I am currently fasting from meat and animal products and decided to give A Live Kitchen a try. I went on a Friday evening and it seemed pretty slow. Maybe one or two people inside. I walked in and was greeted immediately. However he did give me some time to look over the menu. I couldn't decide between the Rasta pasta and the Alfredo but went with the Rasta pasta (per cashier recommendation). The food stayed nice and hot on my 10 minute drive home. They give you A LOT of food. Enough for me to eat for lunch for about 3 days. The pasta was flavorful however I do wish there were just a little more vegetables and a little more jerk sauce through the noodles. My tidbit is I have never had jackfruit but this was pretty good for my first try. Once I wrapped my head around what it was and mixed it in through the noodles it tasted pretty good (they place the jackfruit directly on top of the pasta vs. dispersing it thru the pasta) But overall it was pretty good, large servings and friendly customer service. BLACK OWNED! I like the place. It has a nice vibe. It's a vegan restaurant, and I will be going back to try all the plates they have to offer here. We stopped in for a "Tasty Turmeric" smoothie, and my lady decided to try a Pizza Empanada. I must say, that was a very delicious appetizer. The "Spelt" flour dough is great with the homemade tomato sauce. Very tasty and fresh. I love the seating up front and the juice bar in the back. It looks like they have a small stage in the back for live performances. The chef can be viewed in a small glass kitchen that is visible from the front dining area. Had the buffalo cauliflower wrap and soup. Very tasty, fresh and decent fries that came with it! On the pricy side but on taste alone and easy to recommend vegan spot. Caribbean fare + Vegan how can you go wrong? Needed something to carry me over to later. I went to the back where take out is and ordered the jerk cauliflower wings. They took a loong to come out but I forgot about all of that after my first bite. It was crunchy and flavorful. Granted it didn't taste like jerk but still delish. The portion was just right for me. Recently discovered this restaurant during the pandemic and all I can say is that it has held me down! Firstly, I have a huge appreciation for an all vegan restaurant located in South Queens. We need more of these! Portions are always large. I'll start off by saying the empanadas are huge and yummy! They are quite bready, so make sure to order some sauce to accompany them. My go to is always the Broccoli Alfredo. It's quite tasty, however if you prefer a lot of salt, you can always add on your own. The Better Burger uses the Beyond patty. It's a great burger and comes with thin cut fries. The Curry Stew, is also a favorite in my household. The Ital Stew is mid, nothing really to write home about, however not bad. The last time I was there, we ordered the Cauliflower Wings in Jerk Sauce, and I must say they are delicious. My entire family was fighting over them. Will definitely make sure to order two in the future haha! Something to note, about 45mins-1hr before closing they stop answering the phones and the online ordering closes. If you're trying to get a last min order in, I suggest going in person. Overall great carrib vegan spot! 10/10 would recommend. read more

Came in here for Saturday brunch. I felt like service was a bit on the slow side but maybe I'm a little picky since I was a server for over 4 years. Anyways food was on point! And piping hot. No extra seasoning needed, there weren't any salt/peppers shakers on any tables in the front. I'm glad that the brunch menu had like 5 selections so easy breezy but reading the descriptions, most of the entrees had the same thing in them. For example the scrambled tofu. I took Uber out here just to try this place the reviews and pictures looked great and I was tired of the standard food around this area and being a Vegetarian this place looked quite promising. I got there and I asked to order to go....everyone there was friendly I met the owners who also offered me to taste the 2 soups they had for the day Red Lentil and Garden Vegetable...I was going to order the Red Lentil but the Garden Vegetable was really good so i got that. I ordered one Kale and Chickpea Empanada and my Entree was the Avocado BLT w/Fries...I know I shouldn't be getting fries...but I thought what the heck.... Overall the food was great the employees were really friendly.... I came in here because my daughter was under the weather and I was trying to find a good lentil soup. I haven't ordered from here in years and when I looked up lentil soup they popped up and decided to give it a try. Little did I know it was going to be for the worse. The young lady was laughing and giggling while on her phone. I asked for for cauliflower bites and the red lentil soup ( which was also supposed to be the soup of the day) She rung up my order and I was confused as why it was so high. I then asked her if the cauliflower bites don't come by itself and she said yes and she said is that what you wanted and I said yes. She then tried to persuade me that the fried rice is really good and her favorite but I insisted I just wanted the bites.The cook seemed very nonchalant as she said forget the fried rice and he proceeds to say well I made it anyway. She then says we'll I'm going to eat it regardless. Then a customer comes in looks at the food that was placed and goes up to look and breathe on the food. No one asked her to wait until they had her order ready. Then I come home open the soup and it's more broth than anything and undercooked chickpeas. Then the large soup is highly overpriced. My 1st time visiting NY and I was looking for a vegan option near my hotel. However, I wasted so much time trying to place an order online (at least a total of an hour) to support their business. The error message was related to the zip code of my card even though it was never asked. The only information I gave was my name, number, email, card number, expiration, and CVV. When I called for help, I had to call multiple times (about 5) to receive minimal help. They suggested I order thru UberEats and l could not request utensils, napkins nor condiments. I ordered banana pudding on UberEats, but I received a call shortly after because it didn't exist. Lastly, the food was not good. The fries were soggy and everything lacked seasoning. For example, a beyond burger at ANY spot is about $10-13. This place charges you $20. The "tuna salad" sandwhich taste disgusting, and for 2 slices of bread and their "tuna" they charge $12. I don't recommend this place to anyone living on an average budget or looking to try vegan items for the first time, it will disappoint you. Save your money and order elsewhere. read more

They switched to more of a fast food ambiance, where you order up front and there are a few flimsy chairs and tables. Fine, maybe the pandemic forced them to adapt plus takeout always seemed to be very popular. But most disappointing has been the change of food quality. It just doesn't hit the same as it used to and their selection has significantly decreased. No more gluten free options either, which used to be a big draw for me. The Jerk BBQ Bites are delicious!! I'm not a huge fan of cauliflower and when I say It doesn't taste like it's cauliflower.... like barely but you know it is by looking at it!!!! It was so good!!! Great spot in a neighborhood that needs vegan options. I've loved most of the items that I've tried and the service is always top notch. Big fan of the glowing detox juice, the sweet potato cheesecake and the general tso cauliflower wings. My boyfriend also raved on about the impossible burger and I enjoy the chickpea tuna melt.
