An old mill turned country store. The store part has many handcrafted items that are cute. I came for the food. Counter service but with inside and outside dining. A pretty extensive menu. I had the deep fried artichoke with spinach dip side, and one of the Taco Tuesday specials taco pizza. The pizza was spiced ground beef , onion,and green peppers. Very tasty. The artichokes were unique, flavorful, and one of the best appetizers I have eaten. Housemade, crispy that dipped into a very good creamy spinach dip. Pizza and wings are on the menu. Sandwiches, pitas, and subs hot and cold. All looked good. I was going to get a half Rubin but saw the taco pizza. read more

Asheville General store is awesome with really really high quality food. All the subs on the menu are top notch but in my opinion the Jester is the best sub there and is delicious. You can't go wrong w any of the subs on the menu though. The appetizers are delicious as well especially the pizza logs. I would advise calling in advance as it is generally pretty busy and that will help both parties out a lot. Then inside is neat and there's a lot of stuff you can buy inside as well. The food is top notch and the building is very unique. There's indoor seating and outdoor seating. If you're looking for great subs this is the place to go. read more

Great stop for food or other things you need! They have mustard chips I can't find anywhere else.

We went there today for dinner. We purchased a 10in Turkey Sub and 1/2lb Tomato & Cucumber salad. The salad was good but could have used more tomatoes. As for the Turkey Sub it had one piece of Turkey & one piece of bacon along with Lettuce. The bread was wonderful but the sub was Monday worth the 13.99. Sorry to say we will not be going back. read more

Unique place with a unique menu. We were there at a very busy time. Lots of take out orders were being placed and picked up. We, however chose to dine in the store as we live about 30 minutes away. Our order was taken promptly, but I think our order got mixed up with the take out orders and we ended up waiting almost 40 minutes for our food, and when we did get it, it was wrapped in to go wrappers. Our food was not very warm. The food was really tasty. The pub chips were a nice touch and were very good. I will chalk up the order mix up to being an exceptionally busy evening and we will return to give it another chance. The place has a cool, laid back vibe to it. Without a doubt, Ashville General Store has the best BLT I have ever had. I felt that the bread was perfectly toasted, there was just the right amount of mayo, and the tomatoes were ripe. The bacon is the star of this sandwich, though. It was lean, crispy, and plentiful. The store is delightful and filled with all sorts of local specialities, handmade items, gifts, and candies. You could spend loads of time here exploring all of the offerings. This is definitely a special place! read more

Although the town (village? not sure, it is really small) of Ashville is unlikely to be your final destination when you travel to the Southern Tier of New York, you should definitely stop into the Ashville General Store for a bite or sip of homestyle comfort. The store itself is quite unique with an eclectic selection of dissimilar items such as farm feed, local arts and crafts, stationery, candy and pretty much anything else you would expect to find in a general store in the middle of nowhere. If you don't find anything you'd like to buy on the well-stocked shelves, make your way to the back of the store and order up some first class eats. This is a no-frills-order-at-the-counter kind of place and the food will be brought to you at your booth (in our case it was two old church pews facing each other across a big wooden table). I ordered the half egg salad pita and cup of tomato soup, my wife ordered the bowl of chili. You pay at the front cash at the front of the store when you leave. Both the chili and the tomato soup were made from scratch and served piping hot with crackers. The chili was rich and meaty, brimming with beans and tomatoes in a zesty but not too spicy base. Served with a side of grilled garlic bread, it was the perfect comfort food for a chilly spring day. My half pita sandwich was fresh, stuffed with a creamy and savoury egg salad. The soup was hot and had chunks of fresh tomato, the base nice and light. The shredded cheddar cheese on the soup took me back to my childhood when I would dunk my grilled cheese sandwiches in my tomato soup. Two can eat lunch for less than $12 and do save room for a homemade cookie that they sell at the cash ($1.75 and worth every penny). Great food and a fair price. Definitely a family favorite. Plus you can do some cool shopping.

On one hand, the property looks absolutely disgusting from the outside: spiderwebs all over the building, everything is dirty, and the building itself looks like it's about to fall over. Go inside though, and it's a strange new world. There is a lot to take in, from the random locals trying to sell you their used furniture and/or boats on the cork board at the entryway to the eclectic and never ending grocery selection. One thing is for sure... their food is top notch. I couldn't decide what I wanted to try after 20 minutes staring at their menu, so I closed my eyes and pointed. I landed on the Bang Tail sub and I was not disappointed. It's a fan favorite and rightly so. I recommend this place for sure! read more

My husband and I were in town for a family gathering and we wanted WNY wings. I initially thought of the General Store for the amazing RaRa Chicken salad. When I heard they had wings we got 50 for the party. They were AMAZING. We both agreed some of the best wings we've ever had. We got half medium and the other butter garlic. Both were great! We will definitely be getting more next time we are in town. read more

Every time I visit Chautauqua County I'm sure to stop by Ashville General Store as often as possible. Their prime rib sandwiches are fantastic, the pizza is the best in the county, and their salads, especially the cucumber and tomato salad, are wonderful. It's a great place. read more

Decent food, nothing all that special. We order wings and pepperoni pizza and ate in the store. Pizza crust is similar to golden coral buffet pizza, a bit thick for New York style. Wings were over cooked and dry, sauces were good. Food took about 30 minutes to come out after ordering. Cool general store with lots to look at while you wait for your food. I was taken by my friend on a yelp adventure to this place today. It's a bit of a drive from Jamestown but worth it, Ashville has cool architecture and a neat little cemetery. I got 6 bbq wings and 6 garlic butter, both were good. My friend got medium Wings with ranch, she liked them a lot and dipped them in my butter garlic which made them even better. I got a cookie to go as well. I think they need signs to explain where to order and I think they should bus your tables for you. read more

The Ashville Deli is the type of cool hole in the wall with an unforgettable ambiance. It is a great spot all year round but it is busier in the Summer. The drink selection is awesome and cheap. Everyone I take here compliments the crispy, fresh sub rolls and the generous portions. I have had every sub on the menu and they are all delicious. The triple bypass and bbq chicken finger subs are must try experiences. This is one of my favorite spots. read more

What a hidden gem in the small town. But their subs were amazing! It's very country, old timey, no frills inside type of place. But that kinda made it even better! It felt like a true home town spot that locals go to for some delicious food. There were coolers with a variety of drinks, bags of chips, wrapped up desserts, and pizza they brought out you could buy by the slice. A little bit of everything you could need for a quick lunch. We stopped and ate 2 hot subs on our way out of town and both were so good! Looking forward to go back next time I'm passing through. read more

I have been going here since I was young, awesome and large variety of drinks & food, very friendly workers and servers, always get food in 20 min or less. We have often spoken about how much we miss the amazing food from this place!*** I am new to these parts and I am definetly on the lookout for great places to eat. I had gone to the Starbucks and the Baristo told me I must go try out the food at this place. He told me that when he moved to Virginia he had dreams of the food from this place! So I said 'Let me try it'. I looked it up online, they have a website: http://www.ashvillegeneralstore.com Their address 4844 Route 474, Ashville, NY 14710 and I used it in my GPS and it got me there fine. Yelp gives a different address, but I know Lakewood and Ashville are right next to each other so I guess both addresses would work. Okay, so I went in there at like 9ish and I already fell in like with it because it has a very old town small look and feel to it that is very original. I'm from Bergen County NJ, you don't have anything like that there. I ordered 6 piece wings with Honey Mustard sauce and Turkey Sizzler Pita. I had to wait like maybe 20 minutes but it was fine, I got a chance to read the Chautauqua Star and catch up on what's going on around here. When my food was finally ready, the guy came out and gave me the bag...and said "Here you go dear, enjoy". He is like 18, but he was very kind. I got home and finally sat down to eat and was happily surprised. I ate half of the food and felt satisfied with the portion. So I get to enjoy the rest of it later! When my fiance comes to visit me in December, I am glad there is a place I can take him to so he can enjoy food he doesnt get to enjoy while in the Navy. This place is wonderful! Great service, amazing food, and an awesome atmosphere! My friends and family always request to eat here when they come in to town! My favorite items on the menu include chicken wings with everything sauce and the French fries! I also would recommend any kind of hot or cold sub that you can concoct!
