The repair person Jay was friendly, knowledgeable, courteous and professional. He checked the two problems, one with a broken connector between the dishwasher and its door, and a broken connection between the dishwasher and the counter under which it was installed. He ordered the parts needed and 3 days later called me first thing in the morning to see if I wanted him to come right away. He fixed the problems, checked and showed me the results and cleaned up afterward. I was so pleased with his work that I added him to my phone's contacts so I could call A Plus and ask for Jay for any future appliance issues. I rate him A Plus! read more

My 10+ year old Miele washer and dryer are used daily and have been very reliable, but one day it seemed like the dryer was finally ready to give up the ghost. It kept beeping and turning itself off. I checked the filter and vents, and everything was clear so I called A+, who had replaced the heating element for me a few years ago. Jay came and spent a good 2 hours trying to diagnose the problem. Not a common problem, it turned out, so a few days later both Jay and Emil returned to take the dryer apart, spent another few hours confirming that they had identified the issue correctly, and promptly fixed the dryer. All pricing for their services was quoted up front. They are very efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. I will definitely call again when I have an appliance problem. read more

I have a glass cooktop stove that cracked and needs a replacement top. I called to get a quote/estimate on replacing just the top. They refused to quote me anything as they have to come out to my home - AND CHARGE A $95.00 FEE, to tell me the top is cracked and needs to be replaced. Seriously...? I know it's cracked. I know it needs to be replaced. Why would I pay someone to come tell me something I already know? Bad business practice not sure how their work is as I refuse to pay someone to come out just to confirm what I already know. read more

Relevant to a post I made re: National Appliance in San Rafael, A Plus came to my rescue. After spending months trying to get my range top ignitor fixed with National (the parts department person actually called me to tell me the faulty part they had installed was not the problem....before the technician came out so weird!). Anyway, A Plus was quick and courteous: came out the next day, replaced the faulty part with one that has worked perfectly. Just had a visit from Jawad, who diagnosed the issue with my 7 year-old LG refrigerator ice maker setup and explained my options (not great ones unless LG covers it) clearly. Refrigerators aren't what they used to be. Before he left, he also gave me a suggestion which got my dinosaur of a Thermador range back into operation! Dealing with Thermador techs had me shopping for a new range. That can now wait for induction range rebates to arrive in California! Will call A Plus first in the future, without fail. read more

Emil was great and got my stove fixed within the month (the delay was the part that was ordered due to COVID)! He was able to come on the same day he was contacted and the day the part arrived. He came prepared with a mask and noticed right away that our household was a no shoes in the house kind of place and respected that. Our 13 yo built in GE profile microwave stopped working. I called A plus and Emil promptly came out to evaluate. He's pleasant and knowledgeable. He disassembled the microwave and methodically checked various components and diagnosed and replaced a faulty door switch. He tested it and our microwave was up and running again ! Emile is probably the best appliance repair specialist in the Bay Area--and definitely Marin. He came by to help me get my sub-zero fridge working as the cool had dropped quite a bit in the fresh foods area and the freezer was starting to go just after he came to take a look. The fridge was a bit easier to identify, which was that it needed freon as it was low/empty. Fortunately, he has a license to do that and it fixed the issue. The freezer took a bit more time to identify, but he figured it out with his genius engineering skills, determining that the freezer was being pushed to defrost by the panel in the fridge section. Something that I can't imagine any other sub-zero repair expert to have identified. Not only was he able to resolve the issue, he was pleasant and the cost to get it fixed was almost the full price of repair teams like Box--who quoted me $299 just for a diagnosis! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This is the fourth time over several years I've had A Plus in to help me. The appliances are starting to wear out...This time it was my Fisher Paykel dishwasher leaking. They could have sold me on motors, lids, expensive repairs all of which I was expecting. I had a fantastic experience with A Plus Appliances. A terrible burning smell was coming from our dryer, but we had no idea why. We called A Plus appliances at 4:30pm on a Tuesday, and they were able to come to our home by 10am the next morning. Aziz kindly called on his way to give me a heads up on his timing. He was punctual and got right to work. He first checked all the electrical and gas components, and quickly identified the source of the burning smell - lint trapped in the underbelly of the dryer, which could ultimately lead to a massive fire if unchecked. He promptly cleaned out the area, and explained how to avoid the issue from happening again. I was sure we were going to have to replace the entire dryer system, however Aziz was able to fix the issue in a matter of minutes. They saved us hundreds of dollars, if not more! FIVE STARS!....and they didn't even need to repair anything! My LG fridge's compressor died today, and I asked for their help. Rather than taking my money, they pointed out that the compressor typically has a long warranty. Sure enough, I checked, and the compressor of my 7-year-old LG fridge has a *10 year* warranty, and therefore can be replaced for FREE! Thank God there are still honest and helpful people out there! So, I went ahead and asked A+ for help today, with some vague hope I might get reimbursed by LG later. The OWNER (Emil) of all three A+ Appliances businesses cancelled a less urgent dishwasher repair, drove to Berkeley to get the replacement linear compressor, drove back to Mill Valley, and just now finished the 2-hour installation! My fairly new Miele dryer just stopped getting hot. It worked and seemed fine but refused to heat up the wet clothes. I called A+ and they made an appointment within a short amount of time. Emil, the owner showed up and began to study the problem. He logically deduced that the machine should be working and found a hidden error message. Something was blocking the air flow of the heat pump system! After checking everywhere, he finally prayed off a plastic air intake spot in the front of the machine and low and behold, the filter screen was covered with lint. There were no instructions from Miele to clean that area that was super tough to access. After a heat pump engineering lesson, he left with a confident grin. "You're machine will work now! Our dryer, which has been in our house for longer than we have (more than13 years, and is a type no longer on the market) began to make awful sounds. We looked at options & reviews and called A Plus. We had Jawad out to take a look the very next morning. He figured out the problem, told us what the part would cost and what his additional labor would be (there is a charge to come out & look, but it is subtracted from any work you have them do - this was all explained clearly to me before I made the appointment). Jawad texted me as things moved along. As soon as he had the part, we set up a time & he came out & fixed it. All went exactly as he had said it would, and he was cheerful, pleasant, and competent. The dryer is practically silent now. He also tested the heating just in case before he left. And he asked for a vacuum to clean up all the fluff the dryer had left since it had had the problem.
