The food here was amazing. We had already been in Milan for a day prior to coming here and when I tell you that the food we had the first day was lackluster at best, I hope that seriously underscores how much was riding on our lunch experience at a'Mare. Thankfully, a'Mare did not disappoint. I love a good seafood pasta and they delivered!! They had this special - seafood carbonara - which was truly chef's kiss. The seafood was all cubed up into small pieces and the sauce was exquisite. We also ordered a pasta with mussels and that didn't disappoint either. The round of Aperol spritzes was also amazing but they offer a lot of wine as well (which probably would've paired equally well with the pasta, but my heart was set on Aperol spritzes for my Italy vacation). Service was good - bathrooms were clean but tiny and could be better in my opinion. You also have to pay upstairs at the register rather than at your table. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're close by and visiting the Duomo. It's approximately a 5 min walk away and worth it! read more

A' Mare - Pasta with clams and seafood carbonara. Aperol spritzes - Italian Near Me - Milan, Michigan

A'Mare is an Italian sea food restaurant located about 1/2 a mile from the Duomo in Milan. They serve incredibly fresh sea food in an up scale environment. Antipasta polpo (18€ = $20 USD) - The octopus was perfectly grilled and had a firm texture. It was a great appetizer to start the meal. Taglioni pistachio gambino 16€ = $17.50 USD) - This spaghetti type pasta was prepared al dente and served with a creamy pistachio sauce that paired well with fresh shrimp. Grigliata mista (26€ = $28.50 USD) - I enjoyed the variety of freshly grilled fish this dish had to offer which included salmon, shrimp, and white fish. Fritto calamari gambino verde (22€ = $24 USD) - This consisted of lightly fried calamari, shrimp, and julienned squash and zucchini. The vegetables were so addicting and I appreciated that everything was prepared in a light batter. Overall, I really enjoyed the sea food here and the variety of offerings. We came to celebrate my birthday on the day of... originally having dinner in Lake Como but we took an earlier train back to Milan. It was pouring in Lake Como... we were just grossed out. So made a ressie, and came to dinner... quiet, we got the first seating at 7pm. Ppl came after. We got a shrimp salad, 2 pasta and 1 fish to share. Way too much food already... lol. We did the pesto with shrimp and the clams with spaghetti... the pesto is a much yummier choice. The spaghetti with clams was not good... no flavor, clams were teeny tiny. The best dish tho, the grilled whole branzino! Yum!!! So good! Our waiter lifted and served the fish for us. (Well we are Chinese... we know how to eat the whole fish but didn't want to take his excitement away... he was so eager!). We enjoyed the salad very much! Great combo of sweet pear, toasty walnuts, fresh shrimp and fresh mozzarella. I did notice they are a bit under staffed... bc one waiter is definitely more experienced and the other is more like junior waiter. I'm sure Italy is facing the same service shortage as around the world... so would say give them a pass. We enjoyed our meal, wasn't rushed and would recommend for a tasty dinner! Ciao! read more

I am from Florida and approach all seafood restaurants with healthy skepticism, but I am very glad I tried A' Mare. The restaurant is immaculate, the waitstaff is professional and the food is simply amazing. Not only is it remarkably fresh (you can almost taste the ocean) but the chef adds interesting touches that are creative and pleasantly surprising. A special thanks to Owen who helped select wines that complemented each course perfectly. I can't wait to dine there again and would love a restaurant of this quality in Miami. read more

The worst restaurant experience I've ever had to the point where I cancelled my food and left the restaurant. I asked the server for a white wine recommendation. I like dry French whites. He recommended a Chardonnay. I thought it was like a typical Chardonnay that's buttery or oak flavored. I told him I don't like them but rather, I like dry. What else do you recommend? "Well there's X and Y, which is fruity. I don't like fruity because it can be sweet. Do you have any other recommendations? Well I don't know what you prefer so you pick." If I'm telling you what my preferences are (which are dry, not fruity/sweet and not Chardonnay which leaves like 6-8 choices left on the menu), how is that an appropriate response? I don't know anything about Italian wine. I thought I was doing the sensible thing by asking for advice. I was getting really annoyed. He came back with a tasting of one of his recommendations. I didn't like it. He brought two options (Chardonnay and another option). Unbeknownst to me, I tried the Chardonnay and thought it was better than the first but wasn't what I wanted. But his attitude was so rude that I just settled and didn't even try the third bottle. That was the icing on the cake. We paid for the wine, water and cancelled our food. They seemed to be swamped anyways so they hadn't even started preparing for it. read more

Found this place via tripadvisor. The servers speak very little English, but they had English menus available and were super friendly so there were zero issues. We came at 8 when it was quiet, but it got very busy as we were leaving at around 10pm. Bathe dining area is clean and the decor modern and cosy. We had the fried mixed seafood with calamari, shrimp and vegetables to start, which was excellent. The calamari was fresh and tender. For mains we got lobster linguini and the seafood risotto, both of which were very good, although the risotto was slightly salty. The service was excellent...they were around when needed and got out of the way when we were busy with our mains. We got dessert and limoncello on the house, which was great. Come on, Northern Italy is known for their fish so naturally we went for the mixed seafood grill (for 2). Great flavors in the seafood, very lightly seasoned so you could taste the freshness.Started with a couple house salads and the entreé satisfied us both. I am sorry, I read the other reviews and the food wasn't bad, but I don't think it was all that wonderful. Additionally, the waiter had attitude and was not helpful. When my food finally came it was moderately tasty, but no where near the best, and I didn't care for the presentation whatsoever. As an American, when I eat shrimp I don't expect to have to clean the shrimp unless I'm getting peel and eat, and even then, I don't expect the shrimp to be looking back at me. Portions were small. When it came time to consider dessert, I decided to cut bait. To add to the unpleasantness, the credit card machine wasn't working. If you want fish, fish somewhere else. read more
