I called the salon back a day later (bc they were closed) to get the lashes fixed. I requested another person. She removed most of the lashes but couldn't remove all of them and "fixed" my lashes. It's been 2 weeks and my lashes are starting to grow out and these lashes are falling out in clumps. Taking off a lot of my natural lashes. The salon said that there was "miscommunication" between me and my eyelash lady. I simply asked for a cat eye share and 11mm-15mm length lashes. I don't know what she did. It wasn't a cat eye shape, nor did it look good. She put the longest lengths in the middle of my eye. There was so much glue and the lashes were put it very messy. They were hurting my eyes. You can see in the pictures. I'm not sure who did my lashes first. I'm not going to drop any names. However, no customer should have to deal with this. I spent 2 hours the first time getting it done, then went back, got most of the lashes removed, & spent another 3 hours getting them to look decent. Waste of time and money.

The lady who we thought was the receptionist but was actually the female massage therapist did not ask for our preferences. The male massage therapist was late and we were ushered into the room. The therapist asked my husband the pressure and type of massage he wanted as he was laying face down on the table while my therapist asked me while I was sitting and facing her. My husband felt like it was strange and a tad unprofessional given the amount we were paying. The massage room was not insulated well from the construction sounds outside so that was also distracting, but it's New York City, so there's not much you can do about that. The massage overall was a Swedish massage was fine but we were looking forward to the hot stone portion which I had indicated in the scheduling email that we wanted it. It was not made known to us that we had to request it in person. Furthermore, the price of the massage did not include tip which was a bit surprising for us and given the overall experience we felt it was definitely not worth the rate per hour. We were provided a 10% first-time customer discount in the initial email which was not deducted during our payment after the massage and the female massage therapist told me that there was no discount when I mentioned it. There was confusion all around and we had to retroactively receive the discount from the initial scheduling person, so it seems like there's some disconnect between scheduling and staff working in office. Overall, it was unfortunately a disappointing experience as I was looking forward to giving my husband a relaxing massage for his birthday, but he came out feeling disappointed to say the least.

I made appointments for myself, my mom and my sister for my sister's birthday. I got to the place about 5 to 10 minutes prior to our appointments and my mom and sister were driving in from another borough. About 10 minutes after I got there, my mom called and said that she was outside in the car and could not physically leave the car. Her arthritis had unexpectedly flared up and she was in considerable pain. I explained the situation to the receptionist who said she understood and proceeded to speak to some unknown person stating "the client's mom can't come inside so they need to cancel". I then received a call from this unknown person who said that they could not waive the $300 deposit because she had people come in for our appointments (a lymphatic massage, a reflexology and a facial - something they should have staff on hand for anyway since they offer these services daily). I repeated what was happening with my mother and that if they were to make an exception in any situation, this would be it. She said that she didn't make the decisions and was communicating on behalf of the owner so I asked to speak to the owner and she refused - telling me that was just not possible. I asked her why, and to my disbelief, she said that she just couldn't let me talk to the owner. She then proceeded to insult me, saying that I should have prepared better and to add more insult to injury she said, and I quote "if $300 is that much of a problem for you, I don't know what to tell you". And then hung up. I can of course say the same about this business. If they care that little about their customers and if $300 is that much of a problem, this place should be out of business. In hindsight, I am glad this happened. If this place is that cheap, they would have been cheap with the treatments and I'm so glad we didn't take the risk. Take my experience as a cautionary tale - I would strongly encourage anyone who is thinking of getting a facial or a massage, please do not visit this establishment.

Then I get dressed (in front of her) and she walks me out. She asks me to pay cash, which I didn't have any. Then she said, "You pay with card but tip in cash." I had literally 4 dollars. Which is more than I thought the30 minute massage was worth. But when she saw I didn't have much cash, she asked me to tip her on the card. As she swiped my card I asked: "What kind of massage was that?" Her: Regular. Me: No, was it Swedish, Thai, Shiatsu? Her: No, just regular. Me: .... (thinking you have no idea what you're doing.) She handed me the receipt. I gave her a $7 tip. (that's almost 25%) She grabbed the reciept from me and said, "How much you tip?" looked at the receipt and literally said to my face, "This tip no good." Then both her and the woman next to her started laughing. I wanted to fart as loud as I could in their lobby then helicopter spin with my arms out. I think there was some sort of ridge or something that kept pressing into my forehead which later amounted to a hugeeee headache. After the massage, I had a sense of relief of this finally being over. But no. More problems. The only time it bothered me was when the receptionist (who is otherwise very sweet) was chastising my massage therapist after she went long in a session with me (not the worst thing to happen at least for me lol!). To me, they are trying to keep the rooms full and provide a pleasant, nicer experience. This is not an ultra luxe salon, but they have nice touches like offering a cup of green or black tea before your service, nice cookies and chocolates to snack on, and lemon water. Yes, there is two buck Chuck if you want wine, but hey it's free! The receptionist is always kind to clients, in my observation. There are two smaller restrooms, but at least there is two! The common sink outside the WC's has always been stocked with soap, paper towels and lotion all my visits. The couples room is cozy, and the most quiet of all the 5 spaces. They sell A LOT of Groupons and discount packages, so seems the clientele turns over quite a bit. I got an amazing deal over Christmas that has my 50 min massages, before tip, at about $40/each. One should always tip generously, of course :) and $20 seems to go over well. I came on a Groupon originally but fell in love with Monica's sweet nurturing massage. She is kind and gentle and makes me feel looked after. Added bonus: Citibike stand just 100 yards away! This tiny spot deserves a bit more love, in my view. I've used Groupon to get facials at other spas twice and had great experiences. I had the first appointment of the day @ 11am. I made it a few mins before 11 to discover that the aesthetician was late. Apparently she was traveling from NJ. She came in roughly 15 mins late. Not so bad, however I knew it wouldn't go well when I was called in a few minutes after. Not sure how she could settle in so fast. First I should point out that the spa rooms are not nice and very small. It's on par with the rooms you go into at a run down nail salon to get a wax. I was shocked. Through the whole facial she barely said a word outside of the bare minimum of asking if I had any issues with my skin and to tell me she was putting the cloth over my face during the steaming portion. I'm not expecting her to be chatty but I thought she would at least explain what she was putting on my face. At one point she was putting a mask that peels off and I asked her what it was. I think she said olive oil. She said it so quickly so I'm not 100% sure. Also used a zapper wand and I had to ask what that was for as well. Overall the only thing I'm grateful for is that I didn't pay the list price of $150. I would have been highly upset otherwise. I won't be returning and I don't recommend it to anyone.
