Went in May to get fitted and buy shoes to start my running journey and it wasn't such a good experience. I am regularly a size 8.5 and the employee said I should buy 8.5 shoes. Me not knowing that I should get 1/2-1 size bigger I agreed. After a couple months with these shoes they were HURTING my feet to where I was getting blisters. I don't understand why this store has an all sales final policy. I went to Road Runners and they were a much better help! They gave me the appropriate shoes and even custom feet insoles. I walked into The Snail's Pace, arriving 45 minutes before closing with only 1 employee on the floor already helping a customer. I pulled a number showing that I was next. I waited for 20+ minutes. Then someone else came in and a worker came from the back and began helping the customer. I got an employee's attention from the back, (not wanting to sound rude to the new customer) and explained to them I've been waiting... and now the store will be closing in less than 20 minutes. About the same time, additional workers came from the back preparing to close soon (emptying trash, straightening shelves, etc). So why weren't they out on the floor originally? With time running out... I had a few boxes of shoes put in front of me, and was told to try them on and to see how they feel. Then it was closing time. I just left without a purchase and a firm decision that I would never go back. My time is valuable, but obviously not to The Snail's Pace staff. The following day I went to Happy Feet in Anaheim Hills... customer service was great ... NO comparison to The Snails Pace!! read more

Although all of the sales staff has always been terrific, Jacob seems to be the most knowledgeable and helpful employee thus far. I have to say, my first experience here was not the greatest. I did come in about an hour before closing and the guy who helped seemed extremely uninterested to help me and made me feel very dumb whenever I would ask a question. I am big on second chances so I decided to come back and give it another try. I am so mad at myself for not remembering the names of the two gentlemen who helped me. They made sure I was taken care of, explained everything to me in depth, brought out plenty of shoes for me to try on. And ultimately helped me find the perfect everyday running shoe for me. I know for sure one of the guys helping me was a manager and the other was shadowing him. They both were very attentive and even stayed after closing for me which I appreciated. I walked into the store in Brea as a former high school collegiate and semi pro athlete now in my middle age doing CrossFit and really take my fitness and health seriously. I like the opposites of the store. Shoes are all displayed but with no price tag by assumption was that they wanted you to Ask for assistance and get the right shoe fit. I figured great! I'll be able to get something that's more particular to my running style however, after 20 minutes of waiting and standing around, no one ever came up to me. I looked around, and some of the staff were working with another customer, but never said anything to me. My take on this at first glance is that they have people over there that are also runners but runners don't always do a good job at Customer service lol my advice to them is hire someone to attend two people that are coming in and spending their very hard earned money on expensive shoes Because once you do that you'll have a customer for life, but I'm sure they are knowledgeable and have expertise so that is a plus, but I give them very low marks for Customer service and their ability to provide service to the average Joe. So as long as you have plenty of time to wait for someone to help you or go during the stores hours that are not busy You will be finding yourself having to wait. I was the only one in the store just standing around asking questions I had people even walking up to me saying what do I do? I let them know that maybe they should just try to either leave a note on the counter or maybe call them when they're available. A snails pace running store in Brea. He was very detailed in explaining what each thing meant & informing us about how our arches & stances were while walking/running. I'm gearing up for trail running and stopped by here to get some shoe recommendations. I had my feet measured by a machine and then was provided three different shoe recommendations which I found helpful (although I wish I also did a gait analysis). Got a pair of Brooks shoes and since they were last season's, they were on sale for $100. Note that you must take a number and will be helped in chronological order. Plenty of parking is available. They have two treadmills that you can use to test out the shoes. Overall, they are a shop that's super helpful and focused on helping your running experience improve. read more

A few short months over due but thanks to this place, I am now wearing the proper shoes and can run without any pain! All these years I thought I couldn't run because of body pain but it really was because I wasn't wearing the right shoes. They have a system where you step on (without your shoes) and it scans your feet. With the results, the sales associate will then bring out some recommended shoes for your feet. I have bought many different types of HOKAS but when I bought these for the first time at this store I couldn't believe how hard they felt on my feet. Amazing store so happy I found it! I showed up first thing this morning with a heel / Achilles problem and Mayah spent almost an hour helping me find the perfect shoes for my feet. She was thorough, honest, kind, and had a great sense of humor. She did not make me feel rushed and compared to the other running stores I've been to she wasn't pushy over a specific shoe that she was trying to sell. I told her what has worked for me in the past and things that I would like to change going forward and she helped me find the perfect fit. There were a few pair pairs of shoes that I tried on that were second runner ups, and she was able to add them to my notes in my profile which is an amazing option to have !! I have been placing a phone order for quite a while now and for them just to tell me that they are not able to take my order over the phone anymore due to Jerry sales Rep asking his Supervisor. It has been over a decade since I was last fitted for running shoes, and my body has changed considerably since then, and I suspected my stride as well. I had been through several fitness trends including Crossfit, POSE method and barefoot running, my joints were worse for it, and I haven't been able to run consistently as a result. Heavy lifting without accompanying cardio hasn't been good to me. After spending hundreds of dollars on different knee braces and destroying my stomach with NSAID's, I figured maybe it was time to revisit my choice in footwear. I looked up running stores and A Snail's Pace was nearby and had just what I was looking for: a full map of my foot, video of my stride, and knowledgeable staff to help me find just the right shoe for me. Denie ("like the restaurant") took great care of me. I came to find out that my feet had changed significantly, and I went from significantly underpronating to mildly overpronating and needed a well-cushioned shoe with a little support. After the tests, Denie brought out a few different sets for me to try. Honestly though, her first recommendation - a set of Brooks - was right on the money. I tied to talk myself into a couple other brands I was more familiar with, but the Brooks were just so comfortable that I kept coming back to them. They checked all the right boxes and my joints had no complaints! Ultimately, the shoes weren't cheap and not what i would have chosen on my own, but they were exactly what I needed. I rarely leave reviews but after visiting the store and having Bill help me out, I just had to leave one. I came into the store looking to buy some sandals to use at home and explore some options for shoes to deal with my plantar fasciitis. That was when Bill came up to me and went straight to work helping me. He explained all of the different type of supports and purpose that each sandal provided and answered some of my questions about sizing. I ended up getting a pair that he recommended. Afterwards, I explained to him I was also interested in shoes and once again he got to work right away explaining how they can find shoes that specifically fit to your needs using these feet modeling scanners. It measured things like the length, width, arch of my feet and heel pronation which was pretty cool and useful. He even had me jog in some neutral shoes and recorded it to analyze my running gait in slow motion to see if I need specialized support or features. It felt like I was on ESPN watching Bill analyze and describe my gait! Based on the machines results and Bills analyzation, Bill brought out 4 different shoes and had me try them all on to compare and told me some of the differences. I would strongly recommended this place to anyone looking for a shoe or sandal that's perfect for them. And if you don't know which one that is, ask for Bill. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the owner of the store given how much knowledge he had of various shoes and the assistance he provided for me! read more

Who knew shoe fitting was an actual thing..... I highly recommend you come here and get one. Especially, if you are just beginning to run or not. I leaned so much about my walk, my Pronation , correct size and width. The service from beginning to end was nothing less than exceptionally. The appointments was not rushed. I was listened to as I described my wants and needs. I ended up leaving with two different pairs of trainers as I could not choose which ones I liked better.
