Route 60 runs thru Jamestown , it's before going out of the city limits on the right just pass south side shopping mall . Diner in is small , but you can take out . They have great deals all year round on hot dogs , hamburgers , fries and etc. HAVE EAT THERE FOR YEARS ,I now don't live around there but when I come to town they are the only place I eat at . Run by fine people . They even have their sauce bottle and can even send then to you where ever you live . Glass jars of their famous sauce . Just call and they will get it to you . Jamestown is known for their different Texas Hots, but I have to say that AJ's has been consistently good for my entire life. I have some good memories of having a half day when I was at Jefferson MS up the hill, coming down here with friends for lunch before our moms could take their lunch break to come pick us up. Also, AJ's the first place I ever had (or ever got to have) loganberry pop! You can't beat the takeout deal of 3 dogs or burgers.They were just as I remembered them. For the uninitiated, they might be a little much to eat and run, but if you have an empty stomach, you are set. I am not much of a hot dog person, so I always get the burgers and they are tender and tasty. They even hold up well after a 1hr+ car ride and a little heating up in the microwave! I picked up some onion rings and ate in car and they were good. Be daring and get the Texas Fries! Love that the inside hasn't changed either. While they did have to take down the old sign for safety reasons, I liked that it was featured on the back of the worker's shirts. No, this isn't fine dining, but is a nostalgic part of Jamestown. If I could give zero stars I would. It seems that AJS is a local favorite. However, myself being from Seattle and having actually experienced a wide variety of dining experiences have been utterly disappointed time and time again with AJs. 3 times I was in the drive through over 15 minutes also the staff was very rude..no smile no have a nice day....no customer service at all...The guy at the window was sweating profusely and my hot dogs and fries were covered with what looked like excrement..basically it was as if someone had defecated on my food. It smelled pretty good despite the discusting presentation..but it was tastless...Brown goo....that coated everything making it slimy...it wouldn't feed the food I was served to my dog. read more

While the service and milkshake were great, I can't rate the food very highly. The only flavor in the hot dogs was salt, and the sauce was just okay. The fries were in no way fresh, but I did really appreciate the steamed bun. I'm afraid I will not be going back. read more

A true treasure in Jamestown. My mom grew up in Jamestown and always loved sharing her stories of AJ's and how she used to go after school everyday to get her three hotdogs with sauce. When we go to Jamestown to visit family now, it is ALWAYS the first place we go for lunch. The prices are unbeatable, and the sauce in incredible! I always get the hotdogs with everything and an order of onion rings, which are the best. You know onion rings are good when you take a bite and they don't fall apart or the onion doesn't slide right out. The burgers and fries are also delicious! This is just one of those places where you can't not go to when in Jamestown. We also always buy a jar of their famous sauce so we can have AJ's at home. My fiancé, who is also not from Jamestown, has become obsessed with AJ's. When we were visiting this past weekend, he had somehow gotten it 3 times in less than 24 hours! Used the drive thru at this location. there was only one car in the lot and no one in front of me in the drive thru; however, i waited a few minutes before anyone welcomed me and asked to take my order. when someone finally came on the other end it sounded like i had ruined their day by driving up. thankfully the person who took my order didn't deliver at the next window. the food was hot, fresh and as ordered, that was great. everyone deserves to have a bad day so i wont hold that against them read more

Heaven on Earth Growing up we lived about an hour away and my parents always stopped here when we were in the area, sometimes making a special commute just because of an overwhelming craving. Used to love this place and have been a loyal customer for decades. Sadly the last THREE take out orders we've gotten from here have been completely wrong. I've called twice to let them know and both times treated rudely on the phone. This time I didn't even bother to call, they obviously do not care. WHENEVER I visit Jamestown, a trip to AJ Texas Hots is a GIVEN!! I always get three hot dogs with the sauce and fries--of course--and get a sneak peek of HEAVEN. My daughter has developed a love of these delicacies but has to have her own order. I love my daughter BUT I cannot share my hot dogs. She understands and does not share hers either. You may want to visit that Lucy Museum AFTER you get your hot dogs or hamburgers but be sure to do it in THAT ORDER. i am going tomorrow so I better stop now. read more
