This company employs thieves. I didn't hire them to move me from Island Terrace Apartments to Lake Meadows Apartments on April 15, 2026. Saudia Dawson from URS moving services did. I had purchased boxes from Home Depot and I packed most of my own things with multiple sclerosis in a wheelchair. I noticed that my red leather car coat from Neiman Marcus costs $600 and my navy blue pants suit from Bloomingdales was missing it costs $400. They were in grey garment bags. There was no need to go through them and take anything out. I informed senior management at POAH/Island Terrace Apartments and I have not received a response. I am going to write Wolly Movers. Note - this experience is from a couple of years ago, but seems like an appropriate assessment based on some recent reviews I've seen. I used to use Wolley Movers exclusively given their reasonable rates and efficient work. However, when I used Wolley Movers for a move from an apartment to a condo downtown, the team moving a sofa into our new condo horribly scratched up the floor in multiple places. They were trying to force the sofa into the room, even though we told them if it didn't fit or look like it was going to fit, to dispose of the couch. It took months for someone to get back to me after I called to complain and request that Wolley cover the expenses in line with policy. Thankfully, management called and handled payment for the replacement floor, but only after I persistently called for some time. While the people are nice, I wouldn't recommend them go forward given the experience I had and my poor floors! read more

The move was very smooth, and everything arrived in great condition. Movers were friendly and efficient. My only issue was the final cost which ended up being over $200 more than the estimate. They showed up with an extra mover (scheduled 3 and they showed up with 4 guys) and told us we had to pay extra for his work. I'm a repeat customer, who scheduled a move on Saturday from 3604 S State Street to 1629 E 92nd Street, in Chicago. Prior to scheduling my move, I asked if the company moved stainless steel refrigerators and I was told yes. Upon arrival, the lead mover was very unpleasant and complained about several things, informing me that they wouldn't be able to move the refrigerator because it was connected to a water line. The water line was disconnected. Then, I was told that I would need to remove the doors and all of the trays. I asked for assistance, which was declined. For 30 minutes, I attempted to remove the doors, but was only able to take off one, while the movers sat in the truck wasting my time. Only to tell me that they needed to leave. I called the office to inform someone regarding this issue and she was dismissive of my complaints. Even though I was never told that the doors needed to be removed. In addition to this, there were several items that the lead man said I needed to move some of the items myself (the exact same items that have been moved by the company previously). I've had to pay for someone to remove the doors of the refrigerator, in addition to the extra days of being in the apartment, and when I called this morning to reschedule the move for the refrigerator, I was told it would cost $450, which is the minimum 3 hours! Turns out it all comes down to your crew leader. Today was the 4th or 5th time I have used Wolley, but it will be the last. I was recommending them to other people too, but I will start warning people away instead. I had crew leader Rob (who was fantastic), multiple years in a row including April 2020. At that time he came with a 3-man crew that helped me pack b/c I wasn't quite ready, plus disassembled and reassembled my bed. They moved lightning fast despite the pouring rain, and moved me down 1 flight of stairs and up 3 in just 3.5 hours. It cost about $400. After that I sang Wolley's praises to anyone who would listen to me. Flash forward to 2021. In the past year I have acquired a desk, a monitor, a printer, and a desk chair. That's about it. I was quoted a 3-man crew at 440. They sent a 4-man crew without telling me there would be a change, different crew leader this time. Whatever, they'll get it done faster, right? Nope. this time they were going down 3 flights instead of up, plus the extra guy. They did not help me pack. They did not put together my bed - just left it in pieces on my new bedroom's floor. They almost left my rugs and a bunch of other stuff in my old apartment but I called after them and asked them to come back for it. Still took 3.5 hours. Plus $30 for tape, even though I had a ton of it and asked them to use mine. Plus $30 for using a credit card to pay. $700 for a move that cost me $400 a year ago. Still giving them 2 stars because the 3 guys who were not the crew leader were pretty good and so far I haven't found anything broken. read more

I was moving from a third floor unit to a second floor unit about 5 minutes away. Wolley had the best quote of all the companies, so I went with them. Paid the $50 deposit on my card and was told that the balance (470) would need to be paid in cash to the mover (for 3 hours). Cool. Moving day arrives. They showed up on time, give or take 5 minutes. The crew supervisor comes upstairs and asks if I told the person on the phone if I was on the 3rd floor. I stated that I had. He walked around a little to assess what needed to be moved, then stated that he needed to change the quote to 4 hours. I asked him why when everything was already packed and ready to go. He really did not have an answer, so I told him to keep the original quote in place. He then stated that they had a 4th guy with them and I had the option of paying him at 160/hr or not, but if I didn't, they could not ensure how fast he would work. The man was obviously not a Wolley employee (no uniform). He looked like someone's uncle that needed few quick bucks. I told him that I would NOT be paying this man and that he could work as fast or slow as he wanted to, as long as the men I DID hire got things done within the 3 hour time frame. The man THEN says that they can't take certain things unless they are wrapped by them at $15/item. We're talking the main things I needed the movers for: the big a$$ tv and the couch. By this point, my attitude is fully in place because they think they're slick pulling this on the day of the move, so I told him to go ahead and do what they needed to do. I offered them ice cold liters of water (even the non-Wolley guy), and the crew sup said, "Take care of us, and we'll take care of you" (insert my side-eye). They could not figure out how to get the legs off my couch and that took up a chunk of time. Remember I said I moved 5 minutes away from my old place? It took them 20 minutes to get there. The sup wanted payment up front, then had nerve to inquire about a tip right then. I told him that I would tip at the end, depending on how fast they could unload that truck (we were maybe 1 1/2 hours in by now). These men started unloading and leaving boxes wherever they could get them out of their hands, even though I had someone directing them as to where the boxes should go. I was beyond through at this point and let my friend deal with them. They got it done in 3 hours, though. Reluctantly, I tipped them about $25 each (including the non-Wolley guy). It's a shame because my mom used them in the past, and they were great. I used them because of that experience. Never again. read more

We used Wolley movers this summer and were very pleased with the experience. They even arrived a bit early which was very exciting. Their team helped us move out very fast and efficiently, in fact it was much faster than any mover I had experienced before. They were very careful with our items and handled two apartments moving into one. They do only accept cash and was worth it all. I wanted to not write a review, because I hate writing negative reviews. But, there is nothing worse than being lied to. If you break something, you own up to it. The movers broke the leg off my dresser and proceeded to screw it in a random spot to cover their mistake. But it was obviously not secure because ended up falling over when I tried to push it against the wall. The legs broke off again. I was mortified because I kept Makeup in the bottom drawer of my dresser... CRUSHED blush and makeup everywhere. (All girls know this nightmare) - the crushed blush ended up all over my brand new carpet, leaving a nice pink stain. Needless to say.. I'm a little frustrated and upset about this. Everyone dreads moving. It's something you stress about weeks and days before the actual move. But the moment Eddie's team (w/ Eric & Chico) pulled up, to the moment they left, they worked and hustled nonstop. They completely put my mind at ease with all my things and took great care to be sure that everything was wrapped, secured, and boxed were tapped properly. It was a long day and a big move, so I ordered Jimmy John's for them and made them take a break for lunch after we left my former place. Well deserved as we were only 1/2way thru with my move. I was planning on tipping them each $20-$30 and if I was really satisfied $40 each. I'm so glad that ended up tipping them each $60 for their hard work and making it a smooth move for me. This was my first time using movers to help move and overall it was an okay experience. Stuff made it from old apartment to new apartment and no additional charges incurred from the initial estimate that was provided. Nothing was broken and the only thing I can't seem to find is my swifter duster stick. Anyways some things that bothered me about Wolley: -Denise was the rep that we were working with to coordinate all the details; moving cost estimates, proof of insurance to go to building management on both ends, and any necessary permits needed. She was a bit of a space case to deal with, and the fiancee needed to follow up with her several times to make sure she got the contact information after she had given her the information she needed verbally over the phone. -The movers kind of man handled my boxes. I felt like they could've used a bit more care and caution when moving stuff. But like I said nothing was broken so it's all good. Things that were good about Wolley: -Movers were efficient. I pretty much had all my stuffed shrink wrapped and boxed up already. So it was a fairly simple grab and go sort of move. The team of 3 movers finished in just under 2.5 hours which was perfect for my 3 hour moving time slot for my building. -On time. Got the call from doormen at 9:09am that the movers we're backing the truck up into the loading dock. Not bad for them saying they'd be there at 9am. I would've been a stickler if we had gone over my building's moving time limit though. All in all it cost me $450 altogether (moving cost + tip) to get all my stuff moved. I think it was a good value provided the fact I didn't have to do any heavy lifting and could just spend my energy on unpacking and organizing things at the new spot. Not much else I got on this one. This was a very hard review to write. I have used Wolley Movers for the last 5 moves I have done in the city of Chicago. I moved into my current condo and paid a little over $500 for my move. This time around, I was told that I had to have 4 movers, which was crazy. They informed me that I had to pay $160 an hour for the four men. When They arrived I was told that my move would take 5 hours, and I was quoted $1,116 for my move. I have never paid over $550 for a move, the only thing new I purchased was a sectional. I couldn't understand how it would cost more with more people, and more time than it did before. That was a huge issue. The office explained that it didn't matter how many times I had used them, these were their new prices. The workers were upset. They slammed furniture into my neighbors door, they moved slowly, and moved less than half of my things for $670. They broke my plant, and didn't even apologize. There wasn't much I could do being pregnant. The manager Jonathan was pretty rude. This was my second bad experience. The first one I took my review down because I was paid to do so. I had to call a friend that has a moving company to move the rest/ most of my furniture. I was very disappointed in this move. I will not be using them anymore. I have referred 12 friends to use them, and will have each of them discontinue use. This was the worst move of my life. Don't use them if you care about your money or things. I really should have looked into the negative reviews prior to hiring this company. I contacted this company for a move after. I found that the were both available on my date and a good price so I went ahead and booked it putting a 50 dollar deposit down. I was sent an estimate of 550 which would include 3 men for 3 hours including the travel time to my destination. Both on the estimate and on the conformation call I was told I would be able to use a credit card. The movers were scheduled to come between 1-3. I received a call shortly after 3 from the movers saying they would not be there for another hour due to the pervious move going long. A bit annoying but not a huge deal. Once they finally arrived around 4:10 the men came up to my unit. Immediately upon coming up they said that it would be an extra 130 dollar charge for the stairs in the lobby. I am on the 3rd floor my unit number is literally 3 and I have had other services come to deliver furniture that had a 3 floor only policy without issue. Since the were there already I just agreed. The main guy walked around looked at my stuff and said he was going to give me a new estimate. After a few minutes he said that the new amount would be 968, nearly double the original amount. I was shocked. I wanted to cancel but was informed I would be charged for 2 hours. At the same time he also said it would need to be cash only. This all felt like a scam. He said because he needed to wrap some items and make some boxes for the tvs, also he increased the time needed to 4 1/2 hours stating that because of the big move they just did they were really tired. I was pretty upset by the price being so much more and the payment needing to be cash only so I let my partner handle the movers while I called the company. The woman on the phone kept going back and forth between me and the main man on the job site. Between discussing the price with the man onsite and the woman on the phone this had all taken about an hour. During this time the guys were not working and I was still being charged. While I was on the phone the main man kept telling my partner that they could do it for cash and that he could drive him to a bank to get the cash out. Finally the woman on the phone and I agreed that the men would move the items that I wanted for the next hour and thirty minutes so I could keep the original estimate price. After I finished the call the men came back up with the few items that they had taken down in the beginning. They threw them down right inside my door and said they weren't going to do the job. I have never had an experience like this. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM, they will double there price once the arrive and demand cash. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I have no idea how they have so many positive reviews. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau so hopefully no one else has to go through this. read more

This is my third time using Wolley in the past four years. Each time I've gathered quotes, Wolley has been the least expensive, yet I've had excellent service. During this move, I worked with Alex and two other movers. They were efficient and helped me box loose items and wrap large pieces like my couch and TV. They were very careful with my things, even when it rained in the middle of the move. I moved from a one-bedroom apartment on the 8th floor (elevator building) to a one-bedroom in a 2-story walkup. The move was completed in 4.5 hours, longer than the 3 hours quoted because it rained, they said. I was originally quoted $520 but it increased to around $850 with the extra time and extra supplies. Downsides: -They arrived about an hour late. They gave me a call about 20 minutes before 9 am, the scheduled time, to say they'd arrive around 10. -It would've been nice they offered to wear masks, as I live in a building with lots of elderly folks. -The move was around 4.5 hours (9:45-2:15), but I was still charged for 5 hours. read more

The workers convinced us that we SHOULDNT book through the company and instead book with them directly. They were supposed to show up at 5:00 pm today. Never showed. Stopped answering phone calls and text messages. So unprofessional. These guys were the sweetest most hardworking men ever! They moved our two bedroom apartment, with A LOT of stuff that wasn't perfectly packed, in under two hours! They took our bed and table apart and put back together with no additional charge and in literal minutes. WOULD RECOMMEND 1000 times over!!!! Would trust them with my life! Also- not about the move but a testament to how sweet these guys were: there was a little baby squirrel that was injured because they saw it fall from the tree outside my apartment. UPDATE, 10/16/2018: I was contacted by Wolley Movers to resolve the claim regarding my TV -- I am happy to say the company (Wazeer, specifically) went above and beyond what they insurance policy allowed to resolve my claim. I still cannot and will not give 5 stars because while they did resolve my claim, working with the office staff was the most unprofessional encounter I've ever experienced as a consumer. INITIAL REVIEW: I've moved with Wolley Movers 3 times -- they have a very good moving crew. The guys are fast and attentive (Eddie's crew rock). BUUUUUUUT! During my last move, however, my 6 month old TV ended up cracked. I notified the company as soon as it was discovered and after much back and forth and no returned calls, I finally received a call from Denise, who is the most unprofessional, incompetent, secretary if you will that I've every worked with. She advised that their insurance only pays 30 cents per pound (be aware) for items and went on to tell me that I did not notify the company immediately and signed a waiver. I advised that the guys left my house with blankets still on the TV and they were notified of the damage upon discovery. Simply put, the crack is not that big of a deal. This review is more so aimed at the unprofessionalism of the office staff -- their unwillingness to communicate and lack of skill when it comes to conflict resolution has left me baffled. I literally had to advise Denise that I am not one that is easily intimidated and I do have an attorney...she proceeded to hang up the phone (also saw this in a review on yelp), but not before in so many words advising me to kick rocks (I'm of course paraphrasing!).
