed around multiple times because they couldn't even find the paperwork showing what I was due to get repaired and thought I wanted a cleaning. Worker comes out and does initial repair in the morning, says he wants to come back later that day or next morning to retest leak, cool that makes sense. Next morning get a text saying he is held up at another job, so I reply with "Ok, thank you." Then nothing until today 2/6, almost a week later the tech asks if he can come by in 20-40 mins. My advise, find a different shop to work with. Communication is key and this place sucks. Is the leak gone? Yes. Is it good value for the money? Probably not, but I am not a chimney expert. From a customer service standpoint, I would steer clear. read more

I asked for an estimate to have the refractory panels changed in my fireplace they assigned me to a technician named Eli which called me promptly discussed with him what I wanted without seeing my fireplace he said it's going to be a very expensive job it cost about $3,000 to send him a picture and measurements which I did told me the back panel would be $1,800 and $700 aside. Said it was custom work that's why it's so expensive. I was able to have another company come out inspect my fireplace fee of charge to do the whole job $1,150 no custom work needed the technician that came out couldn't understand cozy chimneys estimate for all thee panels is $738 a very simple straightforward job. My experience with a cozy chimney is at the rip-off overpriced and take advantage of people very unprofessional my advice is to not use them. read more

I called looking for someone to come out and inspect the chimney cap that got taken off after the house was painted. Lucky for me someone was already in the area and able to stop by in the afternoon. He made sure to not only inspect the cap but also the chimney itself to make sure no other repairs were needed.
