I canceled my dog's boarding after an unprofessional experience with the manager on duty. During our tour, we clearly explained that our dog is aggressive, requires medication, and that we wanted the senior plan for extra enrichment. We were assured this was included. On the day of our trip, we were told these services were not included and would cost extra. When we called to clarify, the manager on duty was rude and condescending. She also refused to let us speak with another manager or provide information on when one would be available. Due to poor communication and lack of professionalism, we did not feel comfortable leaving our dog here. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We've been bringing our dog here for the board and stay while we go to visit family since 2021 and it started off great however with the new ownership things have gone extremely downhill. My dog used to love coming here, he would get so excited and not even tell us bye lol. But we've noticed the last 3 times, each time we brought him he refuses to go to the back unless I follow which was so strange because he used to sprint to the back. It felt unsettling, but he used to love this place so much so we just thought maybe he just doesn't want to leave us. After the transition of ownership during a 12 day stay the staff gave our dog HALF off his food. The policy is 1 bag per meal but for some reason they split each bag into two meals and he lost a noticeable amount of weight. The final straw was his most recent stay, we always pay for an exit bath because if you don't he reeks of dog urine (which was also questionable about how clean the place is) We scheduled a pick up for 10 am however we got a text almost an hour early saying he was ready. This time received him with multiple mats all over his body and not all of his nails were trimmed. Upon further inspection his ears were also not cleaned. This has never happened before- twice they didn't have him ready on time and there have been a handful of times where he's not dry 100% but we let that go since he has a double coat. I called to speak with a manager to see if they got a new groomer and she told me that brushing is not included with a bath but she tried and didn't have time to get to it. Not only did she lie to me because brush outs are 100% included but he was "done" one hour before his scheduled pick up! She offered me to bring him back for a discounted price but instead I asked for a refund. I was told they have to speak to ownership and get back to me. This was one December 23rd and it is now January 6th with 2 emails following up and we still haven't heard back from them. I had to cut out multiple mats from him that they caused during his blow dry. If you blow dry and brush him properly matting is never an issue. I brought my dog and my friend's dog to this facility as we went backpacking this weekend for my birthday. Let me tell you, when I got the dogs back they were never more excited to leave. First off, we were late, and paid a $48 late fee for both dogs which is fine. When we picked out dogs up, one was covered in CRUSTED dog feces on his back legs and we had just groomed him last week. Both of the dogs were so thirsty and downed bowls of water as soon as we offered it to them. Lastly, the dogs were both extremely exhausted, we asked for no all day play, as it would interfere with the dogs training and both don't do well, but completely disregarded this when we were late. When we decided to call the manager they said they had to have proof, we're we offered to take pictures and she declined. Following this she called the Owner, after speaking to the owner had said they could not refund us the cost of the bath because we "declined the exit bath" even though not a single employee had spoken to us about this, nor is it in the website. In addition, they did not believe us and the Manager Ellis had said that she had personally checked the dog and said he "looked fine" insinuating that maybe what we were saying was false. Do not go here, go across the street to Wag Hotel. Update (Evening of pickup): I was only trying to understand why I had to pay over $230 for my dogs to stay 48 hours (including one of which being very sick in the previous months) were released with feces on there hind legs, with it crusted on there indicating it had been there for a while. I wanted to ensure that my dog who i just groomed was now being forced to sit in poop at the kennel. The fact that you, instead of trying to make this right, go ahead and post a review response that's frankly insulting to the client and telling them they are lying is a huge eye-opener for your prospective clients knowing they don't have your support. In addition, you knew we were out of town so we wanted to board our dogs closer to our trip, why would we groom a dog twice especially if we had got it done the previous week. Very very disappointing. Update (09/27/2021): Both dogs are sick, vomiting & pooping liquid all day after pick-up. One has bruising all over (photos attached), the other we cannot tell due to the hair type/skin color, I am very disappointed with this place, their health and safety precautions are clearly not okay. I honestly don't usually take the time to update posts about businesses, but I decided to leave a post because A Pet Villa is definitely a wonderful place to leave your Fur Baby if you need boarding/grooming. When I was new to the Bay Area, I scoured for places to take my dog, I found places that were a little more affordable in the area, but A Pet Villa is almost down the street from my home, and very convenient as it is near an exit for the freeway. The staff is so sweet! I was nervous about bringing my pup becasue she was still so small at the time. She was greeted and treated so well, we have continued to keep bringing her a year after. We absolutely love their wonderful staff, and Malka (owner) is so sweet and friendly. And they have ALWAYS accomidated us if we needed our pup to stay an extra day if she's being boarded. I want to be as fair as possible given that our dogs were here just once for them to be evaluated and stayed for just half a day. However, we will not be returning. I'm quite sure this is a great place for many people and their dogs, but not for us and our 2 boxers. The positive: This place is clean and well-maintained (at least the front desk area; I was not offered a look around or a tour of where the dogs are actually kept). A little history: Our dogs have been to daycare regularly in the past and have been boarded before; however, the pandemic eventually put our favorite daycare out of business. So they have not been socialized these last several months as often as they had been before. As boxers, they are true to their breed and are very energetic and active. They absolutely love people and with dogs, they can be quite persistent at trying to initiate play and chasing and physical interactions, and they can play pretty rough sometimes! They can definitely be too much for some dogs. However, they have *never had any issues reported to us or that weren't manageable. (Especially after their initial excitement upon arrival wears off.) I scheduled their evals at APV and described my dogs' history (above) to the staff. When I picked them up later that day, the staff told me they did fine with the staff but unfortunately they were "aggressive" with the other dogs and had to be removed from the group and kenneled. (What?!) I was very surprised so naturally I inquired asking for more details. I asked how long they were with the dogs before they had to be kenneled; they were apparently only out with the dogs for "just a few minutes" before their behavior required them to be taken out. (No call from anyone, by the way; they just waited until I picked them up 4-5 hours later to tell me this). I was so shocked and this had me quite concerned that perhaps my dogs had somehow become "de-socialized" and would need re-socialization and training all over again, etc... But this morning I took them to another new daycare/boarding establishment for evals. I was very transparent about my recent experience at APV; I admitted that due to this I am worried they may not behave nicely with the other dogs and to please call me if there are any issues. They have been at this other place now for almost 5 hours. At drop-off they were hyper and super excited to be there. I received a message from the staff within their first 90 minutes of being there that they are both having a great first day. I took a peek just now on a live web-cam and they are strolling around and mingling appropriately with about 15 other dogs. My thought is that APV did not even give my dogs a fair chance to burn off their initial excitement, and just labeled them "aggressive" and kenneled them up after only a few minutes. Perhaps they misread their behavior as aggressive? Who knows, doesn't really matter but thought our experience would give insight to a similar dog parent with active (crazy!) boxers, or any other active dog(s) really. read more

Daycare Review- I started taking my 1yr old pittie here for daycare a couple months ago. (Don't worry, folks! He is the most gentle K9 soul I've ever known!! ) Mack Truck aka Macaroni was my first doggo to ever take to daycare. It's a family owned business & the owner is hands on. It has a comfy-feel. I like that. My big boy does the tippy-tap dance as soon as he gets out of the care because he's so excited! He's also super tired at the end of the day when I pick him up! (Yay!) I always give him a little extra for dinner on daycare days! (You should too! They've burned a lot of calories.) 1) They do a trial assessment free of charge to see how your doggo does. They provide a report for you at the end of those 4hrs. (They observe the dog's social behavior, aggression, interactions, reactions...) 2) It's super easy to make daycare reservations through their portal. Although daycare is not available on holidays or holiday weekends due to capacity limits reached by the doggos they're boarding. 3) Packages are super flexible & can be used for full day or half days. $150 for 5 full days or 10 half days. If paying per visit its $33/full day & $22/under 4hrs. 4) They have Instagram & Facebook where you can sometimes sneak a peak at your pup. (No camera for the big doggo area.) I am grateful for this little hidden gem. My big boy needs a lot of play & activity so they really help out on days when I cannot. read more

I really wanted to like this place. We just moved back to town from nevada where it is super dog friendly. This spot had good prices and was close to home. I dropped my goldendoodle off for a day of play when I was moving into my apartment. He is a year old and was well socialized. I have to say, the front desk staff was friendly, but I didn't like how I can't see the facility and they just take your pup and go behind the door and that's that until you pick up. I didn't think anything of his visit until he started being scared around men with hats. It could just be a coincidence or his age, but I took note.... fast forward a few weeks later, I wanted to get him groomed. and APV had grooming onsite. I made an appt, brought him in. This time, I met with the lady that was grooming and gave her a run down on what i wanted and then they disappeared into the back. When I brought him home, he had all these nicks on his skin from the clippers. My pup had 2 large mats that I pointed out. I wrote into the facility and they didn't take any responsibility for the nicks and blamed it as razor rash and the fact that he was "severely matted". Now, I am a hair stylist and I know what a cut is v a rash. My pup had to wear a cone for 7 days after his grooming appointment because they groomer didnt see he had his testicle sack still in place and mowed right over it and cut it pretty badly. My poor furbaby was licking like crazy, it was so swollen. I was really disappointed in the reply from management acting like it was my fault because he had 2 mats. The other nicks that were on his body were no where near the matting. How do you explain that? So ya, this place was really at my top of the list and I can see how they may remain in business seeing as there is very few places in the Sunnyvale area. I hope they can improve upon the processes. I might not be welcomed back after this review, but if i start seeing better reviews. I may try the day care again, but definitely not the groomer. read more

The staff is amazing and very friendly, the facility is very clean and always kept sanitary. This facility really seemed to be managed well until a few months ago. Beginning in January, my dogs would often come back with "extra" food and treats (even though I measure and prescribe their food in advance with labels). Upon returning from a trip in March, one of my dogs seemed to lose all interest in group play settings which was never an issue before. Also, both of my dogs came home vomiting and experiencing diarrhea (both are up to date on vaccinations). I called to ask if there were any incidents and I was quickly brushed off with no investigation or follow up. This recent experience is more of the same and I'm strongly considering boarding my dogs elsewhere at this point. I dropped my dogs off on a Friday morning, and the employee who helped me took them back by their leashes. I arrived to pick them up on a Monday morning and their leashes were nowhere to be found. After waiting for 20 minutes during the work day, I was told they can start a process to reimburse me for the missing leashes. As it was a work day I was pressed for time and asked if I could call to follow up on this process and was told yes. They did provide their basic slip leads for my large dogs in order for us to exit but this was obviously not a sustainable, long term resolution. A few hours later I called to follow up on the reimbursement process and I was told the staff was currently watching videotapes to make sure that they didn't not give me the leashes back (funny, there was no investigation for what may have happened to my dog while he was at the facility to have him lose all sense of group play). Also it seemed odd they would look into this so deeply as it was acknowledged by the staff member that she kept the leashes during drop off but they claimed to be investigating this to absolve themselves of what ultimately amounts to around $40 (less than what they charge for a night of boarding). I called because I left work to go to a pet store and was hoping to get clarity on this BEFORE buying new leashes. Another hour passes and I get a call from a manager saying they found the leashes and I can come and get them. As I live over 40 minutes from the facility, this isn't a quick trip and with gas prices what they are I was not going back to facility for leashes especially since I was told I would be reimbursed for replacements (and already purchased new leashes). The manager then goes on to tell me that it's not their responsibility for the leashes, but their representative took them and they were lost. Furthermore the solution of me driving unnecessarily after a reimbursement protocol was communicated seemed to be more of a waste of time than the issue had caused up to that point. I asked if I was still going to be reimbursed and was declined, being told that "we gave you leashes when you left" (referring to the basic slip leads that ARE NOT leashes), "we did what we had to do so it's up to you to come get it." I sure hope their management gets things back to how they were before this year started, because they are likely to lose clients with such poor service and a lack of understanding. I don't want to post a review of A Pet Villa because I want them to be my own secret! Alas, they are so fantastic I want to support them since they have supported my dog many many times. Boarding - We've kenneled our dog with them 10+ times, and never had an issue. In fact, if our dog could talk he would prefer A Pet Villa to our house. They know his name as soon as he bounces in the door and take wonderful care of him. Fantastic rates, fantastic availability (Sunday pick ups what?!) , very responsive on email and phone. Great location close to San Jose airport. Highly recommend! Grooming.-- They have now done three wonderful grooming for my dog. He is not the easiest to groom, and everytime he comes out looking (and smelling amazing). The best part is the team is really flexible and he gets groomed while he is boarding there. I boarded my cat with Pet Villa for a week over the Christmas Holiday and they were honestly fantastic from the first moment I contacted them. When I initially asked about an opening I mentioned that my cat gets stressed when he's alone too long and within 24 hours a had a personal email about how the cats all get time out of their cage and someone spends time with each cat daily. They were also cautious with COVID which was very appreciated, and flexible when I had to change the timeline of my cat's stay. Inside, the place is clean, cozy, and everyone was professional. On Christmas they even sent me a cute picture of my kitty with a festive hat on, which was very sweet! Overall, this place is great and I will definitely be going back. Took my two dogs here for a nail trim. I'm very picky about where I go and try to do as much research as possible when I trust anyone with my dogs. The business owner emailed with me and placed the appointment with one of their experienced groomers. This was a great match for my dog who has very long kwiks (from being a stray) and needs someone who knows what they are doing. The process was quick and priced fairly. I was pleasantly surprised that she was able to get my dogs nails so close without hitting any kwiks. I already have recommended to my mother who also has two dogs. read more

I have used A Pet Villa for my cat boarding needs. As a new cat mom, I was super nervous about leaving my kitty home while I was out of town. I cannot stress how amazing the staff and facilities at A Pet Villa is! The first time I dropped off my kitty was for 2 weeks when I left the country and when I came back, my kitty looked so relaxed. The staff took plenty of pictures and videos of her play time and said she settled in nicely. Twice, we've taken our dog here for grooming , and I'm sad to say I wouldn't recommend. We had previously been going to PetCo but wanted a more styled groom, our expectations were pretty moderate. After our first visit, we were thrilled. It looked like they really took the time to shape her face and body. I thought we found our long term place. After our second appointment, I was very disappointed. When I carried her to my car, my shirt was covered in her hair as if they hadn't blown off the hair after trimming. It looked as if they were rushed or something. Her eyes seemed un even, she was still damp on some places, it looks as if they didn't even brush her ears and I found a BALD spot. I called them to ask if they had switched groomers since my last appointment, but they hadn't. Will never leave my dog here again. We recently had to board our pup Jib for the weekend. This place was close to our house and had such great reviews so we made arrangements for our Jib to stay. He was there for two nights, suppose to be three but we were able to pick him up early. When we dropped him off the staff was not warm or overly friendly. The girl who came out to collect him was wearing a pair of dirty red sweat pants. Not professional at all. What really upset me was what we came home to. We picked Jib up a day early, we called ahead and let the staff know ahead of time, they were okay with that. They brought Jib out and he's covered in urine. Now Jib is an Australian Shepherd, he knows how to hold his bladder and can last about 10 hours, if he has to. So how long was he in that kennel before they let him out? He was suppose to get all day play but did he? And then they just leave him like that, urine coated fur. It's just awful. read more

Went there for a cat bath/grooming, which was scheduled over a week ago. Upon arrival on-time, the front desk was somewhat shocked that there was a cat bath appointed and she called in another worker and chatted with low voices so we did not hear anything. After that, she confirmed the appointment on her computer and said "They will try their best". This is already a big red flag for me, what do you mean by "trying your best" when you offer this service and we scheduled an appointment? It's as if I am a walk-in customer who was asking for some weird services. After picking up my Ragdoll, I immediately noticed that her hair is still half wet which might cause sneezing/cold. And upon reaching our house, I found out that her leg fur was not trimmed at all which should be a part of the service. Also, only two paws have the nails clipped? I paid full price + an 18% tip to have my cat half dried and half-groomed, really wish I checked before leaving so I can give a big fat zero. If you need to get any service done for your cat, DO NOT COME HERE. I took my cat tobi In for a nail trim because we're unable to cut his nails. We walked in and the place looks run down. That should've been our first sign. Where they keep the dogs looks sad ash too. They take my cat into a room and a couple minutes later they come back out saying they were unable to because hes feisty. Now why would they offer nail trimming if they can't do the job ? I'm so confused as to why a business would offer services they are unable to DO. I've been to a couple of other doodle groomers in the Bay area before I found this place. Fantastic Service by Alice! She is the best all around with customer service and her grooming service! She went above and beyond, She takes great direction on how you would like your dog to be cut and cuts the dog in the appropriate style for their breed instead of leaving the fur too long in certain places or cutting very short. Working with Alice is by far the best grooming experience I have had. The best doodle grooming specialist in the South Bay Area. She is very friendly, super sweet. I can't wait to bring my fluffy doodle boy back for his next grooming appointment. She made my buddy Rusty look amazing! Their price is definitely reasonable as well. read more

I have had nothing but positive experiences since I started taking my baby girl in August 2021 (she was 6 months old then). I now work in Santa Clara and was looking for daycare close by. I love that they offer PT care which is hard to find, especially at a reasonable cost. I toured Wag Hotel and didn't have any issue with them, I just thought a smaller facility would be best for my pup. A Pet Villa feels "homey". When I drop my girl off, she is always greeted warmly and the staff always seem happy to see her. I have read some of the negative reviews and have not experienced any of the issues stated. I have gotten my girls nails trimmed, bathed, and anal glands done and have never had an issue. We have not boarded her yet. Mom is not ready for that! :) There have been a few times I have picked her up and was told that she got scratched while playing with other pups. My girl can be a bit "much" and gets VERY excited so naturally other pups will need to set their boundaries with her. I was told immediately of the scratches and how they treated them. I also had an incident when I was not aware she had a cootie until the vet called me and she was already at daycare. I notified the staff immediately and they were very understanding and told me exactly where they needed to put my girl and why. I feel if you communicate with staff and establish an open and honest relationship...your pup will be just fine. Not discrediting the other comments, this has just been my experience. read more

This is long past due! A Pet Villa has been a life saver for me and my 80 pound rescue dog that I adopted in August 2021. We've used them for doggy daycare, bath and boarding and they've all been excellent. Staff are great, excellent communication, problem-solving and advice/assistance for me. My dog definitely has special needs with significant separation anxiety. They worked with him and me and did not turn us away. As they state, best way to communicate with them is via email. Malka, owner, has been very helpful via email. She's been responsive to my questions/concerns, shared her expertise with dogs, breeds, temperament and gave me advice on what to ask at the vet which was helpful. My dog runs into the daycare each morning and due to his separation anxiety issue, he goes to daycare every weekday so I can go to work. I'm confident he's in good hands here and I go to work without worries. He's tired when I pick him up which is key since he's a big dog with lots of energy. read more

I have used Pet Villa several times to board my two dogs and they have been great with them. I have a German Shepherd who tends to be really anxious when he's not with me, the staff at Pet Villa have been very patient with him. I love getting their daily updates with all the pictures. read more
