Our 14yo spaniel rescue mutt Kirby is a very sweet boy who absolutely hates baths, grooming, and being left in a kennel. He is a very difficult client, even with some prescribed medical help from our vet. And yet, Maggie is still very sweet and patient with him. As much as Kirby hates grooming, it's clear he's more comfortable once his over-the-top fluffiness and shag is cleaned up. Note that this review is just for a nail trim and grind since we do the rest of the grooming for our dog; nails are a bit tough for us. I called on a Saturday at noon to see if they take walk-in for our small dog to get the nail trim and grind - they just asked that we arrive at least 30 minutes before they close for the day. With COVID, they're great about wearing masks and not letting too many folks through the front door. The groomer was super professional and was able to get our girl's nails done quickly and efficiently for a great price for the area too! I had high hopes for this place. I called for a walkin shampoo and fluff. They put us on the schedule. After I picked up, I was saddened to hear that my puppo had a lot of mats, he looked to be air dried and he wasn't thoroughly washed. His flea topical treatment still had residual on his fur. When my pup is roughly shampood and then left to airdry, that will mat his fur. He's a golden doodle and we are pretty good with brushing and no groomer has said he was "all matted up". very disappointed. I wish they would have not taken us if they didn't have the time :( I am still dealing with the knots from that shampoo service. read more

If I'm going to pay a place regularly, I want to make sure I'm investing it in a professional, safe, and genuinely caring business. Bentley has been to several places before this and M & J has the best attention to detail. He always smells and looks good after his appointments. Maggie and staff are very patient and caring with Bentley, who can be extremely nervous with strangers. I usually make an appointment a couple weeks in advance, and the appointments usually last ~2 hours. The previous place we went to usually took ~4 hours, which makes me think they keep the dogs in the crate for an extended period of time. I highly recommend this place! read more

Just picked up my golden retriever from being groomed by Maggie and I am so happy how fresh and clean he is! My 80lb dog has thick coat and is not the easiest to groom. He is very stubborn and reluctant when it comes to brushing and nail trimming. And for his size you will definitely need two people. Maggie gave him a good wash, fur trim and brushed out all his undercoat and knots. I keep staring at his perfectly trim paws. Took a leap of faith and had my precious furchild groomed here today. I am that pet mom that has to stay and make sure my pup was being taken care of.. i was also looking at how they treated every dog they groomed while i waited. Although it took Maggie over 3.5 hrs to finish my pup (a lil over an hr to actually groom), i did notice that she was gentle with my pup throughout the whole process. Her staff was also very gentle (they have one person bathing the pups while another grooms). I saw her talking to my pup when he would move, and i caught her making kissing sounds just like i do. Lol at first she told me not to wait in the lobby, but i told her i had nowhere else to go so i just stayed. I guess she thought, 'eh not like i can stop u' lol.. maybe she just didnt want me to wait too long or feel the need to rush, who knows. Anyways, i will be coming back. I also didnt realize that i had to mention a full ear cleaning as she did not pluck my pup's ear hairs like other groomers. But thats okay. She did a great job regardless. $55 for a full groom is not bad at all. I felt so bad i didnt tip since i had no cash but will def make up for it next time i come. Maggie does a great job on our golden doodle. She goes in mangy and comes out beautifully groomed. Good news they are open for drop off currently. Make sure you wear a mask and are prepared to drop your dog off on leash at the door. Call at least 4 weeks ahead to get an appointment as the book up fast. read more

Second visit to this pooch groomer and I'm still keeping the rating. Just expect that any full grooming appt. is gonna be like 3 hrs. - I live a little far from this place so I happily killed time working from some bfast place across the street then Zannotto's. Will post reviews later on those. Maggie has some regular staff it seems- I get the idea it's a son and wife or something but he is polite, very quiet- just takes pooch and doesn't say much and then Maggie asks the questions about what I want as far as type of service and length of trim. The salon is small, very quiet and feels kinda' tranquil if that makes sense- like, it just feels like a calm little simple, no frills family mom n pop shop but for pooches. Bigger salons and especially commercial ones seem to pack in as many appts as possible but then just keep your pooch in a holding cell for however long before they even start on them- time in a kennel at a groomer is anxiety for a dog. My former groomer in SC did that and would overbook herself so she always seemed rushed, agitated and flippant. So glad I left her. Maggie said it would be 3 hrs. I dropped him off at 8:35 and was called at 11:28 a.m. He looked like a clean-cut fluffy little cloud and most importantly, he seemed alert and happy- like his normal self. The only thing I noticed is he had a strong aroma- any groomer usually puts some sort of pooch cologne or maybe it's their shampoo which I don't mind. This one just happened to smell hella strong and exactly like my late grandma- no disrespect may she rip but omg i could smell him from several feet away for the first 3 days. Not a complaint. Just an observation. Keep it up, Maggie- and I would recommend this place to anyone! Got my 3rd appt. booked! read more

Horrible experience just off of a phone call. Called to schedule an appointment and person who answered phone seemed to be occupied elsewhere and unattentive. Kept having to repeat the answers to my questions. Asked when I can schedule an appointment for and she said in November. I said "Tomorrow is November, are you available tomorrow and she said no". I asked for about 3 different days and she kept saying no. So I than asked when is the next available date and she said November again. I asked when in November and she said the last week in November we are short staffed. I understand being short staffed but she could have said that since the beginning. read more

My hefty shih tzu and Maltese mix needs regular grooming. Previously, I cut her hair at home, which was a long and not very easy process for the both of us. I gave in and decided to get her professionally groomed after moving into a place with carpet. I love the way Maggie cuts her hair. The close cut around her body with longer hair on her tail and face are adorable. She gets compliments all the time, and I must have shared this yelp page at least 5 times now with others who have randomly asked while out at the park. My dog is anxious and does not like hair cuts. We take peanut here almost since their first week of business. Very happy with the treatment and results every time. The place is clean, they are very kind and helpful, and it's usually easy to schedule an comfortable appointment. Most important, unlike other groomers who try to fit as many dogs as possible in each hours, here they don't hold the dogs for hours, don't cage them and give each dog/owner their full attention and time. I usually ask for very short cut during summer and s longer style on winter time. They always do exactly what asked and their styling is beautiful. Peanut hates the camera so it is almost impossible to get a good picture to show how gorgeous he is after coming back from grooming with m&j pet grooming, but he looks like a completely different dog than the usual messy dog who runs outside all day and refuses bath. read more

I don't think Snoopy has ever smelled so good, his fur so white, and his cut so even. They did a fantastic job and got me in very quickly! I feel like they went above and beyond as I noticed some additional positives I wanted to point out: -He didn't have any loose cut hair on him. I was able to pet him right away and pick him up without getting myself covered in hair trimmings. -He didn't have cut pieces of hair in his eyes, they were clear and clean. We normally have a mobile service groom our bernedoodle, but decided to try out M&J Pet Grooming because it is close by. Never again. Our dog came back with razor burn on his underbelly and private areas. On top of that, the groomers cut him (1 inch cut) with the clippers without telling us. I have used M&J for over a year to groom my 21 lb. Tibetan terrier, and they have done a nice job until my recent appt. My boy came back with a choppy, uneven haircut. Chunks of Uncut fur stuck out all over, and he looked like they rushed because it was near Christmas and they were too busy to take their usual care. I took my Australian Shepherd here for a wash and trim. She gets really nervous and the groomer took the time to let my dog get used to her before I left. I was happy with the results and thought the price was fair. The one thing I was not happy with is my dog was there for about 5 hours and when I picked her up she took the longest pee outside of the groomer and when we got home she chugged water for a minute straight. She obviously did not get a potty break or any water while she was there. I will be back for my dog's next appointment but I am going to request that she gets a bathroom break and water. If the same thing happens I will find another groomer. read more

Maggie is awesome! I have a labradoodle and they need regular grooming. I have been taking my dog to M&J Pet Grooming for the past one year. Maggie is very friendly and patiently listens to what kind of style I need for my dog. Then Maggie and her team works meticulously for the next 2-3 hours to make my fur baby look beautiful.
