I am not happy with the way this orthodontist has placed braces on my child. She recommended an uneven tooth extraction which has led to shifting. Because only one tooth from the top and one from bottom were pulled, it has caused both upper and lower to shift. The rubber band placements are obstructive and nonsensical. In short, this causes a need to continue going back to her for al ignment. I think that is a manipulative way of getting more money from patient families. read more

Got my braces here. 6 years of treatment to get a horrible bite, ugly teeth, root resorption, and a dead tooth. And they took out a perfectly healthy tooth. And now the amount of teeth on top and bottom don't match. Them creating a misaligned bite, they made me wear complex rubber bands, that didn't help with anything. Just trying to get years of money from us. Having to get new orthodontic treatment somewhere else, for my new difficult bite. Go somewhere else for an orthodontist. These are horrible people, just trying to get money from you. NOT HERE!!!!! They don't have any new tech that some other places have. Please go somewhere else for orthodontist appointments. Please, I am begging you. I understand that it may be cheaper to do it here or they will tell you that it will only be two year but! Please don't make the same mistakes as me, there are days where I just have so much pain and I get so depressed because of this bite that they created. I just look so ugly. read more

Gave this place a shot a few times. They always keep trying to reschedule the day of for me, even though I booked my appointments months in advance around my schedule. Also, for some reason they also keep calling my husband's number instead of mine. I had told them many times to correct it. They make me feel like I don't know how to brush my teeth. Not sure why, because other places I've been to never had an issue with my brushing. Also too much time spent with the dental hygienist at the end "teaching" me to floss and brush every time. Kind of shaming me for it. The hygienist flosses too rough, I always have cuts on my gums afterwards. The parking lot here is super tiny too. read more

I went to A Street Dental today and loved it. This was the only dentist I saw who was not a corporation so I called them and got in same day for teeth cleaning. This place was so warm and friendly I could have hung out with everyone of the staff members including the DDS and feel like I've known them forever. Had my teeth cleaned and (shame on me for not remembering her name) the lady who cleaned them and xrayed them has honed in her craft amazingly! Never have I had xrays without biting down at least 2 times in severe pain until now... the cleaning was great and she never rested her hands on my jaw while working and used a tissue every time she sprayed some water on my face (which was hardly a spray) to dry it up. Dr. Tonnu was also wonderful...never once rushing me (and I'm a talker...lol). She heard my needs and we went in the direction that best fit me...I cant leave out the lady's at the front desk...super personable and completely professional while still having a few laughs with me. So my husband was having a horrible tooth ache for 2 days and the third day I guess it was just so bad that he needed a prescription from any dentist until his insurance from his new job went into effect. I called this place about 45 minutes before closing. The receptionist was very helpful and sweet. He was able to accommodate us to come in even when they were almost closing. We didn't end up going because my husband decided to wait until the next day so he could use his insurance. Never the less, I really appreciated that he was kind enough to have him come in and get checked by the doctor. Great customer service and patient care. Where to start.... Well first I would have to say that I'm so very thankful that I decided to leave Smile Care and try out A Street Dental in 2009. Ever since I made the switch I have been very satisfied with the work I've had done and most of all the customer service I receive at every appointment. Dr. Tonnu is amazing and always makes me feel very comfortable along with her amazing assistants Rebecca and Nancy. I in general don't enjoy getting dental work done, but I enjoy every visit with the staff. I feel like they are more friends that employees at the office I go to. Highly recommended! I had previously avoided the dentist for years after several bad experiences, but finally decided I needed to find a dentist. Looking on Yelp I found Dr. Tonnu with great reviews and an office right here in downtown Hayward. Dr. Tonnu and her staff are all very friendly and you get the sense they really care. Turns out I had 15+ cavities!!! Initially I was filled with dread at the thought of all that work and the cost, but their prices are very reasonable and they take a great deal of care to make you as comfortable as possible. Dr. Tonnu is great! Her staff are all A+ too. Everyone is friendly, accommodating, and helpful. It's a really small office near the Hayward BART, but I've never had a problem with making or rescheduling appointments. There's a small parking lot in the back that has no separate enter and exit signs, so you have to be careful when pulling in that no one is pulling out. They send you a text message as a reminder for appointments, and I'm told this is also how they remind you to schedule new appointments. This is helpful, as a lot of times, mailings get lost in the shuffle at home or you just don't receive them. My consecutive years streak of no cavities ended at 31 years recently, so I had to go twice for fillings. Not knowing what to expect, Dr. Tonnu laid out the entire gameplan and made me feel at ease. The process was as smooth as I could have hoped for. Also a plus: the monitor they have in the one (not sure if it's in others) room I always go into has Netflix. Catching up on Daredevil while they went to work? Helped to make the session go really fast. I'm hopeful it's just cleanings going forward, but have no fear of the dentist when you come here, they really take care of you. read more

Where do I begin? I have moved to Hayward in late 2014 but have kept all my relations with the city including my dentist of 20+ year. Please note that I'm a diligent patient who commits to ritual consists of proper cleaning and flossing. For 15 more years, I have not experienced any cavities. Then since early 2017, I started to feel constant sensitivity in multiple teeth. Again and again, I went back to my dentist and all he did was to adjust my bites. I trusted his ability to care for my dental health and therefore did not question him at all. I continued to suffer for the whole year until one of my filings came off and I needed immediate help. Except my dentist was away in Europe on vacation. Against my will, I went to Dr. Tunno who was very near my home in Hayward. BANG! The best decision I have made in my life when it came to my dental health. She did an amazing job and diagnosed me accordingly, I learned that I need a root canal due to the negligence of my previous dentist hence why the prolonged sensitivity and discomfort. That wasn't the end of the story, she was able to find cavities that were not on the X-rays. It spoke of her incredible skill and not the to mention her diligent with her effort to help me. Thank you, Dr. Tunno for saving my teeth for any further root canal and allowing me to gain the ability to eat comfortably again! Now that we have established Dr. Tunno's profession strengths, please let me add her character strengths. Dr. Tunno is very warm and welcoming. She is a good listener (trust me, my story was long), patience, compassion and a good sense of humor. All the must needed elements to making a good person and a good doctor! I live in Milpitas and drive to Hayward because there's no better dental service around. My wife and I have been going to A Street dental for over 5 years now. We just had our first child, and A Street Dental is one of the few child-friendly clinics with kid's DVD movies and cartoons, and a DVD TV in every dental chair. Not only are the people great, but the clinic is all new and updated. It's gorgeous, all decorated, and it doesn't have that strong dental-clinic smell. It's actually enjoyable to go the dentist!
