This place has a very extensive Mexican food menu. Lots of things sounded good, but we settled on the Fish Fajitas and the Carne Asada. We also got a small side of guacamole ($6.50) to enjoy with our complementary chips with salsa. First, the chips with salsa. The chips were very good, on the thicker side and slightly salted. The salsa had a rich tomato flavor with a few chunks of jalapeño, but the salsa could have been generally a little spicier for my taste - maybe more jalapeño? The guacamole was mostly smooth with a few chunks, and was tasty. I enjoyed my fish fajitas. A piece of fish, salmon and 6 small shrimp cooked with a decent amount of grilled green pepper and onion. Nice portion ($16.75) and came with a large separate plate with pico, guac, refried beans, rice, lettuce and sour cream. Three flour tortillas accompanied the dish. The carne asada ($13.99) came with two nice sized pieces of grilled beef, grilled onions and grilled jalapeños and mushrooms. Also came with the rice, refried beans and other sides, including the flour tortillas. My partner found the carne to be slightly tough, but flavorful. Service was good. When we sat, the server soon brought over the chips and salsa and our food came fairly quickly after we ordered. We had to ask to have our empty water glasses filled, although the server did come over twice (when our glasses weren't yet empty) during our meal to ask if we wanted anything. We were starving after visiting the Lucy and Desi Museum. So happy that we found this gem down the street. I love Mexican Food and it's hard to find classic, authentic Mexican Food. They really delivered. The chips and salsa were good to start. My mom and I loved our chimichangas. They were so crunchy and flavorful. My husband enjoyed his choripollo (chorizo and chicken) but it had too onions and cheese even though he said no cheese. The waitress was very nice and attentive. We've been there twice now and both times got the chicken wings. We are not from the area but made it a point to go back when we returned. This restaurant is everything we always hope to find when venturing into new territory- a friendly family operated establishment where the food is delicious, the service is friendly and prompt at a price that doesn't break the bank. Our meals were both delicious- the biggest problem was that the menu is so big you really have a hard time deciding what to order- everything looks so good! Stopped by for an early dinner during the weekend and found the establishment just average. The restaurant itself was small and lacking anything that really stood out. The food was hit-and-miss with our party of 4. My brother-in-law and his wife really liked their steak fajitas, but said their refried beans and rice were bland. I had a burrito with a red sauce (which was excellent), but a handful of chicken and steak pieces inside were dried out or left on the grill too long. My wife's steak tacos were dried out and lacking any real flavor. On a positive note, our waitress was very friendly and kept up on refills and chips. The manager also checked in with us as well. I will probably go back again and try the food during dinner rush. I may have just gotten the rest of the lunch meats. Food is over the top! The restaurant was recommended and I was glad we went. Our friend had tacos, my partner the burritos with a white sauce and me the grilled chicken with a red sauce. All the freshest hand made ingredients. I love Mexican and this is the best in Chautauqua County. Super reasonable price. Service was attentive, but something other than casual street clothes would be recommended. (Possibly a restaurant workers vest?) The place is tired and could use an update. Stopped in early on a Saturday evening for a quick bite. The salsa that came with the chips was perfect, crisp and fresh. I had chile verde and it was really nicely done; the meat was very tender and falling apart, the sauce was well seasoned. My boyfriend had the Chori Pollo, which I'd never had before. I was blown away by it, and kept stealing bites off his plate. The sides were standard, nothing too exciting. The interior was nothing special, but the prices were great. Had a wonderful dinner that began with our very pleasant and attentive server. The chips were fresh and the salsa spicy. We both ordered fajitas--she had chicken and I steak. They were delicious and the accompanying plate of lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole was fresh and a nice portion. The rice was light, fluffy, and not overwhelming. The refried beans were perfect. The atmosphere was about what you'd expect and comforting that way. We felt welcome and wanted to express our gratitude. We hope to return some day. To me, this restaurant was fast, reasonably priced, and tasted great! I sat down for lunch, was greeted quickly, had complimentary chips, salsa, and a drink on my table almost as soon as I sat down, and waited only 5 minutes for my food to come out. I ordered something simple (Beef Taquitos) but they were fantastic. The cheese sauce on top was a nice touch and very flavorful. I enjoyed my experience at El Jarocho and will surely be back. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars was the atmosphere. The windows are BRIGHT, there was a TV playing on mute with Spanish music playing in the background, with just paper decorations and hand written signs on the walls and windows. The food was sufficient grub, but the experience was terrible, I doubt there are as many flies in Tijuana. I literally had to actively fight flies throughout the entire meal. Bastards dive bombed my plate several times. Landed all over me. It was so disconcerting that I was unable to really evaluate the food. Maybe it was an anomalous day for them.... We were lucky enough to stop there in Jamestown on our way through from Michigan to the thousand Islands we are staying right around the corner at the La Quinta. We ended up going there late one night small place wonderful ambience just so friendly and the food was absolutely delicious we ended up purchasing some extra chips and salsa to go for the weekend. We ended up eating the chips and salsa and even bought some more chips at just a grocery store not as good though but the chimichanga and the steak burrito or phenomenal priced well we liked it so much that on our way from the thousand Islands back to Michigan we conveniently got tired and had to spend the night again so we can go there in the morning and have lunch fantastic food fantastic food. The food was amazing with fresh avocados and salsa. I got the molcajete fajita which came with a delicious house sauce soaking several meats, vegetables and pineapple. Small warning it's massive and can easily be split between two people just order three more tortillas or take the rest to go and order three more tortillas and get a second meal out of it for only 14.99. read more
