I was initially very impressed with this company, but I learned that they misdiagnosed the problem after I had another company come out and fix the problem. Appliance King didn't do any diagnostics and said I needed to recharge the gas. The real problem turned out to be that the defroster wasn't working. Marco is the man! After making multiple calls to other appliance repair companies regarding my GE vent hood, and not getting any response, I finally came accross Appliance King. I was able to easily make an appointment on the website and Marco showed up on time, diagnosed the issue quickly, and also helped me find the part on eBay which was 40% less than the retail price! When Marco came back to install the new motor after it was delivered, it only took him about 15 minutes and the installation fee reflected that. Our gas cook top was not lighting properly, and Marco came out to repair the problem. He worked on the faulty burners and restored them in short order. Then he asked if there was anything else he could do - and he figured out why my dishwasher wasn't draining at the end of the cycle and fixed it in no time. This place is beyond reproach, Appliance King? What a joke! Someone came out to install our brand new dishwasher, this is where the nightmare begins. Dude shows up wearing all white sports clothes and white sneakers, hardly looked as though he'd get down and install our dishwasher for fear of messing up his pristine ensemble. Also, he could not find his tools and was accusing my husband of taking them. What the freaking hell!?!? It gets worse! So, he leaves. Dishwasher is leaking everywhere! We call back. His mom answers. Sends him back next day. He says those pipes aren't up to code, that's why it's leaking. So, that has me thinking, "why on earth would you not tell us this when you were installing the dishwasher yesterday?" So, my husband asks, hey did you use Teflon tape? Reply: " I dunno know man!" So, the real professional we called because we can not deal with the unprofessional sophomoric behavior of "Appliance King" came and simply by looking noticed that THE KING did not use a rubber gasket. So it wouldn't even have mattered after his half hearted attempt to tighten it with or without Teflon. It would continue leaking until the gasket he neglected to place was inserted. NOW, our entire kitchen is flooded and we have to replace the flooring. Thanks your majesty for the worst ever craftsmanship, customer service and overall attitude! read more

We had a Thermador Range Hood that needed repair and could no longer be replaced. Local electricians wouldn't touch it and other Marin County appliance shops wouldn't come "over the hill" to Bolinas to look at it. Marco is truly the "Appliance King." The parts we needed from Thermador were no longer available, so Marco actually rebuilt the range hood for us. You'd be in very good hands with this Appliance King! read more

We have had the flap on our door ice / water dispenser not completely close and it was replaced a year or so ago. It failed again and I did not want to call the same company so we tried Appliance King. (Due to Yelp reviews) The fellow came out, we showed him the issue and pointed out our concern that the motor was making a lot of noise and asked him to also Check it. He said that to motor would make some specific beeping sounds if it was ready to fail. That sounded weird but, ok... He charged his service fee, said he would order the flap and left. A few weeks later, we realized we hadn't heard from the company. A few unanswered phone messages later I started to worry this was not a reputable company. Finally I got through to a person, she had to research where our part was and finally got back to me. The technician came out, didn't know how much to charge us for the part, had my husband look up the part online and charged us the amount found. He replaced the flap. Again we voiced our concern regarding the noise. According to him, not to worry. Charged is his labor & part fee and left. Next day our refrigerator completely died. Called a different company and found out the following from their technician - todays appliances have computer motherboards. Companies do not have to manufacture the replacement part after 7 years. My fridge is 10 years old. Appliance companies make these motherboards available to repair companies. The new company had this board and replaced it. The flap not closing correctly is a sign that the motherboard is not sending the information properly to the flap. An experienced company should know this information. So either the technician / owner (?) of appliance king is not experienced or did not have access to the correct part, so just performed a service that was not necessary for his fee. A Good thing to know..., since I also have a very nice drop down exhaust fan that does not work properly also because the motherboard is no longer available..., if your appliance is coming up on its 7th Birthday, you may not be able to access the part that makes it work. Check with a reputable company or the manufacturer. Once my fridge was working again I called Appliance King, explained what happened, the woman on the phone was defensive and made excuses for the technician. I said I understand you may have a vested interest in defending this person but he charged us for services not needed, did not perform a specifically requested service that led to the failure of our appliance, the loss of all of our food, which had been freshly restocked, and multiple days without a refrigerator while securing a new repair company to to come 1 day to determine solution and return another day to repair. She had no solutions only arguments. I suggested she discuss with the owner and get back to me with any suggestions for making this right. A few days later I received a phone call from them, I was unable to answer and they left no voicemail. I'm still waiting for a response. read more

I met Marco today in a rather magical moment. I tried my usual appliance store but they were all booked up for weeks. My dryer was broken and my clothes couldn't wait weeks. They gave me the name of three companies. I called the first two and got voice mail. I left messages, but wasn't too hopeful. Then I tried the third. The man on the other line said, "Hey, this is Marco." I was overjoyed. A real life person. "Marco," I said. I need your help." "Where are you?" He asked. I told him and he said he was 11 minutes away and would come right over. He was luckily between appointments. It was kismet. He came, he solved the problem and gave me some good advice as well. This guy is on the "A" list. My 25 year old Maytag workhorse washer stopped working. I asked both my sister and a friend for a local appliance-repair recommendation, and both mentioned Marco. I knew he was good when I tried to make an online appt and saw that I had to wait 10 days to book, but I decided to wait it out since I received two good recommendations. He came yesterday to make the repair. Marco is a one-man business, knows what he's doing, and is fast, efficient, and fair. He also explained why this washer has lasted so long, and advised me not to give it up for a new one with electronic parts and a plastic drum. Really, a broken kitchen appliance never occurs at a convenient time, so after a slew of four letter expletives directed at the microwave that wan't at all like what I saw on Youtube do it yourself videos, I called Marco at Appliance King. It took two calls back to back before he answered, but he agreed to make me his next stop after dealing with his current job. Sure enough, he calls to let me know he's on the way. It clear, Marco knows appliances and it's also clear that there would be no way I could have remedied this fix myself. In this time of COVID, he was gloved and masked without any issues. I watched for a bit and then realized that no technician works faster or better with the homeowner hovering at the 6 foot social distancing, so I left him to just do the work. The solid thud of the microwave door closing indicated to me the job was finished and everything was fixed. The charge was both fair and reasonable and there's a certain satisfaction to see a skilled technician do the job and fix what's broken. Hell, yes! I'd call him again, and you should too. read more

Fortunately the the problem turned out be a disconnected washer drain hose which he fixed quickly. Marco was pleasant and competent. His prompt service within a few hours was greatly appreciated. Marco at Appliance King was great. He was very good at communicating times and returning voicemails. Below are four tips he gave me on how to avoid needing to call for repair. That takes a very honest repair person! They had to order a part so Marco came out twice. The first time he was exactly on time, called before, and got straight to work. He diagnosed our dishwasher and oven issues very quickly and showed me what was wrong and why we needed new parts. Then he offered up advice on how to maintain a dishwasher by running a cycle with vinegar and how to avoid damage to the thermometer in the oven by starting it open. When he came out a few days later to install the parts he called ahead and offered to come early. He quickly installed the parts, made sure all of the problems were solved and then offered even more free advice. If the refrigerator isn't staying cold pull it out to clean the filter/behind the unit and if your gas stove top isn't lighting up after getting wet it can take up to two weeks for the ignitor to start again. Be sure to call up Appliance King if you want fast knowledgeable service at a great price. Before you call anyone, make sure you tried the tips above. read more

I recently inherited a really nice Bosch washer and dryer from my parents. When I hooked up the dryer at my house it didn't work. I was really pissed and my wife was freaking out. Our old washer and dryer was broken and our "new" one wasn't working, so we called Appliance King. Marco showed up on time and was able to fix the dryer in no time flat. Tried this place on recommendation from Yelp, was not nearly as happy as I could have been with the overall experience. Primary concern: the office staff. Called at the end of a week to get an appointment for the next week, had to repeat information multiple times to be understood by the lady on the other end of the line. I was reassured I'd get a call back from the service department to clarify what service call was about before the visit the following week...never received a call back. Was given a time slot by the lady in the office ("morning" which I had to ask to be clarified into real time, 9-noon). Fast forward to day of call. Waited from 9 on, service call did not happen. Tried to call the office at 11 to make sure it was going to happen, received only a busy signal. Tried to call again a few minutes later, same thing. Called over a dozen times between 11:15 and 12:30 only to be met with the same anachronistic signal (who doesn't have call waiting?). Gave up and went to get coffee. ...only to receive a call from the service guy at about 1pm. Rushed back to the house - service call was quick and professional, the field staff knowledgeable, the problem quickly fixed. Four stars for service, zero stars for office staff. Absolutely awesome service! Our icemaker stopped making ice and you know how that is! What a hassle buying ice every week! We tried to fix it on our own and when we realized we weren't DIY people, we called appliance king and Marco came over and he was absolutely the best.
