We had the baked matcha cheesecake, iced matcha chai latte, and the iced matcha white mocha latte. The cheesecake was good the first bite, but as we kept eating it became TOO SWEET for our liking. The coffee ice cream on the other hand was better. The iced matcha white mocha latte tasted again, too sweet, and very ARTIFICIAL. The only acceptable item we had was the iced matcha chai latte. Wow! Looking at pics of the drinks in this cafe looks gorgeous and appealing. I wish I could have tried all of them. They have a drink that combines 3 of my favorite things in various coffee/tea shops - a good black tea, rose flavoring (I love floral drinks), and milk foam! Its a triple delicious threat! I wish I knew about this place sooner to have multiple visits before I left Philadelphia! I definitely would recommend. One downside and tip of advice, please add an accessible entrance please! This is such fun and charming cafe with very creative desserts. This is my first time coming across such creativity here in the states. Usually these type of desserts are found in Asia! Super points for all the creativity in their cake design and flavors. I was highly intrigued by the LINE friends dessert since I am such a huge fan!! The Sally cake is a passion fruit mousse with a mango yogurt cream Center. This combination sounded sooo good but it was wayyy too sweet!! The yogurt cream had more of a subtle tart and sweetness to it - which was just the perfect fluffy texture. However, the mango bits in the yogurt cream was the part that contributed to the overly sweet cake. I hope they can tone down the sweetness a bit. The Le Violet Cake was very intriguing as well. It's a black currant mousse with pistachio center. I highly enjoyed this dessert - great flavors! The pistachio center was almost ice cream like. The matcha chai latte was something new for me - it was nice and smooth and I could tell the matcha was decent quality. There also seemed like there were hints of ginger but I'm not sure. read more

This is the cutest place ever!!!! It's a cute bakery and coffee shop in the middle of Chinatown. I visited philly for a day and made sure I came here. When I lived here, I definitely did not take advantage of this place. I got the matcha mousse and it was SO delicious. A bit pricey at about 8 dollars but so worth it. It wasn't too sweet and had enough matcha flavor. It was sooo soft I could've eaten it in one bite. Note that there is a minimum credit card fee of 10 bucks. The other desserts and cakes look soooo good but too cute to eat!!! I want to also get the tiramisu in a potted plant next time. The matcha cheesecake looks bomb and these lychee dessert thing. If you don't like matcha (shame on you) but this is a good place to start liking it!!! Gotta get those antioxidants in with all that sugar to balance it out read more

Came here for some sweet and coffee.... i had the panna cotta it was too fluffy not thick enough maybe not enough gelatin...im not a big fan of matcha but i tried the tiramisu matcha so i give it it a try but i cant really judge but the ice cream that comes with was very nice. and my friend also had a matcha mille crepes i also tried it it was pretty good cause i tried it in other places before so i kind of like it cause it was not too strong. Our second visit here with my family, and just as excellent at the first. The desserts and drinks are not too sweet like so many bakeries. The desserts are all little works of art. The cherry blossom matcha iced drink is beautifully done, half green / half pink in the glass. My only disappointment was both times is they don't put the hot cherry blossom / matchta in a glass mug so you can see the layers as pictured in the menu. Just a minor thing, certainly did not detract from an overall fantastic cafe / coffee shop. read more

This place was awesome, definitely come here for a decadent treat. I am not a huge desert person but even so there was more than one menu item I wouldn't have minded trying. I went with the tangerine cheesecake because my first choice (blood-orange something or other) was sold out. The cheesecake was served in a white chocolate shell formed to look like a tangerine and was rich and delicious to the last bite. The mango ice cream on the side was on top of a bed of chocolate cookie crumbles that provided nice flavor and texture contrast to the cheesecake. I'm not sure what the brown and green cookie crumbles were supposed to represent, but they too were also delicious and added texture. The mango sauce drizzled on the plate was nectar of the gods. Service was also very attentive and friendly to the group I dined with. Philly is one of my favorite food cities and I only get a chance to visit once a year, so when I say I will be back on my next trip to Philly that is no small compliment. read more

This place reminds me of spot dessert bar in nyc...unfortunately not as good though :( we got the sizzling ice cream which is basically your choice of ice cream on top of a matcha brownie in a skillet with matcha cream poured over it. Definitely cool presentation and concept but not as great in my opinion in taste. I wish the brownie were more rich I guess, it just fell flat for me and the cream was kind of a flavor oddity. The matcha ice cream was pretty good though! My friend also got the orange cake once which is in the shape of an orange (!!) but apparently it didn't taste that good either (too tart). I think so far at least for these two desserts, the desserts are more about the looks than the taste..but I would be willing to give this place another chance because they have so many interesting options We also got the "womans dream" tea (a white tea with peach flavors) which was REALLY good actually. CALLING ALL MATCHA LOVERS: This is a Mecca for us. Matcha everything: milkshakes, cheesecakes, cake, cream, lattes. And best of all, the taste is authentic: dense, strong, savory, not completely drowned in sugar like in a Starbucks or equivalent. Cannot say enough good words about this place! I admit the prices are at the higher end for Chinatown, but it's definitely worth it (treat yourself!). My two personal favorite desserts are the matcha lava cake (with something like a raspberry ice cream) and the sizzling matcha brownie. Drinks are just as tasty - I love the matcha latte (I'm a huge matcha fan, if you couldn't tell). The sweets here are never too sweet (something that gets me at a lot of other dessert places). The flavors are great and pretty unique. Service has been consistently good for me. The biggest downside is that the place is small and tends to be quite popular, so sometimes it's hard to find seating, especially if you come with a larger group of more than 2-3. The cafe has a sit down option as well as to-go. The menu for the sit down options seem to differ a little from their to go menu. If you come here for the Paris Brest pastry, I'd say make sure to get there early as it seems to be a popular item to run out fast (I was unable to order mine). The rest of the desserts and pastries were adorable and the holiday theme was perfect for this season! I'd definitely recommend the Japanese fruit Mille crepe cake - it is sweet without being too much and the crème was light and airy. Didn't see the hype at all, the pastries/desserts are no where near stock...they barely have anything available! The famous teapot pastry is discontinued, they had one matcha cake which wasp more so a chocolate cake with some matcha in it, and the only drinks they have available are tea and house coffee. Everything else is discontinued or "broken". The employee there seems very disengaged as if she doesn't want to be there and doesn't like people. One of those dessert places where you can find unique desserts and they also have tons of green tea (matcha) selections. Looked at the menu and it seemed to have cold tea drinks, coffee, hot drinks, cakes, and icecream desserts. Went to this place after a meal nearby because I was thirsty and wanted to try their dessert. It was bit late, closer to when they were about to close. However, they still had decent amount of people inside. Not a large store so don't be surprised if you cannot find a table. I got lucky and found a two-seater. The staff told us that they can only serve the desserts you see in the cooler and they didn't have anything else. Again, probably because I went when it is about to close. Found some interesting looking desserts- like one that looks like a duck and a tangerine. So I decided to go with lychee mango tea and the tangerine/mandarin cheesecake with mango icecream. The tea came in a jar, which could be appealing to some people since it might be "cute". Cool concept, except they did not put enough sugar in the drink and they put way too much ice. You might want to note these things when you order the drink. Tasted a bit bland and possibly bitter to some people. The mandarin cheesecake on the other hand came out on a plate with bits and pieces of strawberry macaroon, some fruits, mango syrup in the shape of a heart, mango icecream over crushed oreos, and the mandarin cheesecake over some cracker that tasted like cereal. The mandarin cheesecake was interesting, however, the crust was hard and it tasted like blood orange cracker, while the cheesecake was a lot softer and had less tangy taste. In the middle of the cheesecake though, there's a orange jelly, which was interesting to find. Despite the aesthetically pleasing desserts, I cannot give more than 3 stars because the drink was not that good and the dessert does not taste that great. Also, the service isn't very good either as I had to constantly get their attention to order, ask for the check, etc. Would've given 4 stars if they only focused on these desserts and had better service. The drink can use improvement. Either way I would still recommend trying this place out for a dessert if you are in Philadelphia. read more

I didn't plan to review this place because my family and I visited after 10PM, got our food to go, and didn't eat our pastries until the following morning. It just didn't seem like fair conditions. But gosh, they proved me wrong. Even after all that, the food was beautiful and delicious. First of all, they GLUED our pastries down in our to go box. My husband accidentally turned the box over while carrying it, and so when I glumly opened the lid while expecting smushed desserts, I was thrilled to see the desserts were still in perfect condition. That kind of service and attention to detail is rare. We ordered three pastries -- brown bear, polar bear, and earl gray cyclone. Everything was excellent. I've been here before, and every time, I'm consistently shocked by how light, fresh, and flavorful the mousses taste. All of the desserts were amazing, but I was most impressed with the earl gray cyclone. Earl gray can be hard to extract, but they captured it beautifully. I absolutely love this place. It's a cute shop and there's almost always people inside eating. I highly recommend it. It's my FAVORITE patisserie. read more

Great crepe cake and a fantastic coffee. This was my first time in Philadelphia and my first stop. The crepe cake is layered to perfection with a light cream in between each layer. The gold flakes and blueberry make for a perfect presentation. Oh they are not done with the deliciousness because right next tot that delectable beauty is a perfect scoop of ice cream and tasty red drizzle. Pair that off with a macchiato made to die for and your in heaven. Went back to Philly just this place. Well done guys. Confession time: I have a sweet tooth. That said, I don't like overly sweet desserts. I don't like the cloying texture and taste of too much sugar; therefore, these delicacies were a matcha made in Heaven. $60 worth of deserts for 5 people. Worth it. Cute little cafe in the city, great for those wonderful photo opportunities if you're a tourist OR playing host. **ATMOSPHERE** I definitely enjoy the atmosphere in this cafe. Seats are limited if you're coming in large groups of people, but it's perfect for those one and one conversations and if you come earlier in the day it's a good place to maybe get some quiet studying. Night time there's a lot of people crowding the place and it could get loud depending on the people there. **SERVICE** Service is great and depends on the person serving you at the time. The latest visit we had a girl who was very attentive and noted everything down for us even though we were a pretty indecisive group. She was patient and left us to breathe while we tried to decide what we wanted. It was pretty late into the night, so I was really happy that she didn't try to rush us out and left us to talk and enjoy ourselves. One of the biggest plus for her was that most of us ordered drinks except for 1 person in the group and without asking she brought ice water for him. So A++ for her. Wished I took her name down for this review. **FOOD** As long as you like matcha/green tea this is a great place for you. Most of the things they have are matcha based with a few non-matcha items to order. Everything seems to be brought out fresh for us and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They also have a fantastic seasonal menu that I was lucky enough to try for the autumn. I fell in love with the Hazelnut Paris (forgot the rest of the name) really nutty flavor with a crunch due to the pralines in them. My go to favorite however is their Tea-ramisu, it has a lovely soft matcha flavored spongey cake in the box and your choice of ice cream to the side. **TIP** If you are ordering to go order at the cash register, if not and you want to sit in, just sit wherever works for you! They will come to you. Overall, you really can't go wrong with any choices here. I do recommend if it's hot that you try one of their citrusy matcha drinks, doesn't taste powerdry and has a fresh taste to it if you like tea/citrus taste. Not too odd of a flavor. read more
