We recently had an issue with our dishwasher. After reading a few reviews, I reached out to a couple of businesses. Mikhail at MC Appliance Repair replied the quickest and was able to come out the next day! After spending an over an hour trying to determine the issue with our dishwasher, he suspected that it might be an issue with the pump. He orders the pump, comes back in 3 days with the new pump, installs it and then determines that the issue was not the pump at all but was due to a leak from our main faucet that was causing the sensor on the dishwasher to think that it was leaking! After all of that, including the 2 visits, he wasn't going to charge us anything!!! I gave him some money because he deserved something for his time! But I couldn't believe that he wasn't going to charge my anything! In this day and age when everyone is trying to nickel and dime you to death and/or overcharge you for simply coming out to check on a problem, I found Mikhail to be a breath of fresh air! I subsequently hired him to fix a separate issue with our ice maker. And he of course fixed that quickly and at a reasonable rate! Would highly recommend! read more

You'll learn a few things in this review: #1 - Never use the "self cleaning" feature on your oven. #2 - If you already did, and the excessive heat has blown out some small part hidden behind your oven, don't just assume you need a whole new oven. Everything is disposable these days but it's not yet time to replace your oven. #3 - Call Mikhail, owner of MC Appliance Repair. He can diagnose and fix your oven (and probably any other large appliance that isn't operating as it should). I have a double oven so one non-working oven wasn't a deal-breaker but I missed broiling salmon while roasting brussels sprouts. I priced double ovens and learned not only are they expensive, but there's so many different sizes that replacing what I've got likely also requires some costly carpentry work. It was easy to book an appointment with Mikhail. He arrived on time and readily diagnosed the problem. He stated a repair cost and said he could return as soon as he had the part (which was ordered that day). A couple days later he was back and my oven - both halves - are now working. And, he seconded the notion that one should never use the "self-cleaning" feature of an oven. MC Appliance Repair was neither cheap nor expensive but rather, far less than the cost of replacing my entire double oven. The cost of the visit is rolled into the overall estimate so, unless you fail to move forward with a repair, you're not being charged any additional amount. MC Appliance Repair operates in my neighborhood. The owner is smart, knowledgeable, timely, and gets things back to working as intended. Just knowing about Mikhail leave me feeling like my appliances - all of them - have a much longer shelf life than I'd otherwise assumed. read more

Yelp wants to put our inquiries in front of multiple advertisers; sometimes that's useful, sometimes not. I found it useful. Other repair services wanted $89-$109 to visit and provide a quote; Mikhail of MC Appliance Repair quoted a fixed price - initial visit PLUS repair, "whatever it took." I thought that the problem was the stove's igniter--I had had that component replaced once before--but AI advised that sometimes it could be other issues as well. My dishwasher was having problems draining and was also leaking water under my cabinets. I called Mikhail at 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon and he said he could be at my house at 5:30 that same day. The compressor failed on our LG refrigerator while we were out for the day. Mikhail was the only business who answered our call on Sun. night. He arrived early Mon. AM and diagnosed the problem. He knew the compressor would be covered by our 10yr warranty, so he arranged for LG to ship him a replacement. Meanwhile, he had one at his shop, so he came back at 7AM Tues morning and did the whole job in 3 hrs. Much of our food (except for meat) was saved using ice, and we had a cool refer by Tues evening. My refrigerator broke. It was like the guy knew what was wrong as soon as he saw it. Found the problem in about two minutes, maybe less. Came back at the end of the day with the part, very easy, take off a plastic cover, unplug the part, plug in the new part . Fixed it in about five minutes.
