Strolling down Española Way and leaving behind the buzz and typical tourist traps, there's a hidden corner waiting to be discovered, a place that, despite having been there for quite some time, remains a well-kept secret among locals who appreciate its unmistakable European charm. We're talking about the magnifique French gem: À la Folie Café. The setting radiates a bohemian Parisian spirit, with vintage posters, antique mirrors on the walls, and both café and bar-style seating. Its unpretentious and cozy decor reflects the welcoming, homey nature of the place, truly the essence of la vie parisienne. The bistro-style terrace, with its wicker chairs and wooden tables, invites both locals and visitors to linger and enjoy a peaceful afternoon, especially while the Miami summer weather allows. We visited early in the evening to catch their dinner menu, but you could still catch traces of the day's earlier offerings: the rich aroma of café crème, freshly baked croissants au beurre, and perhaps even a warm fruit tarte wafting in the air. Upon arrival, our friendly and charming waiter, welcomed us and led us to a quiet table in the floral side garden. The A La Folie Café is a casual French Bistro in Española Way, a popular whole street in South Beach that features different cuisines but largely dominated by Latin American Restaurants. The A La Folie Cafe Francais have the Soupe à l'oignon Gratinée - The classic French onion soup, a must have soup. They also offer crepes and light fare. My favorite is the Plateau Royale which is assorted cheeses and cold cuts, patés, tomatoes, salad, cornichons, raisins, walnuts and toasts. This authentic feeling French creperie and flavors is a hidden gem in this busy dinner neighborhood of Española Way. Bon appetit and check it out!

Cute little spot near the beach. I got a lemonade (more like lemon water but still good) and the croque monsieur. I enjoyed the sandwich which is essentially a ham and cheese. The service was super quick and it's a quaint little place.
If you don't read anything, just know the food is good. It's really good and makes me wish I lived in Miami and could come here more. HOWEVER, the service sucks. It fucking sucks and as someone who has been to Europe several times - I don't think it's fair to just brush it off as "cultural", because they could do better if they wanted to. It's dark. It's dim. It's dingy. And also, it's chaotic as fuck. We spotted them on a Saturday and they were packed. We were on a time crunch, so we decided we'd return Sunday. They were still really busy, but we really wanted crepes as we've been disappointed with the ones in our city so we still went for it. We didn't know whether to just sit or wait to be seated and there was no sign with instructions, so we just stood. The same server walked past us again and again and didn't even acknowledge us or try to stop when I said "excuse me". More than anything he just acted like we were in the way. More parties stood behind us and still, he didn't speak to anyone. It'd have taken 3 seconds for the server to say, "I'll be right with you." or "Seat yourselves." We were invisible for so long, that a woman standing with her children asked ME what to do... A whole different man came from behind the counter and told us to sit wherever. "You see a table, just grab it!" Ok, fine. The tables were not clean, but I'd already realized what it was going to be and didn't make a deal about about it. I saw another review saying the fresh squeezed orange juice was good and I had plans to order, but before I could, I overheard the server telling another customer they were out. Which was particularly hilarious because both of us were sitting where we could clearly see some carts full of oranges. Anyway, the crepes were delicious and the prices are amazing. My partner got the nutella with strawberries and banana and I got one that had butter, powdered sugar and vanilla ice cream. So good! If you've got an hour+ for a meal that takes 5 mins to eat - this is your place. If not, do yourself a favor and just don't go.
We've only had drinks and snacks at A La Folie Café, but it was a charming place both times we visited. It's maybe the most mellow place on Española Way; a real haven for someone trying to escape the overlapping beats of the tourist traps. There is a pleasant interior seating area, but the streetside tables are just lovely - a French cafe in the tropics! Servers have always been attentive and helpful . . . and, if you time it right, you can watch armies of cute kids being picked up from school by parents on foot, bikes and scooters.

Hands down my favorite restaurant. I haven't been to France yet but anyone if ever brought who has been, says it is authentic and takes them back there. Truly a hidden gem in south beach. So if you can't afford a trip there and you miss the foood, this may do the trick. It is a cozy space so don't plan to sit inside with a large party. They do have outdoor seating with umbrellas and a patio space. I haven't sat in the patio space myself but it does look very cute. Hands down my favorite thing to order is the almond croissant. Made in house fresh. It sells out quickly so you're lucky to try one if you get the chance. The almond filling is so rich and the breading almost melts as you pull it apart. So goood! I also love their coffee. The bowl of coffee is so charming but is indeed a bowl of coffee so too much for me but I can say I've tried lol Their iced cappuccino is pretty and very yummy. I have tried alot on their menu but this review features pictures of one of the EGGS dishes with smoked salmon and goat cheese. All of favorite things into one breakfast dish. There's lemon cooked with it so some acid to cut through the buttery salmon that is Devine. It is very hot dish so be sure to let it cool down with every bite as it maintains it temperature. And such great pricing for truly incredible food. You cannot go wrong here. It never disappoints.

We ordered a crepe each and decided to share a sweet crepe after. Crepes were good, sweet crepe though was an utter disappointment, starting with the fact that it wasn't sweet at all and had pieces of salty butter all over it (you can see it on the picture). I couldn't even eat it much. The cappuccino was good, the tea was brought in this weird looking bowl (disgusting). The service was good, but I felt like I was a bother to them gratuity is included automatically. Overall, I liked that they have a choice of buckwheat crepes and that they are on a picturesque street. That's it. Will I go again? I doubt. There are hundreds of French bakeries around.
Wanted to like this cafe, but unfortunately it didn't quite hit the mark. We reached the cafe at around 8:50a only to find out it opens at 9am. We seated ourselves while they got ready to open. The staff was attentive and got our orders promptly. I ordered extra hot moka which was lukewarm at best. My buckwheat crepe with ratatouille was alright. We also had an order of sunny side up eggs with potatoes which was again alright. The cheese tacked on the bread wasn't really my favorite and I discarded it. The chocolate croissant was good. We were seated outdoors and were exposed to second hand smoke from a neighboring table aside from not so enjoyable breakfast.

This was my first time having A La Folie in person. I ordered delivery a few years ago and have tried coming in on previous nights but it's been too busy and the customer service to get seating was off but I decided to give a shot this weekend. The weather was beautiful and I just wanted to sit outside and enjoy a hot beverage and a bite. It was in the middle of the day so it wasn't too busy. No one was sat in the tables outside and most tables were full inside (usually when it's busy both inside and outside are fully sat). We waited inside by the door to speak to the hostess or server. She was helping others but after that finished she didn't bother looking over. I approached her and asked if we could sit outside. She said yes and came by 5 minutes later with menus. After a few minutes she came by and asked if we were ready. We were nearly ready so I asked for two more minutes. About 12 minutes passed by and she was at the register and didn't come back out. J opened the door and signaled we were ready. She came outside a few minutes later. A bit rude but we ordered the ratatouille crepe, a hot chocolate and a mocha with rum. The drinks were brought out and they were cold. My hot chocolate was nearly empty. I asked if it could be remade. The mocha was also not good at all so it was exchanged for a latte.. that was also not good. The hot chocolate was okay. They advise that you need to add sugar as it's pure chocolate so I followed suit and it added a bit more flavor. The crepe was a good portion and pretty good flavor. It was odd the veggies were just cooked on top and made the crepe soggy as it was like a soup of vegetables. We added goat cheese and that was inside the crepe. The salad had a nice dressing on it. We wanted to get a sweet crepe as they looked tying but it took so long to order anything and no one ever came by to ask if we wanted something else. This spot has great decor, especially inside. Lots of art and signs reminiscent of France. The outside seating is very cute as well. I hope they get to work on their customer service was it's a big point at the restaurant.
Been gatekeeping this one. It's our brunch indulgence. Food is excellent. I've had almost everything on the menu and nothing has disappointed. Crepes are divine. Inside seating is cozy and transports you to a cafe in France. Outdoor area is great for groups. Service is good.

Only a half block from the busy restaurant row, but giving chill outdoor Parisian cafe vibes. While they're known for their crêpes, there is also a pretty comprehensive list of French classics. We ordered a bunch of smaller dishes to share and were quite full at the end! Soupe à l'Oignon Gratinée: Really great broth with chunks of caramelized onions. The cheese was plentiful and gooey. The bread wasn't toasted though and a bit thick, so that could have been improved. Escargots: A classic. Loaded with butter, garlic and herbs. Lots of bread offered on the side to soak up that goodness and enjoy a snail on top. Le Tartare de Bœuf: A huge portion! Though I prefer my tartare a little less minced and more like finely chopped. Good flavor though. The greens in the salad were a nice palate cleanser between bites. Gnocchi À La Juju: Shockingly better than Italian gnocchi. Each little gnocchi was nicely seared for a brown and somewhat firm exterior, with a good chewy pillow inside. The sauce was outstanding. Some cream and complex cheeses that are worthy of French culinary techniques. Tartiflette: More cheese and cream. This time with potatoes, onions and bacon. Kind of simple if you think about it, but with really complex tastes. read more

We had the foie gras, branzino, and a couple other things. Everything we ate was delicious and well prepared. The service was kind and efficient. The wine selection was good and very reasonably priced. We sat outside and it was beautiful and eclectic. read more
Cute little spot. Wouldn't be my first choice for brunch but you could definitely do worse. Service is a little slow and portions are a little small but food is pretty good. I had one of their egg dishes that came with tomato and rosemary. Enjoyed it, but left hungry after eating the small pot and two tiny slices of bread. More bread is a surcharge. My friend's coffee was very burnt. She was only able to finish half of it before she gave up. On the bright side, her dark chocolate crepe was good. If I were to come back, I would probably focus on the crepes. It seems like that's where they shine. read more

Food is good but the service is terrible! We waited 15 minutes to get our order in! Oh the waiter took my wife's order of crepes & crème brûlée .he left and put her order in! My son & I didn't order .he never came back ask us what we wanted .they brought my wife's food out .omg My wife ask waiter if we can order . My son order ham & cheese baguette! He ask me what I wanted and I said nothing ! Ofcourse the tables next to us came in after us and they were served before us ! They should get more help & pay attention to there customers more . read more

The "Habibi" sandwich was absolutely disgusting, tasted like dog food. The service was also terrible, we sat on the outside near the bar area. The only good thing we tried was the ratatouille. Honorable mention for the bug spray found on the bathroom floor read more
My friends suggested this place for our last day in Miami. The food is French cafe style, my husband had a cordon blue style savory crepe, and I had a croque madame sandwich. All was good, the croquet madame was on a baguette as opposed to a brioche, but it was good. The only critique is that the food for four people took 45 minutes and they brought my husband the wrong crepe initially. They quickly within 5 minutes rectified the crepe situation, but was unclear why it took so long to make the food the first time and only 5 minutes to fix it. Most of the servers also had a sort of "I can't be bothered attitude." Regardless, it's a quaint place and the food is good, worth a try regardless. read more
A quaint and small place, but definitely worth it when it's not too busy. I came here as recommended by a friend, and upon first glance the place was much smaller than expected, definitely not much room to sit inside. However, the food exceeded my expectations- I got a cappuccino and the tunisienne crepe. The crepe was incredibly delicious, with a creamy, tart filing with a delicious honey topping. I would definitely recommend this one! read more

This is a cute little cafe right off of Espanola Way. It is always packed but it's well worth it. I had the Impériale which was amazing. I definitely recommend it. The service was nothing special but the food makes up for it. read more
