I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. Everyone should be informed that they can be unresponsive to claims and as of January, they communicated to me that don't have the means to resolve claims. Don't know if that has changed because they won't respond to my emails. This is my experience with a move to Remember. I moved in September. They broke a vintage antique marble table. I filed a claim with them in the hopes of having them fix it, or financial compensation. A move to remember has been unresponsive in trying to resolve my claim.They took the broken table pieces after the move saying they would try to have it fixed. It is now April and I still do not have my table, any monetary compensation, and have not heard from the claims department or anyone from the company in over a THREE MONTHS. Since September, I have been going back and forth with this company trying to resolve this. It has been months of radio silence, then getting some communication emails, then more radio silence again for months. In one of our infrequent email discussions in January, they communicated that they are in deliberation trying to resolve some other issue and as a result of the deliberation and lost wages, the company was at the time, unable to resolve claims. They stated that they would circle back to my claim in March in hopes they could resolve it by then. This is despite us having a signed contract that stating claims will be resolved after 120 days, and as such should have been resolved in January. Hopeless to have it resolved at some point, I followed up with the company back in March multiple times to see if they had additional updates. It is now mid April and I have still not heard back regarding my claims status. The last communication I received from them was the end of January. No compensation, no communication, radio silence, and they won't even give me back the pieces of my table. They broke vintage antique furniture and ghosted me. It was a move to remember and not in a good way. Oh also day of the move they showed up with one fewer movers than I was quoted for, told me the move would take longer as a result of someone calling out, then it took hours longer than their updated longer timeline. I was the first time slot of the day and they showed up about 1-1.5 hrs late and the move went well into the evening. Additionally, they randomly had supervisors on site to monitor how things were going from a process perspective, but these supervisors weren't helping the movers that were obviously exhausted. So I was quoted 4 movers, 3 showed up, 2 supervisors show up to just watch, and the move took hours longer than anticipated. Supervisors started helping at the end but what a weird experience. If anyone at the company reads this, can someone actually help me with this claim? read more

Our move took over 6 1/2 hours, 2 trips, and in the middle of the move the movers ditched all of our boxes in the lobby of our building and went to the store for over 45 minutes. This was my first time hiring movers and I cannot possibly relay how amazing my experience was. The staff was very communicative in the weeks leading up to my move, they arrived on time, loaded & unloaded my belongings faster than anticipated. Samantha, Luis, & Angel were so kind, careful, and considerate. Feels weird to type out that I had a great time moving, but that was absolutely the case yesterday when A Move to Remember helped me move out of my shared two-bedroom into a 1BR yesterday. Trix (Team Lead) and their team (Leo and Jerry) were professional, personable, and went above and beyond during the move. Given that I was moving out of a place I had shared with two different roommates over the past 4 years, packing was an ordeal as I tried to figure out whose was what, what to keep, and what to toss. They were really diligent in making sure that only my selected items got moved and my roommate and I really appreciated that. What I was unable to get to the night before or fit into boxes, Trix and team provided large Amazon bins to transfer those items to the new apartment. With care, they wrapped my furniture, computer monitors, TV and even my Peloton. All are in perfect working order! Something about AMTR that is super helpful is that they will remove wall mounts from the walls. This was invaluable because I had a friend coming over to reinstall these mounts at my new apartment and it saved them from having to go to the old apartment to take down the mounts (saved me time and $ too)! To quote their website: "Think of it as if you had asked friends to help you move, but they had the skills to take half the time and do all the heavy lifting" AMTR absolutely lives by this code. We ordered a couch from EQ3 earlier this year, but it wasn't before loads of deliberation and anxiety of if it would fit our not. Before we even purchased, A Move to Remember took the time to view videos of our building to see if it would fit. This lead us to making a confident purchasing decision. Couches are so expensive and not always easy to move, having the expert input from AMTR was crucial. When it can to day of move, they arrived ahead of schedule and we're communicative along the way before their arrival. They surveyed they area, got the truck in position and we're on their way. The couch wouldn't fit in the elevator so the three person crew had to take the stairs. They had such a good attitude about it and I was super impressed with their communication and how they encouraged one another along the way. It was so kind Our couch is on the lighter side and our buildings always were a bit dusty so they paid special attention to ensure nothing rubbed onto the couch. When it was finally in place the evaluated the final product for any issues, snags, etc. and were on their way. We've had some not so great movers since coming to Chicago. In fact, every crew has managed to break something in transit, but not this one! I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be using them again! read more

As a neighbor of someone who used their service, they're incredibly inconsiderate about how to manage their truck in an alley. Incredibly rude and don't understand how the streets work (they told us to drive through a pedestrian mall???). Honestly, if they were more courteous we would have been more understanding but they blocked the whole alley with their truck and car when other moving companies don't block the whole alley. I was in contact with Leo to make sure all the details of the move were correct and then with Ty the day before/day of to coordinate logistics. I never felt in the dark or overlooked, and the team was respectful, professional, and friendly while handling our many, many, MANY things. This level of communication and customer-focused approach made us feel valued and important. 3. Our move was booked for later in the afternoon, so we knew other jobs would be before ours. We were informed well ahead of time that there would be a slight delay and the crew would be slightly later than we planned. It happens! But what makes AMTR customer-focused is that we were a) told hours ahead that there would be a delay and b) the team had already increased the number of movers for the first half of the move to keep on schedule. Everything was communicated clearly, and the entire process went smoothly. 4. This isn't necessarily part of the move, but I have to say that choosing a locally-owned company with strong values was important to me. Despite contacting me over seven times to check in about my move, I was blindsided with a new HIGHER quote two days before the move. I was originally quoted $750-900 and then received an email for $800-900. They told me the increase was due to the truck now coming from the northside location - so adding more miles onto the transit (btw, the southside location was less than a mile from my building). Even though I booked more than a month ahead of time, they said there was nothing that they could do except provide me with a visa gift card. Then, on moving day, only two out of the three guys showed up - no heads up from the company. The movers informed me that the company was short staffed. The only saving grace and reason I gave two stars was the actual movers were fantastic - helped assemble the bed and TV and worked incredibly hard. The team at AMTR rescued us from the worst moving experience of our life!! We moved from CO to Chicago and hired "professional movers" who turned out to be nothing more than professional scammers. After a week of hell, the other company finally got our stuff to the Chicagoland area and demanded an extortionate amount of money to complete the job. That's when we found AMTR through the suggestion of local friends and I am so thankful for them! With just a few hours notice, they met the other scam moving company at a truck stop and made sure each of our items were accounted for, loaded them onto their truck and got them safely to our home. This was my first time hiring movers as well so I was nervous about the whole process in general. Nick and the rest of the team made the whole process super easy and not stressful at all. Trix and Elliot made my move so much smoother after a mess of a morning with Uhaul. I ended up having to change my move time from 8 am to 2 pm, which was possible due to Trix's proactive planning with the other clients before hand knowing they were able to swap times with me. If it wasn't for Trix's flexibility, communication via texting and calls through out the day as other factors continued to try me, I may not have been able to get my stuff until next week. I wish I could recommend A Move To Remember. But there were several issues within this move that added extra stress onto the moving process for me. One was the truck was not big enough to fit all my belongings. The inventory I provided was correct - so I was pretty surprised they were dispatched with the smaller truck. I believe this caused the team to super pack the truck, stacking things on top of each other that shouldn't have been stacked. Some of our furniture was scratched, and while it's all cosmetic, that could have been avoided. The other was the 3rd team member being late. I think this caused the move to be longer than what it needed to be, on top of the team having to go back to pick up the remainder of our items that couldn't fit into the truck the first trip. Compared to my other experiences with prior moves in Chicago, with other moving companies, I can't confidently recommend A Move To Remember. I believe improvements can be made. read more

This is such a great moving company that I moved with them twice. The first time was an in-town move in Chicago. The second time was a long distance move of everything in my apartment and office (the latter was a second leg of the trip) from Chicago to Massachusetts. This was a rather complicated move. They were very clear and fair about rates and times and even suggested structuring the long distance move in a way that would save us money--which amounted to some seriously hard work on their part. I have noticed that other reviewers have mentioned that customers actually enjoyed the time spent with the moving team. I want to echo these statements: I had a great time with the whole team, both on the move out from Chicago and on the move into Massachusetts. They--Trix, Darius, Orlando--are all just really nice people who are enjoyable to spend time with and somehow keep a smile on their face and a sense of humor while doing some seriously tough physical labor.
