This was my first time bringing her to this particular groomer, and I have to say, everyone was super friendly. The place looks very clean and well organized, and it's very mellow as far as sound levels and vibes go. BUT OH MY GOD When I went to pick her up, (they said an hour and they were not kidding, to the minute, very good service) SHE HAD THE HAIR BOWS!!! Okay let me explain, my dog is a smooth coat Chi-poo mix, and she has never EVER been able to have clips and such stay on, but they managed to make two of the smee-est doinky-est little pigtails with pink bows. SO CUTE!! They lasted longer than all other bow attempts, staying in for almost three hours, till she finally lost one when we got home, and then the other one about an hour later while she was napping. But I was very impressed that they made it home and took lots of pictures, just in case it never works again. Anyway, this place was ready when we got there, took her right in and they were done when they said they would be, plus they did an excellent job of softening our dog and making her nice and clean and fresh and pretty. Plus the value for the price was super good. We've already made her second appointment! If I had to make one complaint, it would be I did not care for the perfume they used, it was a little too much for me. But i feel confident that when I go back they'll leave it off the service when I ask. They were super friendly. ...I wonder if they have purple or green bows... ooo or black ones....? This review is so long overdue! I've been coming here for about 1-1.5yrs. Best groomer I've been to for several reasons. After moving to San Jose, I had tried like 3 different places before I finally found A Dog's Tail. My girl has issues with her back legs and they easily get dislocated. After every groomer before, she would come back really depressed and lifeless, wouldn't get up for food/water after every groom and she would come home limping. After switching, that hasn't been the case. She comes home happy and with a pep in her step. My Shih Tzu/maltese mix gets groomed by Jaqueline and I'm never disappointed. I feel confident and trust she's treated kindly and thoughtfully. Everyone is also so nice there and reasonable prices! They also groom the dogs within sight which is always a plus! read more

I brought my 10 month old Labradoodle for grooming. I knew that he got lot of mattes. Groomer called me to inform about it and gave me options of leaving it so I can de-matte by myself or groom the hair close to the skin or hybrid groom by going very close near neck and remaining areas to cut accordingly. I really appreciate the discussion and giving me options. He looked better than what I feared. I recently adopted a Great Pyrenees who tends to be anxious and dog-reactive. The staff I spoke to on the phone was kind enough to find an appointment for me where my dog would not meet other clients. Eternity did an AMAZING job - he came back like a new dog! I am impressed with how she was able to demat his tail and offer advice about products to help upkeep. She also said that my dog did really well during the appointment (he even ignored the sleeping dogs that stay in the front), so she must have a magical calming presence. I love A Dog's Tail! The groomers are so nice and chill and do an amazing dog on our Shih Tzu. He is soooo happy whenever he comes inside which is a good thing! We come here every 4-6 weeks for a cut. Their prices are super reasonable especially for the Bay Area. The location is not too far from our home but also not the closest groomers to us. But we still choose A Dog's Tail to take care of our puppy's haircuts. We have been to two other grooming places but our experience here is the best. Highly recommend this place! My 9.5 lb fur ball Toby can get quite anxious going to grooming and vet appointments, so when I find someone who he likes, that's a big deal. Ana has been Toby's groomer for many years because not only is she fantastic at her profession, but she is also patient and kind to the little guy. I've been having a hard time keeping up with my keeshond's brushing needs due to my baby and I've been chickening out of getting him groomed in fear that someone might trim his coat. I took my dog to get her nails trimmed. She is easiest dog to work with, bathing, nails, ears, she doesn't care. You can pretty much do anything to her as long as you're not hurting her. They were grinding her nails and she started to cry. I yelled STOP! You're hurting her! They kept going and were just saying to her, "It's ok" as if she was just being fussy! I know this dog very well. If she's crying out its because she's being hurt. If you grind too long on a nail you can hit the quick or overheat the nail till it burns the nerve. I had to reprat and telled to them to STOP! I was very upset. If you don't know any better than to hurt my dog, I'm not ever coming back. read more

Do you have a really anxious dog? I do and it has been hard to find a groomer that will take Stormi, our shih tzu, for a nail trimming. I'm so glad that we found A Dog's Tail! On our first visit, Elizabeth and Jacqueline took such good care of Stormi. First, they set up an appointment where they won't be busy and rushed. Second, they were so gentle and patient with her. Stormi was shaking so bad but she made it and Liz and Jacqueline made it a good experience. We just came back for her second nail trimming and Stormi was not shaking as much plus the appointment went faster this time. Stormi was less nervous so I think a few more visits and she'll be happy to see Liz and Jacqueline. I can not say it enough. When I arrived today the groomer who greeted us was friendly and professional, and did an excellent job. I was able to watch as she gently maneuvered my elderly dog, who didn't make a peep.
