A plus for location, décor and vibe. B- for service and food. This place is cool. Like a couple of places on the island, it has this lets get all the signs, some plywood and make a bar and grill! The deck is a great place to eat and watch the sun set. You definitely feel like you are on vacation. The watermelon margarita is sweet. It tasted like watermelon. Two us got grilled chicken and veggies. It was cold. Not even remotely warm. One of us got steak and they said it was great and another got the alfredo, also great. Service was slow. It was busy. I get it. I am not a monster. We were served our food by a runner and we asked for things like ranch, drink refills, and there was hustle to make that happen but cold food is such a drag. Thankfully grilled chicken isn't the worst thing to eat cold but sending it back just wasn't an option. I would have had to flag someone down... can't be bothered with that. I would bet that this place would be the place to be when things aren't insane. Mid afternoon on a nice day for cocktails and appetizers. It is really a cool vibe and I want it to be amazing. After eating we headed outside and the girls played with the cats living outside. The restaurant does what they can to care for them which is very kind. Came here for lunch a couple weeks back. The entrance was so cute. There is a beach vibe right in the front with the wooden beach chair and straw umbrella. It's like a beach and island theme. I really like the wooden signs. The views were amazing. Our temperatures were checked upon arrival. It was a little hot but it felt safe eating in an outdoor seating area. Our server was great. The food was amazing. We got the food pretty quickly. Dockside dine out was a success! Hopefully we get to come here again when I'm in town. read more

WARNING.. on a visit here my check was altered after signing! I called later and was told the manger was busy.. never returned my call. This place will take your signed receipt and re tip themselves a larger percent.. avoid at all costs. Further than that, the service was terrible, food was below drive through quality and the drinks were watered down and gross. Many other places on Tybee far more deserving of your money!! read more

So I have to give it credit for being one of the only restaurants that was organized and prepared for COVID - you CAN make reservations unlike every other restaurant in Tybee and they take your temperature before entering. I tried the Bloody Mary and to me it was quite delicious - yes it's as big as you see in the other pics- I've attached a pic as well. My bf and I got the Po boy sandwich and was unfortunately very underwhelmed by it. The bread was very thick and dense and according to my bf needed to have shredded lettuce but it was made with romaine (?) lettuce - like one leaf of lettuce on the bread. The service was subpar. Even with half capacity, it took the waiter 30mins to come around to get our water/drink order and then another 30min to get our food order in. People who were sat after us got their food before us and not by choice. Our waiter just never came around to check on us to put it in. The restaurant as a whole was cute and had a gorgeous scenic view - I just hope the next time we go, we get another waiter. read more

So this was our third trip to A-J's. We had great experience before Covid hit. This time nothing was worth it. My shrimp and grits were so dry and tasteless. My husbands po boy was mediocre at best. The wings were OK. Calamari was nothing but to much bread any chewy. The best part of this place would be the sunsets on the dock. We drove an hour out of the way just to come back and eat here. Wife and I had the season salad with the peel and eat shrimp for dinner one night, next night wife had the shrimp fettuccine. Cheese was not cheesy. Not the best, stick to the seafood dishes. Typical beach fare with average fried seafood at high prices. Calamari, the fried fish, Cole slaw and the coconut shrimp was good but the sauce that came with the shrimp was incredibly sweet. Growing up in Maryland on Crab cakes, the Crab Burger was deep fried with mostly filler. It was hard to identify the lump crab meat and was inedible to me. My bad for ordering. The drinks were goodfrom the bar. The service was good and our server was attentive. read more

Best surprise of Tybee Island. We were astonished at how delicious every little thing tasted. The poboys - BEST ever. That's not an exaggeration. Best poboys I've ever had --and I'm pretty critical about poboys. The remoulade made the difference for the poboys and the fish sandwich, it's so good. Though the ratio of bread, shrimp size, spice.... So good. Service was super slow. We were seated quickly, but I mean -- it was not wildly busy, yet we waited a good 40 minutes for our food. However, the quality and quantity of food was sooooo good it made up for the wait. We also had lemon cake which was dreamy good. The view is lovely, one of the few in town. And my husband loves their shrimp. For that they get the two stars. But there was a roach in my salad. It took me a long time to write this review, but the server didn't have much to say about the ROACH other than taking it away and deducting it from our check. So I didn't assume anything was going to be done to make sure it didn't happen again. As much as my husband wants to go back, I don't think I'll ever be able to eat there again. read more

Made reservations for the patio but it was raining when we arrived so we quickly found seats at the bar. The bartenders catered more to the locals, and openly complained to each other about other staff members. They didn't ever smile and seemed like they couldn't wait to go home. Corvina was the best meal I've had on Tybee Island! So delicious! I loved everything about it from the blackened fish to the crab meat on top to the Cajun sauce to the very tasty and flavorful mashed potatoes and to the yummy broccoli. Food came out really fast and was great quality. My husband got the scored flounder and loved it just as much as I did my dish. The 6 layer cake was decadent and yummy as well! Josh could perhaps take the title of the most pleasant and accommodating restaurant staff in all of Tybee Island - at least that's how my wife and I recognize him here on our 5-day vacation. Not only were his recommendations spot-on, both of drink and food, but he cared to engage us in conversation whenever he wasn't too busy. After finding out we had planned an outing in a nearby city, he gave us the inside scoop of places there we had to check out, and we were blessed to have his service. Food was excellent. Scallop + gorgonzola app was yum, wife loved the Corvina, and the full flounder left me full and fulfilled. Props and gratitude to the chef(s) involved! read more

We were recommended to go here. We were told of a spectacular red snapper that we had to try. However, they didn't have the red snapper when we went. We tried the flounder. It was mealy. Soft even. The food was meh at best. The service was great. The ambience as good. It rained. We can't blame the restaurant for that. They did serve our pup on the patio with water and go out of their way to make us comfortable. Service was a 10/10. Food didn't rate for the cost per person. $135 bill with tip for three people was high for the food quality. Four stars is generous. read more

My son and I stopped by today for lunch. Because of the heat we wanted to eat inside but only seats at the bar were available. Turned out it was a great decision. Mindy, the bartender, was very friendly and very attentive. I wish ever person who deals with the public could be as nice as she was. My son had the fried oyster basket that came with Cole slaw and hush puppies. He had more than he could eat and said he really enjoyed it. I ordered the house salad with fried shrimp. It was so good! We had the best time having lunch at this place. I honestly wish I would of come here many years earlier. We came and had the best service from the hostess, bartender and waitress. I been coming to Tybee for 15 years now, and used to love the crab shack before it became touristy. This place reminded me of what that place used to feel like. Prices were reasonable at lunch when we came, drinks were delicious and the view and service were amazing! The parking lot is small but there was more parking around the corner on 14th st. If you happen to be in the area and want a casual place with good food and service and an amazing view, this is a great place to try. I will definitely be back again! read more

Well, I can't say if the food is good or not because 75 minutes after placing our order we were informed that they lost our order and no food was coming. We gave up and left. I was told this place was amazing. I've never been so disappointed before. Dried out mahi that was cold. Broccoli that was never cooked. The fries were cold and soggy. The crab cakes had giants chunks of celery in them that killed the flavor of the cake. The atmosphere was cool. But the food, overpriced and not even halfway decent. For $160 tab, I've never been so disappointed in my life with restaurant food. I will never recommend AJ's to anyone. read more

Sat outside by the water and it was a great time. Would recommend to ride a bike or walk bc the parking is limited to about 6 spots, including 1 handicapped. The staff takes your temperature and all wear masks. Masks are required, and I really appreciated this. They also use the QR code for menu. I had the combo lunch plate-- choose three. I had fried oysters, flounder, and chicken fingers. Plenty of food, super fresh and tasty, not heavy-handed on the breading. It comes with a choice of fries, hush puppies or potato salad and you can upgrade to fruit or sweet potato waffles fries. I had the basic fries. They're the breaded style, which aren't usually my favorite, but they were crispy and good. The rum punch cocktail was delicious. Highly recommend A.J.'s. Can't say enough. The staff was so kind and helpful. My sister and I came upon this restaurant well biking in Tybee Island. We love the idea of eating dinner on the water, so I went in to see if they had reservations for 4 tomorrow. They didn't really, but when the hostess learned it would be our last night in Tybee, she took me to see a smaller table that was slightly back from the water to see if that would be alright with us, which she didn't have to do. Our waitress was equally friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. We split a grilled scallop appetizer. I had the shrimp and grits and it was my favorite thing I ate during our week's stay in Tybee and Savannah. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. My friends were equally impressed with their meals. All the food was very good from the coleslaw to the fish and shrimp, all was great, and the crab cakes, well let add, were some of the best ever. Would give it five stars easily if only based on the food. The service brought down the experience though. Both our stops here have been the same. Appetizers and flavorful specialty drinks. The margarita is spot on and the passion rum hits the spot on a hot or rainy day. Ask to sit outside or on the covered porch. The feel of ocean air and the soaring seagulls add to the charm. The wait staff is very attentive and know the menu. The food is nothing to brag about. Greasy and lacking in flavor. Had the peel and eat shrimp(over cooked). Spinach and artichoke dip....flavorful but greasy fried flour tortillas to scoop it up with.
