Great ambiance and wonderful service. The food was awesome always good to take advantage of the Happy Hour and the menu selections

For brunch + cocktails A restaurant hits. Can't beat the location and ambiance. It's an easy place to order a bunch of different items to share. Service was solid and they have great bartenders. Squash blossoms are a must try.

Red patent leather booths - Super Old School

The "A" restaurant here in Newport Beach, CA started off in 1925 as The Archers then shortened the name to The A; and until today I never heard of it. But our dear "local" friends took us here tonight, and I'm sure glad they did! This old school, red patent leather booth - steakhouse is doing everything right when it comes to food, price, ambience and service. The A was shockingly packed on this Monday night and now I know why; it's just so damn good, I've been to steakhouse's all over the world that couldn't compare a lick to The A. Let me run-down what us six souls packed away: * Dry Gin Martini's that were picture perfect (see pix) * A Caesar Salad done so right, I didn't have to ask for extra anchovies * Our Bone-in Rib-eye steaks were sublime * The Mushroom and asparagus sides hit the spot * Our desserts were the best way to end this fantastic meal The atmosphere was kind of Musso and Frank(ish); and that's a glowing compliment. My wife and I go to a lot of restaurants. I I told her my law of averages when going out to eat: Two restaurants will be excellent six restaurants will be good to very good Two will be mediocre to poor Rarely do you get "Stellar"! The A this night was exactly that - Stellar!

We had a reservation so check in was smooth. Service is quick and our waiter was very well spoken which I appreciate. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The ambiance is more so on the darker/chill side. It would be great for a date night or out with friends. Parking is a little bit harder to find but they also have valet. On to the food, I find it quite subpar. It tastes the same as every other restaurant but it's still filling and good. The skirt steak is nice but you could easily make it at home. The same could be said with the vodka pasta as well. Drinks are tasty so that's a plus. Overall I would only come back if I needed somewhere special to go to.

This place came highly recommended to us from friends and it did not let us down. The ambiance is great. Lots of booths. Great people watching. Warm nice lighting. Old school wood decor. The service was great. We had a server, and someone to clear and set each course. They also had a really good sommelier to help us choose our wine. Tuesday is 1/2 price wine night. All the bottles are half off! (Excluding the few that are super rare and allocated) Important note: The bar gets PACKED! We came in right at opening and there were no seats. You have to get there about 20 minutes early to wait in line to get in and get a spot. We didn't know that and wish we would have. Also- they apparently have a founders room that you can rent out, and have a private dining area in its own building in the back of the parking lot. It looked like a great place for a party.

We attended a birthday dinner in the private dining area named the Owner's Lounge. The small building is completely separate from the restaurant, it feels like a cozy cabin which comfortably fit 15 guests and a DJ! I liked being in the private, intimate setting. The set up had a small DJ booth set up, TV, booth seats, chairs, 2 large tables, and small open space in between to mingle and dance! Valet parking is available for $9. The service was outstanding! The staff had to walk back and forth in the rain since the private room is separate. I cannot remember our servers name, but she really knows how to paint a picture of each menu item by her detailed description. Every single person was extremely satisfied with our delicious meals! I wish I could've had the mac and cheese all to myself! The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. There is no private restroom, so we would walk to the main restaurant for the restroom inside. The restaurant was extremely loud and busy with people waiting by the front door.

We love coming here, especially for drinks. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is beautiful too. I love that they have a fireplace for those chilly nights and sliding doors for those warms days. We usually come here for drinks and we love it.

Valet parking ($9.00) Reservations recommended. Ok for groups of maybe 8 or less. Did not see any kids. Small location, great service. Menu offered many options. Must try location if in the area.

A divine dining experience that is a must in Newport Beach at a historic location, dating back over a century. The Filet Miñon is a must. So are all the sides.

The wine list, by the glass

Well. I must say the food was good. Happy hour menu looked good. We all ordered wine by the glass, it was half off on Tuesday. i ordreed a glass of Kathryn Hall Cabernet, Napa 2022, I glanced at the price, saw 45. No, it was $145 a glass! The 1 looks like part of the lines in the menu! Take a look at wine menu, see what you think. This is quite deceptive, in my opinion, so half off, the glass was $67.50. It was great though but, looked like 45 to me! Finally adding on employee benefit to the bill really irks me! Seriously! Had I know I too would have asked for that to be removed. Not so sure I will return for those reasons!

Superb meal!! We had not been here in many years - was The Arches back then. Classic old steakhouse - great retro vibe. Service was excellent. Started with very good calamari and then a great Caesar salad. The steaks were the highlight - I had an amazing ribeye and the Mrs had a wonderful filet mignon. Pared with mushrooms and potato puree. Coconut sorbet for dessert. We brought our own wine and paid the $40 corkage fee. Steep, but still a good move I think. There is only valet parking there and it's $9. You can park in a nearby neighborhood if you want, but it's no fun walking uphill after dinner. Great job!

Came here for Valentine's day and had some amazing dishes. They had amazing steak and the yellowfin tuna was amazing. Ask your waiter for their recommendations! The environment is very classy and traditional. The steak was so buttery!

Came here for my husbands birthday and had a very nice experience. Super nice inside with amazing food. The steak and sides were all delicious. My only feedback is the asparagus was very large. Intimate setting but can be a louder environment. The staff were friendly and gave my husband a birthday desert with a hand written card.

It took a minute to locate the restaurant and figure out parking, but once we arrived at the door, the experience was first-class from beginning to end. The hostess was charming and welcoming, the staff kept our waters filled and the table spotless, and our server, Juan, was outstanding. His knowledge of the menu, detailed descriptions, and personal recommendations made ordering easy and built our anticipation for every dish. We started by sharing the beet salad and Chicken Tinga Empanadas with the Gringo Killer Sauce. The beet salad was fresh and beautifully balanced, while the empanadas were packed with rich, savory flavor. The Gringo Killer Sauce added a bold kick that made them especially memorable. My wife ordered the wedge salad, my daughter chose the Grilled Octopus Al Pastor, and I had the 8 oz Picanha special. Every dish was exceptional. The octopus was a creative and flavorful take on al pastor, and the Picanha special was perfectly cooked, tender and was an absolute standout. Everything was so impressive that I sent my compliments to the chef and was fortunate enough to meet Chef Jackie personally. Then came dessert. Juan described a peach cobbler special that immediately had my mouth watering, while my daughter ordered the Espresso Crème Brûlée. Juan returned to our table with three plates and spoons and informed me that Chef Jackie has recommended her specialty. I did not argue, Chef knows best. She surprised me by sending out something different: a slice of Baklava Cheesecake accompanied by a scoop of house-made peach cobbler ice cream. Now, I have eaten some outstanding cheesecakes all around the world, but this Baklava Cheesecake was on an entirely different level. It was rich, layered, perfectly textured and flaky, and so unbelievably delicious that I nearly licked the plate clean. The house-made peach cobbler ice cream was equally impressive--light and creamy, yet captured the full peach cobbler flavor. The Espresso Crème Brûlée was also beautifully executed, with a crisp caramelized sugar shell and a deep, smooth coffee-flavored custard. My daughter ate half of hers before turning her attention to the cheesecake, and she does not even like cheesecake. That alone should tell you how special it was. I live three hours away, but I will absolutely be making the drive back. Lemon & Thyme delivers exceptional food, thoughtful hospitality, creative dishes, and the kind of personal service that turns a meal into a lasting memory. This is my new favorite restaurant!!! Do yourself a favor and make the trip to Lemon & Thyme. Ask for Juan, trust Chef Jackie, and do not leave without desert. Chef Jackie, Juan and the rest of the staff, thank you for the amazing experience!!!

On the reservation request I had noted that we were celebrating our anniversary, so once we were seated they brought out a little "Happy Anniversary" card signed by the whole staff. It was a very thoughtful touch! We started by ordering a Summer Barrel Aged Cocktail to drink. It reminded me of an Old Fashioned. It was good!
