If you're looking for a place to try local inexpensive and very tasty vegan food, this is the place! My first time visiting and eating here after seeing it in my IG feed and it's in my neighborhood!! I often have to travel to Astoria, Flushing, or Manhattan to get a variety of vegan choices and often times there are places that offer vegan options then serve you salad or canned vegetables (Red Harlem). A Live kitchen was far from that! The dishes were creative, tasty and looked appealing without trying to mimic non vegan food. Our server was polite and our food came piping hot!! In response to the owner. The food was burnt. Period. You neglected to mention how bad the food was prepared. I would gladly pay for well prepared food. Why are you puzzled?? Look at your menu it clearly states "mushroom bacon" for the BTL wrap. Whether your food doesn't actually come from a bag. Who cares. You are missing the point and are in denial. So my 16 year old son says mom I am hungry and I haven't eaten all day. I say come with me on an errand and we'll see what is nearby. I already knew when I am in that side of town I am ordering from ALive Kitchen. I have eaten from there plenty times before. I say look up A live kitchen on you phone , call while I am driving and lets order from there. I say order the cauliflower bites and the tuna melt. Meanwhile, we finished our errand and I proceed to the restaurant ALive kitchen, parked in front of the restaurant, pick up my order, and head back to my car. As soon as I get in the car he says it smells good, and politely ask can I eat now? I say santize your hands and try the general tso l's bites. He starts eating and then started questioning how is this meaty and crunchy like chicken? And if I was sure this wasn't chicken? This was a learning experience for him. He was so impressed by the delciousness of the taste, texture and scent of the cauliflower he gave me a few bites and started to eat my tuna melt and one bite he was shocked again that this was vegan. I explained you don't have to eat meat to be satisfied. He agreed. I will bring back him back different meals from here! I give Five stars, it is clean, the staff is courteous, the price is doable, there is street parking, and the food is so flavorful these are all worthy as a notable vegan option in Laurelton Queens NY. The food is good. I order from them often. I love supporting a black business. I had two issues with them. The first time I stepped into the establishment...I wanted to place an order, this was during the height of covid so I made it my business to support...I wasn't greeted and I had to ask if someone could take my order a brother that was doing something else and clearly looked very busy stopped what he was doing to take our order...The woman behind the counter with long braids lacked customer service and couldn't bother to greet us and continued her conversation as if I was intruding...maybe she had a bad day but i definitely would think greeting a customer would be priority when someone enters your establishment during uncertain economic times. I placed my order and kept it moving. I also asked for additional sauce...another guy bagged up my order and he looked at me and said this sauce doesn't come with this order? That's not what you tell a customer...either you say, this will be an additional cost or sure, which sauce would you like? At the end of the day, the cost of sauce is nominal to how much someone will spend on food. Or charge people extra for additional sauce. Overall, I Definitely didn't appreciate her lack of acknowledgement. ..especially from one Queen to another...again, maybe she had a bad day. I didn't write them off. The second time I ordered from them...It was during the week in the afternoon. I placed my order with Uber eats and selected pick up. The app said the food would be ready within a certain time frame...when I went to pick it up...i had to wait an additional 25 mins. I was told to sit in the front of the establishment and that it would be brought to me. Again, during Covid...specifically wanted to support. On minute 26...I went to the back to ask if my order was ready because my total wait time was about 40 mins at this point including the time it took to order and drive there...so, I went to the back and my order was just sitting there. The woman (not the lady with the braids) stopped what she was doing to bag my order. Had I not said anything, the order she just placed would've been walking out and that would have looked bad on their part. Maybe they are short staffed? It just seems like they could do a little better on the business side. Why couldn't the chef in the back just bag the order? Why do I need to check if my order is ready after a 40 min total wait time? I love the food but the business aspect is a big turn off. Ordering off Uber eats seems to be the best option. Hopefully, these small instances can be corrected. I would pay extra for every sauce and dressing. read more

Such a gem. It is apparent that they are still working some things out. And one of the deficits of that was the lengthy wait time. The FOOD AND DRINKS!?!? Sooooooo GOOD!!! The FOOD AND DRINKS?!?! Ridiculously TASTY and healthy. I said it two different ways just to make sure you know. So damn good. The energy, charm and charisma of the staff made up for a lengthy wait time. Other aspects that make this beloved spot really dope is the ambiance, the music, the loving energy, and the GREAT amount of care and attention to detail they place into your order. What makes me say this? I explained to them that I am allergic to raw carrots. And the staff made a concerted effort to meticulously clean the machine to avoid allergic reactions to any remnants of carrot from previously made drinks. When they brought out my requested beverage, it truly sent from heaven. Take yo butt over to A Live Kitchen and paint their paws because these brother are working hard. I live right around the corner and though I believe this establishment is not situated in the best location, Queens of all places, it's good to have a vegan based restaurant to push the locals to eat not only healthier, but better. I ordered a burger with a side of fries, barely on the margin of pricey, along with Mac and cheese, a side of pinto bean soup, and a iced tea. Looking at the menu, despite how small it seems, is actually quite extensive. For once, I'm actually enjoying buying food in this area of queens. The setting is very modern and quiet, relaxing. Smells almost homely. Comfortable seating, and the sales clerk is very well mannered and willing to help. A good alternative to the deli next door that encourages greasy and junk foods. Upon viewing the vegan burger and fries, I was a bit hesitant, me being a pastrami and brisket man myself, but I was blown away. I just couldn't stop eating. Felt like I had starved myself all day. If not for my father calling me halfway through my burger, I probably would have finished in ten minutes flat and ordered another. The Mac and cheese was a refreshing taste, reminding me of my grandmothers cooking. The pinto bean soup warmed me up. This place has far exceeded my expectations, and likely as not I will be back. It has made me rethink my food choices and I think I'll also reevaluate my hatred for vegans. read more

I've been here on several occasions and have never been disappointed with my smoothies, juices, and food orders. However, I went back today (9/3/19) to order a Tropical Green juice and wasn't very happy. The juice didn't taste very good and was a lot smaller than normal. They only serve one size and the past times I've been there it's been a lot bigger. Unfortunately, today it looked like it was a value size or made for a kid's meal. Definitely not worth $7.62. I will definitely go back because their food is great and the staff is very nice, but I'm hoping that this was just an off-day. read more

The burgers were phenomenal! I also had the Caesar salad and apple cobbler. The juices were so good. This is a great establishment, overall. I had a pasta dish but I did not care for the taste of whole wheat pasta, albeit a healthier choice. I would suggest allowing the patron to choose the type of pasta and have the regular pasta there as an alternative. I highly recommend this place. read more

Please eat here! There are very few vegan establishments in Queens and A Live Kitchen is a welcome addition. My boyfriend and I have eaten here twice in the past week and each time the food and service were outstanding. So far we have enjoyed the cauliflower wings (in both the buffalo and General Tso's sauces), the empanadas (kale and chickpea is the best), the curry vedge and the broccoli alfredo. On our second trip, we took my little sister and our niece and they both enjoyed the house made burger and fries. If a restaurant can make children love vegan food, they're doing something right. Ask about their specials and desserts! The carrot cake will make you swoon! A Live Kitchen also offers gluten free options. I love gluten but it is nice to see a vegan restaurant take sensitivities into consideration when planning a menu. I was also impressed that the co-owners, Craig and Stefan, came over to greet us. They both are passionate and have expressed that they wanted to bring fresh, whole food based veganism to the neighborhood. It's nice to see young people fighting for our communities and our Earth.
